Nobody likes to think about an officer receiving catastrophic injuries.  But sometimes their stories can be as inspirational and encouraging as they are tragic and horrifying. Our guests today are Pete and Michelle Tucker.  Pete was a motorcycle cop in Ontario, Canada, near Niagara Falls.  Pete's injury came when he was struck in the head by a large bird at highway speeds.  Knocked unconscious, Pete drifted into a guard rail, which severed his left leg and catapulted him into the median, causing extensive injuries.  Now, years later, we're going to talk to Pete and his wife Michelle about their worst day imaginable.

Of all the trauma and grief an officer can experience in law enforcement, many police officers say it's the betrayal and mistreatment by police leadership that has hurt the worst.  Today our guest is Jake Sapp who worked as a cop in Kansas City for fifteen years before leaving it all behind for a civilian job.  The problem is that he didn't leave it all behind; the damage done by bad leadership left it's mark in Jake, and that followed him to the next career.  Today we're going to talk about how a cop stays healthy emotionally when his dreams are dashed, his career is ended, but the bitterness remains against bad leaders.

I want police officers to understand why chaplains exist and I want chaplains to understand how they can serve better.  One of the best ways to "get it" is to listen to this conversation with a chaplain who has the right attitude and character.  Our guest today is Kevin Shive. Kevin is a police chaplain from Golden, Colorado and he is also the founder and executive director of Serving the Shield, formerly Rocky Mountain Police and Fire Chaplains.  Kevin is going to share some chaplain stories from the front lines but we are also going to talk about vetting and dismissing people who may not be fit to be chaplains.
