Today’s thought couldn’t be simpler, or more important: Today—what’s happening right now and what’s about to happen next—today is tomorrow’s good ol days. These are the good ol’ days. It doesn’t seem like it. It never feels like it. But it’s true. As the wise wizard Albus Dumbledore once said, “Funny how historic days seem so ordinary when you’re living them. Perhaps that’s what happens when the world gets things right.” Today doesn’t feel historic because it’s still today. But tomorrow, today will be history. And the one thing that’s alway been true and will always be true … you can’t show up for today once it’s history. You can only show up for today, today. So, show up. Let today unfold however it may, just make sure you’re there when it does. Today, right now, is your whole life. Everything that is your life only really exists in this moment. Make the moment count. It’s very likely that today won’t feel historic for some time. But if you show up now, then when that future day does come—when you look back on today and nostalgia has filed away all its rough edges—then you’ll be able to say, “I remember that day because I was there, building myself a beautiful life.”
