Leslie Mehta, a community advocate and former lead attorney for the ACLU of Virginia, is running for the Democratic nomination for Virginia’s First District congressional seat, which includes western Henrico County and portions of 14 other localities, mostly east of Richmond along the Eastern Shore. When they reconvene this month, Virginia lawmakers will consider a proposal to allow local governments to install speed cameras wherever they deem them necessary, with penalties of up to 0 for violations. Four local organizations will host the Youth Opioid Awareness town hall Jan. 24 at Richmond Elite Academy in Mechanicsville.
