The 2015 Oscar nominations are out, and the nominees are overwhelmingly male and overwhelmingly white. Director Ava DuVernay is seen as one of the major snubs. While her film, Selma, was nominated for Best Picture, the movie received no other nominations except Best Song.

The semi-annual gathering of the Television Critics Association begins in Pasadena this week. Some of the more anticipated presentations are still yet to happen, but the focus of this winter's get-together seems to be the proliferation of over the top streaming services that especially appeal to a younger, more cord-cutting generation.

The situation at Sony isn't getting better any time soon. Following a threat of physical violence from the hackers, now believed to somehow involve North Korea, many theater owners said they would not show The Interview. Now, Sony has said they will not release the film in theaters at all, or via VOD.

No major surprises with Golden Globe nominations this year, but big snubs include Angelina Jolie's Unbroken and Christopher Nolan's Interstellar. On the TV side, the nominated comedies are more serious shows. Plus, the leaks from the hack at Sony continue to wreak havoc.

An attack by hackers on Sony Pictures has leaked movies online, revealed personal employee data like salaries and passwords and left the company paralyzed, unable to access email and voicemails.
