The end of Mark Chapter 10 finds Jesus on the way to Jerusalem in preparation for the cross, when he encounters a simple blind man who interrupts what Jesus is doing by his constant calling out to Jesus, begging Jesus to show mercy on him. The encounter begs the question, are we desperate enough? It also completes for this chapter the subject of asking of God for the right things.

Upon listening to Jesus comments to the wealthy young ruler that came to him asking Him what he must do to earn eternal life, the disciples are shocked at Jesus response to the difficulty of the wealthy to enter into Heaven. We like the disciples must learn a life seeking wealth and preeminence in this life is often a deterrent to life and preeminence in seeking eternal life, so that our lives don't end up tragic.

The story of a wealthy young man that comes to Jesus is a story of a life that is tragic. An individual with so much potential and ability. A life that seemed to want to truly know the Lord, but a life that was derailed from what it could have been. An individual that walked away from Jesus full of sadness. Why, because He had a misconception of reality and what is needed to have a meaningful life that ends with eternity in heaven. Listen and learn the lessons of this tragic account and how we can avoid our lives ending in such tragedy.

Jesus certainly loved and cherished children. Here we find that not only are they treasured gifts from God, but also that their childlike faith is a model for the type of faith we aught to strive to have in this life, and must have to enter into eternal life in Heaven.

Sin is that serious. Like a cancer it destroys all that it touches. It must be dealt with and must be removed. Which Jesus paid the price for with His death on the cross. Before His death, he taught just how serious it was, and that is was to be avoided, and dealt with. He also taught how serious it is to lead others toward sin. Finally he taught about the reality of hell, and all who refuse to have their sin dealt with will face the punishment of Hell.

Jesus followers were concerned about people that were not part of their group and were doing ministry in Jesus name. Sometimes we have the same questions about others who are not part of our church or denomination. At times we can get caught up in debates that distract from what we aught to be doing…doing work for Jesus. In this message we find a challenge to do the work that Jesus has called us to do, and we find encouragement in doing it!

We conclude our study of the book of Ruth with a look at Ruth and Obed, and the blessings of Redemption. See one more time the picture of redemption found in this book and the similarities we have with Ruth and the promise of hope that is found in her son Obed.

In the world today we certainly need Fathers, What we truly need a different Kind of Father. The example we are given in scripture is the example of God the Father. Listen how we are to follow the divine example we are given!
