Hi everyone, today's podcast episode starts off discussing a bit of social media discourse on racism and the current situation with the George Floyd related protests and riots around the Black Lives Matter movement. However, the real "bread and butter" of this episode is centered around a documentary Kyle and Nic watched that goes into the depths of the Jeffrey Epstein (you remember him, right? He was a philanthropist, loving citiz... nope, he was the guy that sexually assaulted hundreds of women and was "in bed" with many famous people, including many politicians and then mysteriously committed suicide) story. So, without further ado, let's dive in.
This week's episode takes on a more somber and serious tone as the guys discuss the events that led up to and resulted from the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis, Minnesota on May 25th, 2020. There are still a ton of things to unravel within this story that will continue to evolve as mass protests erupt globally. Tune in to hear Nic and Kyle's initial perspectives and let us know your thoughts as well.

In this highly entertaining episode, the guys are joined again by friend of the podcast, Will Haynes. With Will's background in history, geography, and political awareness, all three start off the podcast discussing Joe Biden's latest comment - the infamous "You ain't Black!". Then, the guys take on politics for a good chunk of the podcast, discussing both candidates, the political system, and much more. Will goes into an exceptional discussion on South Africa's murder rate, geography, and education. Then, everyone finishes things off briefly discussing Joe Rogan's new alleged 100 million dollar Spotify deal and impressions on the topic. It's packed with great information from all sides, but especially from Will, and yet still manages a few laughs. Let's jump in!
The most epic rivalry in the History of the Strongman Competition will come to a head next year when two actual giants square off in the boxing ring in front of a worldwide audience. Hafthor Bjornsson (otherwise known as 'The Mountain' on Game of Thrones) will face Eddie Hall (2017 World's Strongest Man) in what can only be describes as a mega-ultra heavyweight bout for the ages. The future fight is immediately discussed on this week's episode and the guys closely examine what events between the two massive competitors took place to spark this famous rivalry.
Nic then hosts a fun game of "Musical Would You Rather" in which Kyle must choose between 2 iconic songs and reveal which one is his favorite choice, and why. Some lengthy and sometimes surprising answers are revealed during this segment and they get into some of their favorite guitar solos and sounds as well.
Kyle then proposes a question to Nic: "In your opinion, what would be the worst period in history to be alive?" Tune in to hear the answers and let us know yours as well!

In this episode, the guys dive right into an HBO documentary discussing the fraudulent company known as "Theranos" created and run by Elizabeth Holmes who found a way to dupe many investors and the country into believing her technology ideas. Then, Kyle brings up another documentary on Alex Smith's recovery from breaking his leg (there's a lot more to that story than him just breaking his leg, we promise...). Finally, a discussion of CoVID-19 protests, with guns? What's the point? Finally, a brief impassioned discussion of the Ahmad Aubrey situation ends this podcast episode - it's packed with stories and opinions - jump right in!
Namaste friends. This week on the Homespun Yak, the guys discuss a plethora of current events happening in the good ol US of A. One of the main topics of discussion in the political sphere is Democratic candidate Joe Biden's allegation of sexual assault when he was a Senator in the 80's. Will this impact the momentum of his campaign and will he be treated different or similar to Trump when sexual assault allegations were thrown against him before the last Presidential election? Speaking of divides between the political left and right in this country, they address how each side will react towards one another on the issue of wearing masks once restrictions and social distancing practices are relinquished. It seems as though social restrictions will eventually be imposed on the individual level and can hopefully inspire increased self awareness and healthy lifestyle choices for the future. Finally, the guys end on the topic of Michael Jordan and his unparalleled desire to win in every aspect of his life, not just on the basketball court. Athletes like Kobe and Cristiano Ronaldo seem to have best emulated Jordan's obsessive work ethic and drive to be the greatest, but we can't find any more modern examples of athletes who seem to want to reach that level. As always, thanks for listening!

The homies kick things off in nerd like fashion, by geeking out over a series of debates/dialogues now available on YouTube between two very learned Doctors: Jordan Peterson and Sam Harris. It's incredibly fascinating (and often difficult) to hear two powerful minds in different fields (psychology and neuroscience) discuss and explore their philosophies within religion and society to a live audience. Much can be learned by practicing civil and open conversations in our own lives, even with folks we don't always see eye to eye with. Anyway! Kyle then speaks about a few potential sponsors/friends of The Homespun Yak in the coming weeks and Nic breaks down one origin story of 420, which is deeply seeded (get it) in US History. Based on this story, the guys then pivot to deeper and potentially more sinister conspiracy theories of the Counterculture era in America. Operation MKUltra, Charles Manson, JFK and Jeffrey Epstein are all brought up in a hushed voice with wide eyes and quick swivels of the head. Seriously though, however you may or may not celebrate 420, be safe out there and be sure to check out the new ESPN documentary about Michael Jordan called 'The Last Dance'. Evidently he was a successful professional athlete in the National Basketball Association throughout the 1980s and 1990s. Not much else is known about the man, but this film should help to shed some fascinating light on his life!

In this episode, the guys kick things off, again, discussing the topic that has dominated the news over the past 4 weeks or more - coronavirus. However, after some discussion on its virulence and a bit on the first tragic coronavirus (SARS-CoV), they swing over to some odd questions (what 3 questions would you as YOUR cat?), before Nic detailing a battle he had on Age of Empires II. Then, a bit of discussion on the new RTX line of graphics cards being put into the Xbox Series X and Playstation 5 almost rounds out the episode, but Kyle introduces a story wherein a man was convicted of murdering his wife just 10 minutes away from Kyle's living quarters. Kyle, curious, checks out the house where the famous case revolved, and as he's still progressing through the story, we can likely expect more details next week, so tune in then, as well!
Well folks you asked for a 2 hour podcast and by golly did the guys ever deliver. Nearly 2 hours on the dot. A wide array of topics were discussed, a plethora of questions were brought up, and many 'what if' scenarios were proposed. The mandatory Covid-19 segment included tips and information on the efficacy of certain types of face masks from Nic's research on the subject. This quickly turned into a discussion on how folks are interacting with one another in grocery stores and on greenways and how this could change (or stay the same) even after all this begins to taper off throughout the world. Kyle then gives an excited update on one of his favorite ever sports documentaries now streaming on Netflix, called "Senna". This paints the intimate portrait of the life of Formula 1's greatest ever driver, Ayrton Senna and shows how he was maybe even more of a legend in his native Brazil for things he contributed off the track than on it. The guys then speak on the impact Jackass had on an entire generation and how some from those days have since filled the adrenaline void in both positive and negative ways. A highly entertaining video from Bam Magera addressed to our very own Bennie Berman is played as a part of this segment as well. The guys discuss dating, marriage, and relationship expectations in a Coronavirus filled world and how divorce rates seem to be skyrocketing now that spouses are locked in all day with one another. Strange times indeed, but let Homespunyak be a consistent comfort throughout these uncertain days! Tune in and Subscribe!
