While inclusion has become a popular topic among the disability community, individuals still face micro aggressors such a micromanagement. In this episode, I talk about the difference.

Today self advocacy is very popular and individuals on the spectrum are heavily involved. Yet, there are those who are throw pity parties and invite others to join them. In this episode I define the difference.

Following up with last week’s episode,which was regarding a propaganda put out by Autism Speaks in 2009. In this video I talk about individuals on the spectrum who have skills and hobbies in film and media and create content opposing videos like that.

Today, there is a great divide between Autism Awareness and Autism Acceptance.   In lieu of this, people are almost always expected to pic a side.   Still, I have simply chosen that it is okay to take Middle Grounds.    Recorded from my live show, here is episode.

As I continue to give my two cents on what's going on with autism and the media by reading "Understanding Autism," I read "Reluctant Keepers," by Elizabeth Choi. Unlike the other articles, this one made me feel very sad and and angry.   Why?  People continue to paint all autistics as violent monsters who abuse their family members and the people around them.  That said, they never bother to look at the bigger picture or understand what they are doing that creates those behaviors.

On Sunday April 11, 2021, you heard from Tripp Ritchie on autism and employment. Here is my extra commentary tonight.

In this episode, I continue to give my two cents on what is going on with autism in the media.  As mentioned, I have been reading various articles in the New York Times special edition, "Understanding Autism."  In this episode, I talk about an article written by Eli Gotlieb and how he has been a caregiver for his brother.  He also talks about the struggle of the lack of services and supports.
