#405. Onafhankelijke geluidskunst, radiofonische projecten en andere audio-non-visuele misverstanden en vondsten. Met Invisible Choreography en The Desire Of My Heart.

    1. Invisible Choreography. (Radio Grenouille | Euphonia).

The starting point is a series of “sound” dances proposed by the dance students: voices, body percussion, slides, steps,…
Then, the microphones recorded the dancers’ movements at different heights (micro contact, ambient stereo microphone and proximity stereo microphone).

The selected extracts were played in the multimedia creation software of Pure Data.
A random and mastered arrangement that follows rhythmic intentions so that this sound piece can be danced again.
A composition of movements based on a choreographic sound writing.
An invisible choreography.
Directed by : Jean-Baptiste Imbert & Guillaume Brevet.

    2. The Desire Of My Heart by Manja Ristić. (RadioZero).

    Where does it come from?
The impulse, plucking my neural plexus, leaving behind open doors for the algorithm of consciousness to inscribe the new path. Memories compressed in cells’ membranes, wriggle, dissolve, combust and ripen. Nothing remains in your name* until paths are cleared and psyche’s sediment is purged.

The Desire of My Heart is a collection of intimate interventions extracted from my daily life and observations of my immediate environment from the perspective of transcendental attuning. On the trace of early 20th century esoteric practices of automatic painting and writing, I build a meta narrative in three stages, using field recordings, sonification and improvisation on amplified objects, exploring and manipulating basic frequencies from electrical fields.

    Instruments used –
thick jar with the ice cubes
broken radio receiver inside the thick jar with the ice cubes
home fan
radio receiver tuning to a FM scale (excerpts from HRT3 programme about WWII)
wheelchair wheel salvaged from shallow waters in the Adriatic, played with wooden sea debris, electrical coffee mixer, soft xylophone stick and a pine cone
radio receiver placed on the wheelchair wheel
cardboard tube rubbed against a window
refrigerator
kitchen sink
stones rubbed with the soft xylophone stick
baby megaphone toy.

    Field recordings –
Porec marina, ventilation behind the restaurant in the park (June 2021)
hydrophone and field recorder buried in the stranded sediments of a dry Posidonia oceanica algae, Dobre vode bay, Silba island (July 2021)
St. Marco’s Cathedral church bells, Korcula town (December 2020).

Instrumental excerpt from the Depression for the Bass Clarinet graphic score, interpretation Vasa Vuckovic (April 2018).

All sounds gathered, played and edited by Manja Ristić contact mic & hydrophone built by Jez Riley French Mastering La Plant Studio Belgrade
August 2021.

#402. Onafhankelijke geluidskunst, radiofonische projecten en andere audio-non-visuele misverstanden en vondsten. Adam Bohman @ Loos in Den Haag.

Daniel Spicer reviews Adam Bohman’s Music And Words 2 in The Wire 365: “You can never be 100 per cent certain what you’re going to get from an Adam Bohman performance. You might see him coaxing tiny acoustic tones and textures from a tabletop of bric-a-brac and junk; reading a cut-up of found texts incorporating snatches of Chinese takeaway menus and TV screenplays; or telling a long and convoluted joke that gets more doggedly hilarious with every passing minute. But these recordings from 1977–2010 show that, throughout his whole career, the tape recorder – and, specifically, the art of tape collage – has been a constant.”

X-enia (Xenia Gottenkieny) is a musician and painter living in Rotterdam.

Her performances are often LoFi and the distorted placement of samples and bass sound tear down any HiFi-ambitions or romantic expectations.

#400. Onafhankelijke geluidskunst, radiofonische projecten en andere audio-non-visuele misverstanden en vondsten. Summer School part 2.

How are you? Hope everything’s all right. I have a new episode of Radio Siquica, an hour of radio experiments tapes & weirdness, mixed with some Andean and Southamerican tunes. As always this new episode will be featured on some radios I work on time to time, but I think we can stream it on your radio show or Worm as a follow up of our collaborations. Hey Nico… Yes please!

#399. Onafhankelijke geluidskunst, radiofonische projecten en andere audio-non-visuele misverstanden en vondsten. Summer School part 1.

    01. Dreamworlding. (2021) 30”.

Clara J:son Borg & Jake Caleb.

In times of larger societal change, humans have created imaginary worlds to be able to

escape the hardship of reality and find safe havens within dreams. In the sonic landscape
Dreamworlding, Jake Caleb and Clara J:son Borg invited Bobby Sayers, Leeron Tur-Kaspa
and Merve Kılıçer to think together around daydreaming, collective minds, impossible
imaginary space and personal refuges of escapism.

Clara J:son Borg is a Swedish artist based in Rotterdam (NL). Her artistic practice is directed towards ontologies surrounding the human body, it’s performance strategies and political subject.

Jake Caleb is an artist from the UK based in Rotterdam. Through collaboration and
organisation, his practice asks what it is to live, work and act together.
This is their first collaboration together. Produced by Worm.

Radia; KIN | Laboratorio radiofonico e performativo a Santarcangelo Festival 2050.

    02. KIN by Usmaradio / Roberto Paci Dalò is a radio and performative project with laboratory sessions of The School of Radio. The town of Santarcangelo di Romagna is occupied with the broadcasting of a schedule composed of materials by the artists present at the Santarcangelo Festival (the 51 years old festival devoted to experimental performing arts), citizens and original materials created by the working group. All spread in public and private space with listening spots, improvisations, electronics, remote collaborative radio performances with artists not physically present at the festival.

“The undifferentiated mass is expressed with a single voice, with slogans repeated in unison, so that the individualities blend vocally. Plurality, on the other hand, is expressed in a plurisonic way, producing not a single voice and not even a cacophony, but what I call a pluriphony, where each singular voice retains its uniqueness and reverberates with each other. ” (Adriana Cavarero). Scriptures and guiding voices are those of John Cage and Donna Haraway.
    Produced by Radia/Usma Radio.
