This week I get to hang out with Andrew Low of POST SKELETON and THE JAZZ JUNE. Andrew and I connect on a ton of things throughout this episode. Seeing as we are fellow “Skate Rats" from New Jersey separated by two weeks in age, it only makes sense. One of us now lives across the pond in the UK and one of us still lives in New Jersey. You should know by now which is which. Andrew’s new project POST SKELETON has taken us on the joy ride that is life itself. Andrew tells the story of what brought him to the formation of Post Skeleton and other bands he has performed with throughout his career. This episode brought together two friends who just met on the show for the first time. Friendships are bonded by the thing can bring us all together, from different places and backgrounds, that bond is music. Ben’s love of music can be felt in the passion of the tunes he creates with multiple projects. This week I meet up with singer/songwriter/dobro player ABBIE GARDNER. Abbie's musical journey starts with wanting to play instruments only nerds play, her words, not mine. Either way it doesn’t matter who instruments are for, because it has to start somewhere. That somewhere was just the tip of the iceberg for where Abbie would end up. Abbie’s musical story is about structure and rewarding herself for her “sticktoitveness.” Growing up in an area where her style of music was not prevalent or easy to find, Abbie found a community of music makers to grow with. Abbie and I had a lot of fun on this show, we may have even had some lovely background music to help us at one point. This week I had the distinct pleasure chatting with Matt Scottoline of the brilliant band HURRY. Matt’s journey through the musical landscape started in another brilliant band EVERYONE EVERYWHERE. Matt took what he learned while playing and writing music with his former band and brought it to a new and exciting place with HURRY. Hurry started as a solo project and has evolved into a great trio of talent curating astounding songs. Matt and I connected on a ton of musical moments and had a great time swapping stories. This week I had the pleasure of speaking with Slade Echeverria and Danny Stravers of the genre flipping band ANARBOR. As Slade goes on to tell us, the band started fast, signing to Hopeless Records early in the bands formation. With that came  some great opportunities to perform on Warped Tour and having their music featured on a number of T.V. shows and networks. Slade could not thank the label enough for all they did for them, but with time comes change. As a band matures, so do the members of a band and people look to do other things. That was just a bump in the road for ANARBOR,  Slade would continue to write and find people like Danny to create new sounds with. I get a lot of pleasure listening to bands try new things and when it works it’s exhilarating. ANARBOR has done just that for me, they grew not only in life but sonically as well. Join Danny, Slade and I as we search for that “Letter In A Suitcase” from the “Gypsy Woman” on the “Carefree Highway.”

This week I catch up with Patrick Ferris of the band THE AMERICANS. Patrick and the band are clearly young men with old souls, which can be heard throughout their music. Patrick tells stories of finding the music he connected with, although not finding a partner to share it with. That is, until and old friend resurfaced!!! It's amazing what can happen when someone shares the same love of the same music you do, it even leads to great bands like THE AMERICANS. There are some amazing stories about the band and the friendships that led to it, so I suggest you seek them out as I did (meaning listen to the show).One story that definitely comes out is learning how to book a tour, very good listen for young bands. Join Patrick and I as we try to figure out “What I Would Do” if I was “Born With A Broken Heart,” I still don’t know but at least I’m “Here With You.”

This week I had the great pleasure to hang out with Andrew Patrick of the high flying hard hitting band THE CAROLYN! I was blessed with the opportunity to hear the band’s first full length while searching for something new. The album is called “This Will Begin To Make Things Right” and it could not sound anything closer to its title, just right! Andrew and I got to learn a lot about each other throughout the show, except for his high school years since he forced those memories out of his head. With a new album on the way there was a moment where Andrew said “we could die and this album could never see the light of day.” It was a reference to the crazy times of creating something new while the world was in peril. Join Andrew and I as we discuss the “Burden” of the “News” and become “Heartsunk” with “Sympathy.”

This week I get to hang out with fellow Jersey boy Jared Hart of MERCY UNION and THE SCANDALS. I have had the distinct pleasure of seeing Jared perform throughout his career, most recently his solo performance at one of my favorite joints, Crossroads. Jared and I find we have a ton to talk about when it comes to all things music. We dive deep into the most recent MERCY UNION song “Prussian Blue.” It's not something we normally do, since we all own the songs we listen to, and form our own meaning, but it happened and the story is great. Throughout the show show Jared shares his stories with great pride and without prejudice. Remembering scenes and pushing for talented people are at the heart of this story and Jared does it graciously.
