A messy contract dispute between Bon Secours Mercy Health and Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield has left 11,000 Virginians who have Medicare plans through Anthem out of network for Bon Secours, which operates numerous hospitals in the Richmond and Hampton Roads regions. If the disagreement isn’t resolved by Oct. 1, an additional 39,000 Virginians who get Medicaid coverage through Anthem could also find themselves out of network, potentially facing disruption to their ability to get health care. Padow's Hams and Deli, a longtime restaurant staple of Innsbrook, has closed its location in the Shoppes at Innsbrook. Owner Sydney Padow has told customers that the local chain intends to open a new location soon, but details are not yet known. Henrico County Division of Fire officials honored two of their own and celebrated the promotions of 24 others during a ceremony at J.R. Tucker High School Aug. 3. A panel at Henrico Doctors Hospital, assembled by Congressman Rob Wittman, featured a lengthy conversation among addiction recovery professionals, ER doctors, and law enforcement. Kathryn Fedors shared her son’s story during the discussion. Jack Nutter, 23, died in February from a fentanyl overdose. Fedors said her son had received treatment from three different facilities before his death. "Jack had tremendous support and access to resources that most people do not have," she said. Peggy Yurkovich Trusty, 81, of Varina, passed away peacefully in her daughter’s arms on July 31, 2023. Absent from the body, present with the Lord. She was preceded in death by her husband, R.B. “Tom” Trusty, and her beloved son, Ricky Dean Damron. Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Patricia (Jimmy) and Jennifer; a brother, sister, five grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
