When people go to work, they expect to be safe. Sadly, that is not always the truth. Workplaces accidents happen, but sometimes employers ignore things that create risk. A great example of this was my uncle. He worked for a company driving and working with heavy equipment at a work site for many years. But what he didn’t know was that the buildings on his worksite were contaminated with exposed asbestos. He and many of his co-workers developed cancer, and passed away. His employer eventually recognized their fault, and settled with the victims families.

Now imagine for a moment that you were a female who worked in the early 20th century. Imagine your employer knew what they were doing all along when they decided to lie to you, and put you in a direct line towards death.

Through the years, the little tasks that we have to do evolves with time and technology. We don’t have to go to the grocery store any longer with grocery delivery or meal preparations services. We don’t have to vacuum our floors, since we can now get a robot vacuum that can do it. But the one thing I don’t miss is going to the bank.

For me, going to the bank is the worst. Standing in line for what seems to be hours versus using an app? In my mind there is no contest. Think of all the time we save by using banking apps. But as you know; sometimes you still have to go to the bank, and for a pizza delivery man from the United States - going to the PNC Bank resulted in his death.

In 1993, a movie staring Bill Murray was released called Groundhog Day. In this film, a bitter and cynical TV weatherman played by Murray goes to a small town to film a report about their annual Groundhog Day celebrations. Soon after arriving, he finds himself living the same day over and over again. Originally this situation makes him frustrated and angry, but soon he starts seeing how reliving events could be to his advantage.

Now this is just a Hollywood tale, but if you ask anyone if they had deja vu - they would likely say they have. But imagine for a minute if a feeling of deja vu went longer than just a moment. Imagine if it just kept going on and on.

We have received many requests asking for us to do a show on aliens, and so far we have not done it yet. Why? Many of the tales about UFO’s are more current, and well…we are a show about spooky history. But then we tripped upon an incident that is considered to be one of the best documented UFO cases ever. It happened in 1967, and it happened in my own country.

One hundred and ten years ago, someone carrying an axe entered a home through an unlocked door late one night. They walked past one room which inside lay two sleeping young girls, and then snuck upstairs where they slipped past another room where four more young children were also asleep. The individual then moved into the next room where a husband and wife lay. By the next morning; six were dead and today we are still trying to figure out why, and by who.

To all of the parents out there - I salute you. Raising a child is extremely challenging, even in the best of times. Emotions and behaviours rapidly change as children grow, and learn about the world around them.

Children just like adults feel sad, anxious, upset, or even aggressive at times. But in most cases, this is typical in a child’s development. Sometimes though, it is not. Many mental disorders start in childhood. From anxiety disorders, ADHD, to depression and PTSD - many adults who reach out for mental health treatment realize that their issues started in childhood, and wish they had help sooner.

But there are times that a child develops issues, and they are not properly dealt with. There are also times that people do not see the signs early enough, and it results in disaster.

When I originally thought of telling you all about the real stories behind the Disney-fied versions of fairytales, I had no idea what you all would think. I am happy to say that you loved hearing the original versions, as much as I loved telling them to you.

The tales behind the Disney versions are full of darkness and death. They give us a view of the ideologies and biases of the times that they were written, but sometimes the bias is actually on Disney’s part.

Even though Disney wants us to think that all women are delicate, but strong princesses - that is not the truth. They want us to think that all men are valiant, but they are not. Good and evil are not as black and white as Disney makes things out to be. Not everyone lives happily ever after in a castle with their true loves.

In today’s society, many serial killers are thought about as terrifying monsters. Many try to dissect a serial killer’s actions to attempt to figure out why they did what they did. The thing that is terrifying though is the fact that many serial killers were never caught. It is horrifying to think that these people may be still out there, and could still be active. What if they are someone we know?
