We tend to be impressed by titles which describe what we do for a living. However, the Christian is given titles based on who he is, not what he does. In today's sermon we take a look at the prestigious and comforting reality of the titles God gives to his children recorded in 1 Peter 2-9-10.

Much of the NT teaches us about God - the Christian life by laying out doctrinal principles. However, the book of Acts teaches us primarily through example instead. At chapter 21, we learn a great deal from Paul's example when he agrees to humbly pay for 5 haircuts.

While Paul is teaching late at night at the church in Troas, young Eutychus succumbs to the demand for sleep and tragedy befalls him. This message teaches us why and how to listen and be alert on Sunday mornings.

We are so accustomed to the physical world around us that we easily forget that our battle is not against flesh but against spiritual forces in particular. Acts 19 gives one instance of such a fight and the victory that God's word has over even Satan.

Acts 19 presents a surprising group of men- They were -almost Christians-. This group of about 12 people was earnest, devoted and searching for quite some time, but not until they encountered the gospel were they able to believe and be made new.

As addictions continue to increase and self-control remains unpopular. Our national strategy is to attempt to medicate these addictions away. 1 Cor. 6-12 addresses the condition of the church - our message this morning recommends a biblical remedy.

The call to share the gospel echoes throughout the New Testament. In Paul's sermon recorded in Acts 17-16ff, we find an excellent example of what authentic evangelism includes.

In a culture that doesn't accept that truth exists, it is best to reach for people's hearts with the gospel than their ability to reason through truth. Like Paul in Acts 17, engaging in the culture is certain to cause clashes as people forever seek more information but believe nothing.

At the 1st Jerusalem Council the crucial matter of legalism was considered. Legalism is the religious tendency to seek forgiveness from God and acceptance by God through obedience to God. The dangers and the absurdity of legalism are discussed in light of God's unchanging grace.
