Homecoming 2024 celebrates Pleasant Hill having served our community for 176 years.

Now going into the 177th year we invite former pastor Rev. Jim Brooks to bring a timely message of challenge and encouragement to the church as we go forward into the future.

Today we remember the last supper of Jesus and His disciples in the upper room. Where Jesus gave the symbols of His Body and Blood to be remembered forever before He went to the cross. But we often forget the connection of the Last Supper to that of the Passover Supper in which they were celebrating. Today we look at the picture of the The Passover along with connection to our Lord's Supper/Communion that we celebrate in church today. And we find that the prophetic picture of the Passover is worth more than a thousand words.

As we begin a new section of scripture in I John, we find the teaching regarding the last days. John helps us understand a message of the last days, the Anti-Christ, and the Spirit of the Anti-Christ, and above all how that what we believe really does matter. Sincerity is not always enough, but believing the truth is a key to living the real life as a Christian.

In this final segment of this section of scripture, we find the final reason we are not to love the world: Because of where the world is going. We also look at a path to avoiding the love of the world and embracing a knowing and doing the will of God!

I John teaches much about the Real life is founded and motivated by love. Not just any love but Godly love that God has given us.

However this week we continue our conversation about a Love that God hates…a love of the world. We are not to love the world because of what the world is, and because of who we are. This week we continue to share another reason why we are not love the world. Because of what the world does.

John teaches us that the commandment to love one another was both old, from the beginning, as well as new. Last week we learned about the new emphasis on the old command, and this week we learn that we have a new example and standard. The example of Jesus Christ that we are to follow and emulate as we love others.

As we have shared the significance and priority of Loving others Gods way, we have learned that all we do aught to be out of a heart of love. There is a love however that God hates. In this message we share from the book of I John just what kind of love that is.

The Bible at times can be confusing at first glance. This passage talks about a commandment that is both old and at the same time new. Join us as we share what this commandment is and why it can be both old and new, and how we it is so important we obey it.

In this passage, John gives us 3 possible options for dealing with our sin.

First was the wrong choice of trying to cover or hide our sin.

Last week, we shared the 1st correct choice of confessing our sin.

This week we conclude this mini-series with the promising hope that we can conquer our sin.
