Many of us never even consider consuming our placenta because… ew, myself included! But after experiencing a wild ride postpartum I had a few people recommend it to me and honestly thought well if it will help me I’m willing to give it a try.

Because there is not a ton of research on it, you really have to make the decision for yourself. But from most of the women I’ve spoken to who have done it, they say it’s been incredibly helpful.

Chanel, (@awerkingmama), is a doula and birth educator and she chatted with me about the potential benefits of consuming your placenta including helping to balance hormones, potential increase in milk supply, and helping with postpartum bleeding! I learned about the different ways to encapsulate and the logistics of what to do with the placenta once it’s out!

For many of us getting ready to embark on parenthood 2.0, we wonder how our first child will do with the new baby! What books do we need to read? How do we introduce the kids? Is there anything we need to know NOT to do? What if our oldest isn’t interested? Starts hitting? Is there a “right” way to do things? First, I’ll tell you from the podcast the answer is NO, so much is up to us and how we prefer to do it.  They do have some INCREDIBLE tips for how to phrase things when problems arise and some good options for these basic questions. 
MamaPsychologists Caitlin and Chelsea started with child development and now are helping postpartum moms and parents navigate this new life of parenthood with their instagram and courses! So grateful they took the time to chat with me about how to introduce AJ to baby #2 (as by the time this goes live… we’ll be past the due date!)

You’re told not to have sex until at least your 6 week postpartum check up. But a lot of women still can’t fathom having sex that soon.  There are so many things going on, hormones play a huge role, you’re exhausted, you’re touched out… AND you love your partner and want them to feel it.How do you keep the spark alive with out the S.E.X.? It’s a lot simpler than you might think! I had Vanessa and Xander Marin on my podcast, she’s a sex therapist and author and he’s a regular (and hilarious) dude. Their mission is to take the intimidation out of getting intimate and they do an extraordinary job on their social media and through the free material and courses they offer! They chatted with me about postpartum sex and how to communicate with your partner that your  lack of sex drive has nothing to do with them. 

This one might be a good one for both you AND your partner.

Low supply can be such a challenging time for so many women. There is so much more attached to it than just having low supply.  I was lucky to have, Kaia, a certified lactation counselor, on to talk about her journey with low supply, specifically insufficient glandular tissue for her. She defines the different kinds of low supply and some solutions to increase supply (if possible). She discusses the personal and mental aspects of having a low supply and then what the options are, HINT: it’s not just “try harder” or formula fed.

Did your "ideal birth plan" and what actually happen not quite line up?  Many women come out of labor a little shook and possibly traumatized, but as long as baby and mama are healthy there shouldn't be trauma right? Wrong. Only you get to decide that, and often times it's not even up to you but instead how your brain processes the events. I interviewed Kayleigh Summers (@thebirthtrauma_mama) a therapist and birth trauma survivor. Her instagram account does an incredible job of validating so many different kinds of birth trauma and being a resource for women who are processing a birth trauma.

We've been doing Elimination Communication since our daughter was 6 months old. And even though we don't catch EVERYTHING, we've enjoyed it. I recently had Andrea Olson (@godiaperfree) on my podcast (Episode 023) and told her our daughter was doing well but still in diapers at 21 months. She told me to pull the diaper and let it roll! Well, we're a month in and we're just starting to get the hang of it!  I wanted to share what has helped me and the problems that we had. I hope you find this helpful! And if you want to go with Andrea's toddler approach... maybe get the book before you start. Unlike what I did!

SO much changes when you and your partner become parents and sometimes a lot of the weight falls on the Mother… BIOLOGICALLY.  Partner resentment can be VERY real as we enter into motherhood and our relationship with our partner changes!  SO I asked Tessa Romero, a mindset coach to come talk me through partner resentment and HOLY CRAP did I get a mirror put up to my face (in a good way).  Spoiler alert, there is more going on than just a mindset shift, we need to work on identifying who WANT to be and owning our own feelings. Woof, this is a good one!

Have you ever considered what people did before diapers? Or in other countries where diapers are not as accessible? Welcome to Elimination Communication. I luckily heard about it during my pregnancy and we started with Aliya when she was just 6 months old!  We were super relaxed about it, were stoked when we caught a pee or poop (especially poop considering we use cloth diapers) but didn’t sweat it too much when we missed one.
I am lucky enough to have Andrea,  the founder of Go Diaper Free on the podcast, to tell us ALL about EC.  She even challenged me asking why my 19 month old was still in diapers!!  I hope you enjoy and learn something new!
