Henrico officials are encouraging county residents to take an online survey to identify the materials of their home’s water service line. The survey is part of the Lead Service Line Replacement Program, an initiative of the Department of Public Utilities aimed at replacing lead-based water service lines that connect a home’s internal plumbing to the water main. A water service line is the pipe that runs from the water main to a home or building’s internal plumbing. A cat acting strangely in Highland Springs has tested positive for rabies, marking the fifth confirmed rabies case in Henrico County this year. Henrico Police responded to the 100 block of North Linden Avenue Aug. 26 after someone reported potentially being exposed to the cat. The cat’s remains were submitted to the state laboratory, where the positive case was confirmed. No additional animal or human exposures were reported. Starting Sept. 1, Virginia students seeking a tattooing license through a school will have to undergo more hours of training following regulatory changes. Those changes increase the hours students must spend in training from 750 to 1000 hours, with the additional 250 hours to be used solely for hands-on training.
