Please join me in welcoming Lauren Denitzio of the resplendent indie rock band WORRIERS! Lauren's journey began with learning to play guitar at summer camp and finding the DIY artists of that generation like Ani Difranco and others. Lauren's knack for creation shines brightly with the latest WORRIERS  acoustic release of "They/Them/Theirs". The tones and emotions that Lauren creates with the band are ever changing, but the message remains the same. Its your responsibility to figure out the message and what it means to you in your own life.  "What Comes Next", and will it "Be Enough" or is it just "Relentless Noise?" Tune in and find out!!!

This week I am joined by Nick Woods of the hard hitting punk band DIRECT HIT!. Nick brings his unique perspective to the thought of "what if it all went away?" Nick's story telling of his first musical memory is told in technicolor for all to hear AND see. Nick's ability to bring his visions to life can be summed up with the pivotal  DIRECT HIT! Album "Crown Of Nothing". Crown Of Nothing is a beautiful concept album brought to life with a comic series. Our understanding of each other through the connection of music was not only stimulating, but spooky. DIRECT HIT! has provided me with many hours of enjoyment, so please take at least one out of your day and join us both on a captivating ride through the cosmos. Take your "Drama Queen" for a ride, remove their "Crown Of Nothing" and "Open Your Mind" because "The World Is Ending (Sorta)."

This week I get to catch up with Sam and John of the Chicago based indie punk/emo/alt rock outfit KALI MASI. To try and describe the sound that is Kali Masi would be a disservice to its creators. Their latest album [laughs] has something for everyone with working ears. Sam, John, and I found ourselves diving down many different rabbit holes all the while pulling answers to our most serious questions with "[laughs]" and smiles.  If there is a point while you are listening to this at home and your dog goes crazy, we're not sorry, that's just some of the fun we had. If there is a time and place to listen to KALI MASI that time is now! While "Some Friends" "Sputter," we had so much fun it "Hurts To Laugh!"

Another week and another guest. This week I sit down with MAXWELL PLANES. Maxwell is a R&B/Soul/HipHop singer and guitarist. Maxwell's music is as he calls it " a fusion of soul, rap, and country with a layer of smooth R&B licks." Maxwell was heavily inspired by gospel music, and the feeling gospel provides. Maxwell's story is extremely unique in the fact that he grew up in a family with deaf grandparents and deaf parents. This forced Maxwell to find music on his own terms. He did not have the luxury many of us had with family providing the foundation of music in our lives. Maxwell and I discuss his journey in life and what it meant to have someone leave a guitar behind. Come hang out with us for a little bit,  Maxwell stopped "Runnin'" and ended up "Stayin'" right here with his amazing story!!!

This week I get to sit down and talk with THEO KANDEL, the talented singer/songwriter alt pop sensation. Theo has traversed the gravel road of a musical landscape. Growing up in New York City, then college in Nashville and now landing in Los Angeles. Talk about a musical journey, those three cities alone make for beautiful stories. Theo's most recent release "SPIN CYCLE" was penned after an emotional end to a relationship. A broken heart needs to be mended to feel love again, and Theo healed himself with his story put to music. The future makes sense when listening to your past, because that's where the truth begins. Theo's true journey begins now, and his music carries us all through the dark cloudy night to the brightest day. "How Could Anybody" think Theo's not a "Good Guy," 'cause "I Don't Want To Think About That!"

This week I had the delight of being joined by Austin based Danny Dunlap of GENTLEMEN ROGUES. Danny's career has spanned some glorious years, from his first band JILL (funny story in the show about them)then to the short lived QUIMBY on to THE FALL COLLECTION and now GENTLEMEN ROGUES. Danny has never stopped creating the powerful tunes that bring smiles to the faces that hear them. Danny has some amazing and intriguing stories to tell that need to be heard by not just me. Throughout the show Danny and I realize just what a small world we live in. The GENTLEMEN ROGUES music is the complete opposite of rogue, it is honest and principled in the feelings it evokes. Join Danny and I as we "Run From The Light" and go on our quest to find the "Last Of The Famous International Playboys!"

So I find myself back in "Music City", that's Nashville for those of you who may not know. I meet up with the sensational and ultra talented CALLIE McCULLOUGH . Callie and I discuss the meaning of community and how to find "your people." Callie's journey is unlike many I have heard before, from recording and touring with her mother to finding her own sound and spreading her wings to fly off alone. Callie hits hard with her infectious humility and captivating stories that kept me entertained the entire show. CALLIE McCULLOUGH'S  music will be labeled as country by most, but I will label it as sincerity. Callie's vocal prowess can be best summed up with one word "SILKY". Callie carries me on her wings filled with wild "Feathers" and soars the highest heights to show me the true value of "Five Dollar Pearls." An immense amount of fun was had on this show, hope you have as much fun as I did.

This week I hop over the pond to Limerick, Ireland and chat with Marty Ryan of the alluring outfit known as ANNA'S ANCHOR. What does it mean to be an independent artist and how do the littlest things push you forward? Marty answers those questions with the pure heart of an artist who teaches music to those less fortunate. Marty answers my questions with the sincerest answers you need to hear to appreciate not just his music, but his life. What started out as a solo project, ANNA'S ANCHOR, now has the foundation to lead it into the golden years of Marty's life.  Marty's mission statement is as beautiful as it's intended to be, "honest songs for honest people."  ANNA'S ANCHOR recent release "A Glorious Ruction" is as  far from a ruction as you can get! Look up the word ruction, cause we both know that you don't know it, well, at least I didn't.  "Everyone's Deserving" of joining us on our walk over "Shannon Bridge" and finding your own answer to the question of "What If There's More?"

Today I hooked up with NATHAN DUNN from the towering power pop punk band FOREVER STARTS TODAY  out of Austin, TX. Nathan's leap into the pit of melody making comes from the quest to master Guitar Hero. Bridging the gap between virtual guitar and reality of creating true magic on the real thing. Nathan's ride from Death Core to the uplifting anthemic tunes that is FOREVER STARTS TODAY's speciality could best be described as fluid. FST  punches you square in the face with the powerful hit making vocals of Christina Murphy. Along with the lyrics of hope, positivity, and discovery, FST makes you feel that all possibilities are "Limitless!" FST's power can turn the biggest pessimist into an "Optimist" and make them feel "Invincible" against the hardships of life.  While gazing upon the devastation in front you, you'll realize you are the "Last One Standing!"

Stay Tuned after the show for that powerful punch that is FOREVER STARTS TODAY!!!

We come back to the States this week with El Paso, TX's own JIM WARD!!!  Jim has had quite the extensive career, from co-founding the band AT THE DRIVE-IN, into forming SPARTA and SLEEPERCAR, to now making his solo record "DAGGERS". Jim's new venture of a solo album was created as in his words "by accident." Our discussion leads us down the road of learning about life in different times and the things done to make it easier. The shared experience of music is a powerful thing and Jim doesn't let those memories go to waste. Jim's version of his life is extremely humbling for someone so talented and important to my own musical journey. Jim's five bands that gave him the drive to create and believe anything is possible is something that should be heard by all. Let Jim carry you with a "Safe Pair of Hands" "Day By Day" to a place where your "Foreign Currency" will purchase you an "Electric Life!"

STAY TUNED AT THE END OF THE EPISODE TO HEAR "PAPER FISH"

Jim Ward - "Daggers" out JUNE 11th 2020 - PRE-ORDER NOW
