Tuckahoe District Supervisor Patricia S. O’Bannon will host a Tuckahoe Town Meeting on Thursday, April 22 to highlight plans for summer programs and services at Henrico County parks and libraries. The meeting also will explain the Real Estate Advantage Program, which offers a real estate tax exemption for qualified seniors and residents who are disabled as well as their spouses. Bon Secours has signed an agreement to acquire Tuckahoe Orthopaedics, one of the oldest private orthopedic practices in the Central Virginia area. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Tuckahoe Orthopaedics has operated for more than four decades and specializes in pediatric orthopedics, foot and ankle, hand and upper extremity, joint replacement, spine, arthroscopy and sports medicine. The Virginia Restaurant, Lodging, and Travel Association will support the restaurant and hospitality industry by offering COVID-related skills training to unemployed and underemployed restaurant and hotel workers as part of 2,500 in state funding allocated this week to the effort in Henrico, Chesterfield and Richmond. People who pre-registered will begin receiving calls and emails as soon as today for appointments next week, according to health officials. A month after sharing an offensive Facebook post that she said she hadn’t fully read or seen, Henrico School Board Chair Micky Ogburn Thursday resigned her leadership role on the board, though she will remain as Three Chopt District representative. Vice Chair Marcie Shea of the Tuckahoe District will serve as acting chair until the board selects a new chair at its April 22 meeting. An evening fire in Varina damaged an 86-year-old home and sent flames and smoke high enough into the sky that drivers on nearby I-295 called 911 to report the blaze. It happened in the 8300 block of Fordson Farm Lane, just off New Market Road adjacent to I-295 and across from the Four Mile Run subdivision.
