Cindy Stites joins me for a conversation on the article she wrote for B.R. Shadley Sporting Report. It is "an article that needed written but no one wanted to write" and she took on the first in the series. We discuss how hard it was to write an article highlighting what women and other hunters deal with on a daily basis sometimes without targeting men who actually do it right.
Listen in and enjoy! Let us know what you think! We want to hear your opinions on the subject as well!
An organization for women, by women to not only give experience but to educate...that is wildHERness! These hunters not only teach hunting, they also educate others on responsibilities of the outdoors. Think bee keeping, land management, fishing, hiking and hunting. This organization is going further into the community than just one time moments that cost an arm and a leg.
We also tackle a controversial article printed by the MeatEater crew.
Listen in and let us know your takeaways! We want to know!
Lindsay and I had so much fun talking solo hunting because WE LOVE IT!!!!! Is it easy? Hell no! Is it safe? Hell no! Is it rewarding? HELL TO THE YES! So lets get into it! How do you get started? What do you need to be prepared for? Not everyone has a person to get them into hunting so how do you do it? We cover these topics and more. Lindsay has a passion not just for the outdoors but for health, nutrition and strength especially in preparing for the outdoors. You can find her everywhere under HUNT FIBER! Also check into her episodes of Alone the Beast on the History Channel and see how she kicked butt!!!!
Mel and I have a conversation on archery. Archery can be used for recreation, competition or hunting, but all of them are enjoyable and therapeutic usually to the archer. How in the world do you even start? Especially as a woman or youth! Partners often ask what bow should I get my significant other or child, how do I get one that fits their body? TAKE HER IN! Take THEM in! It is a process that needs patience and the ability to walk in without the need to walk out with a bow! Mel gives insight into the things to look for when skipping out an archery shop...the red flags, the high points, the things you need to stay healthy! I truly respect her passion behind finding a bow for each person who wants one. We get to the nitty gritty of details surrounding the negatives of bow shopping and the set backs it can cause! Listen in! It is going to be a good one!
Join me for this conversation with Allison as we discuss everything from traveling all over the world, to hunting all over, noodling huge catfish, turtle soup and her book Chasing Deer! We both have a heart for getting the next generation open to enjoying the outdoors and understanding hunting and angling. Our kids should never be forced into hunting but there is a level of respect for it that all should be taught. Listen in as we discuss a bit about hunting differences in the eastern, midwest and western United States. The differences in those hunts and the similarities! Thank you Allison for this fun episode! I cannot wait to do it again!

Sara Gamache joins me in talking about a few things close to her heart. Hunting and Family! We get to chat a bit about her stag hunt in Scotland. A little bit about a debacle when it came to credit taken for the hunt. But even. more so we talk about family. The balance a parent must have between kids, spouse, hunting or anything else you enjoy doing. We talk a lot between ourselves about the guilt of leaving family to pursue the joy of the outdoors. Sara and I talk about the right balance and the responsibility we have to teach our kids the right way of the outdoors.
Hunter, Photographer, Equine Specialist, Trapper...I could keep going! Theresa joins me for an awesome conversation about growing up in a guiding family and taking it on herself over the years! Jen Shears...kicking ass and showing the next generation how to do it. This episode has some great stories in it but Geez Louise did I learn a lot about what to pack and what not to pack for myself and a kiddo on a backcountry trip hunting! Jen and her family have some pretty exciting things coming up for all of you so listen in and find out what you are in store for! Thank you Jen!
Jenn and I have been trying to sit down for a conversation since late spring of last year when COVID was kicking her tail. Jenn is a passionate hunter who has an amazing story to tell about how she got started. We were able to truly relate on a few levels of how becoming a hunter sometimes can seem strange to those who have known us the longest. Jenn is a person who can see what she wants and goes ahead no matter how many "you can't do that's" she gets. Like me that just pushes her further into it. Enjoy this conversation...it is such a great one!
