  • Michelle Scheuermann: Outdoor Media Influence

Michelle and I sit down and talk about the voice of influence. She is the President of the Profession Outdoor Media Association and so much more that gives her plenty of merit in giving advice on how you manage your media, influence and voice in the outdoors. We talk about the role we play on social media, pros and cons of how being involved in this community can affect your own outdoor life, how can you get involved and the responsibility we have as people with a voice.

Listen in, ask questions and get involved in this discussion. Thank you for being a part of Her Wild Outdoors.

  • Stephanie Harrott: Homesteading

Stephanie joins me in this conversation as a 22 year veteran hunter who has decided that her meat shouldn't be the only thing that she wants to have control and knowledge of where it comes from. How can she bring it all together? What does 22 years of hunting look like from then to now? Let's have these conversations and be grateful for where it has come from and where it is going. Listen in and enjoy!

Let's talk guns! Let's have a conversation about what it is like to step onto a range with a bit of fear and uncertainty. How can you overcome that? How can fear change to respect? • Kimberly Seigal...Imposter Syndrome

Imposter Syndrome: a pattern to which an individual doubts their own skills talents or accomplishments despite the obvious evidence of their hard work.

Most people deal with a level of this. Kimberly and I dive into this conversation after she gives us a little background on herself. Let's talk about the example we are setting and the need to stop the habit with the next generation. How well do you take a compliment? How often do you celebrate your victories no matter how small? Do you minimize the effort given? Let's talk about it!

  • Deerliverance, Jonathan Hayes

Jonathan and I sat down and had a conversation about how hunting and the outdoors saved his life from the path he was traveling as a teenager. We discuss a few of the do's and don'ts to bring kids into hunting. There are ways that you can encourage new hunters and very very wrong ways. Listen in as we give each of our top three most important things to apply to mentoring! This has been a question I get asked a whole lot! How do you get kids involved in hunting!?

  • Megan Beach...Outdoor Therapy
Megan and I had a conversation that was about how the outdoors has been a huge part of her evolution of who she is over her lifespan. How can the outdoors help with transition from military life to civilian life? How do you go from the military family to civilian life? Where is the camaraderie? How can it help heal our soul? Let's have this conversation.
We also talk about taxidermy, moving from Utah to Oregon, how to get involved in hunting groups that transfer states. Conservation...do you take and not give back? Are you a selfish hunter or do you build back what you have taken? Listen in and grow from it.

  • Jenn Smith...Authenticity

Jenn and I have now been able to hang out twice in Texas in person and hug each others' necks. We have been able to chat about our faith, our love of the outdoors, our family and who we are. When we were discussing what this podcast was going to involve it was hard because Jenn is on Instagram just to almost treat it like a journal of her love of the outdoors.  Her question to me "what makes me different than others or how do I stand out beyond others" is a valid question.

An easy answer though...authentic living at its finest! Jenn and I talk about how the outdoors was a huge part of her life growing up but she lost it a bit along the way of adulthood. So listen in to find out how she found herself again in the mountains. We talk about how hunting and fly fishing is very very similar. Hear how living real and honest is so much easier than working the "fake Social Media life" and what it has meant to her finding others who are like minded!

  • Sarah Rowe...Unmoved and Unashamed

Sarah and I sat down and talked about how she grew up in the outdoors, how her grandmother introduced her to wrestling and her move to Japan. We shift gears to then get back to the root of being grounded in family, the outdoors, farm life and being unashamed in who she is. We do not fit the box society puts us in. We discuss the difference between the received messages about hunting that she gets versus Ray her husband who is also a wrestler/hunter and why we think that is. We also get into how we should be mindful about what we post as hunters but not ashamed or quiet about the reality of it. Join us for this conversation! Sarah, thank you!
