We're so excited to share our first guest with you, it's the one and only Evelyn Thompson-Smith! Evelyn is Becky's mom, and Martha's mother in law, and she has lived...a couple of lives. Today we ask her about her educational pursuits, her WHIRLWIND romance with Papa Smith and how they've been married for 35 years. We also touch on what drives her, and how she stays invigorated and excited to work and be busy.
Here's what we've been liking this week:
Need some easy listening this week? Join us for the soothing hum of Becky and Martha's voices sending you serious encouragement and thought provoking insight on how comparison culture just doesn't serve us. Focus on loving yourself, friend! You are worth it and have more valuable things to do than tear yourself (and others) down. And if you ever need the reassurance, remember that here on this podcast, WE LIKE YOU exactly the way you are!
Speaking of 'like'... Hey! Here the things we like this week:
-"Into the Grand Canyon" [National Geographic] on Disney+
-Frozen Croissants sold at Costco
-Badminton
-Friends that will buy badminton sets with you and play
Heyyyo friends! Welcome back to another episode of the podcast. Today we're tackling the "fun traits" we all live with and sometimes wrestle with. If this episode has taught the two of us anything, it's that we're all way more alike than we are different. Some of you shared your "fun traits" with Becky back in November. While we went through them this week in recording we noticed that the two of us do most if not all of the things you do too. Why are we so ashamed of these behaviours then? We're all doing them, we're all so normal we're practically boring. We hope that whike you listen today you come away knowing you can love all the parts of you, even the bits you're ashamed of.
Our likes this week:
We love you guys. Thank you so much for listening.
In this week's episode we dive into one of our "Hey! I like you!" topics. You know, the ones that don't quite fit categories of 'bodies and self love', or 'relationships' . Its the perfect third category to hold all of the things that make us happy, and we're thrilled to be sharing with you why we love BREAD <-- just like the all-too-famous Oprah meme.
Whether you buy yours from a fancy bakery, make it yourself at home, or are almost killed by it (like Becky was) we think you'll find something to make you smile in this episode. It might be taboo to love bread as much as we do, but we're very happy being the rebellious types. We'd love to put in a funny tagline like "bread over boys" but if you've listened to the episode you know it's really Bread AND Boys.
Some hot topics we also discuss in this weeks episode: - J-Rod allegedly breaking up. You can call off the vigil apparently they're going to work through things. - The unending pain that Greys Anatomy causes becky, please drop the name of any emotional support groups you know that she might benefit from. - The clubhouse app, it's iPhone only right now, but if you want an invite to it Becky's got your hook up. - Babes that we love accomplishing their dreams, here's to looking at your @jencieswimwear. - Tony Hawk, tweeting every time someone tell's him he looks like that one famous skateboarder named Tony Hawk. Dont believe us, check out this article https://www.buzzfeed.com/stephenlaconte/tony-hawk-recognized-twitter - The Duchess Bake Shop, come visit Becky and she'll take you (@duchessbakeshop) - All things Chip & Joanna Gaines, and you lucky son-of-a-gun's who get to watch their network on Discovery+ in the US. - The West Wing, the presidential administration the whole world wants for the USA, but Biden will do for the time being. - Legacy by Suzanne Methot (https://www.chapters.indigo.ca/en-ca/books/legacy-trauma-story-and-indigenous/9781770414259-item.html) - A mind spread out on the ground by Alicia Elliott (https://www.chapters.indigo.ca/en-ca/books/a-mind-spread-out-on/9780385692403-item.html?ikwid=a+mind+spread+out+on+the+ground&ikwsec=Home&ikwidx=0#algoliaQueryId=49c72caffe7683d40384b0b5f0b28a44) - And last but certainly not least, Karly Mercer (@karly.mercer.art) for all things beautiful.
