A curse is any expressed wish that some form of misfortune will befall on a person, place, or object. Some believe that curses are created by a supernatural power while some believe that it can be created by magic or witchcraft. It is also thought that sometimes events occur that stain a person or object, and because of this a curse develops.

Many things are said to be cursed. There is a bunch of lore that talks about many kinds of things that are said to be cursed, but for me cursed paintings stands out. I love antiques. The thought that a piece of art that I bring into my home may cause destruction and pain is not something I usually think about, but when I researched some of the stories that you will hear today - the hair on the back of my neck stood up.

Hoarding disorder is a persistent difficulty with discarding or parting with possessions due to a perceived need to save them. People suffering with hoarding disorder experiences distress at the thought of getting rid of items, and because of this, excessive accumulation of items occurs regardless of their financial value.

There is little recorded evidence to prove if hoarding existed prior to the twentieth century. Historically though; hoarding started as a way to protect valuables from unrest, but it was considered sinful. At the turn of the century, studies started to occur on this and it was recognized as a mental illness. Today; help is available for people suffering from this, but historically many people did not get the help they needed which resulted in actions that put them in the history books.

People go missing all the time. All of us have seen terrified families on TV begging for their loved ones to come home, and then many people turn the channel. For those families, they can’t change the channel. Children alone account for an estimated 8 million individuals who go missing world wide per year. This is a massive amount, and an even larger amount of loved ones that may never get an answer on what happened.

This group of predominantly weathy plantation owners and business men united the thirteen colonies, fought for independence from Britain, and wrote a series of governing documents that still steers the countries direction today. These men revolted against their king, outlined their grievances in a powerful document that called for their freedom, and then fought for that freedom. They won what was considered to be a stunning victory over what was then the world's strongest superpower.

But the thing is that these men were still men. They were regular humans just like the rest of us, and like the rest of us - they had secrets that was best kept under wraps. You know what they say about secrets though...someday they always come out.

Throughout history; ancient relics and treasures from many cultures has been either stolen, or has gone missing. Often this happens during war time or when a disaster strikes leaving these precious objects unprotected. Sometimes they are recovered, but many still remain missing. The items you will hear about today have suffered this fate. Some may be destroyed, but it is thought that many still may exist. Maybe you have a long lost treasure in your attic.

The Hanged Man, The Chariot, The Devil, Judgment...with their iconic imagery, ancient symbols, and links to religion; tarot cards are seen as full of mystery. To sceptics, practices like card reading are not relevant in our modern times. But when you take a closer look, these beautiful pieces of art reveal that the power in the cards is not mystical, but comes from the ability of their imagery to illuminate our most complex issues and desires.

There have been many studies done on why people stay in relationships with partners that do not fulfill their desires and needs. Many of these studies show that people who stay in these types of relationships suffer from low self esteem, may perceive themselves to be less attractive, or have lower standards. Others believe that it also has to do with people seeing their romantic partners in an unrealistic positive way, or that they consider the alternatives not as desirable.

In the stories that you will hear today these may have been considering factors, but it still hard to believe that a low self esteem would have made these women stand behind their man.

Today is a really special day for me for several reasons…first - this episode is our last episode for season one! The other reason is that today you will hear an interview that I did recently with an amazing lady.

Malia Miglino is an actor and makeup artist who lives and works out of Los Angeles, California. She has her own YouTube Channel, and is the host of two of my favourite shows…Macabre Mondays and Grave Hunter. Her passion for story telling, history, and everything spooky inspired her to create her first show Macabre Mondays, which quickly gained a loyal following of who she calls her #creeps to which I am happy to say that I am one.

After learning about the increasing numbers of historic cemeteries disappearing, Malia created a second show called Grave Hunter to bring awareness to this issue, and help remember our ancestors. She has been around the world to speak on panels, travel to historic and possibly haunted locations, and does so with enthusiasm, and a glass of wine.

Historically; societies that believed in witches both hated, and feared them. This hate and fear was often directed at people for various reasons, and unfortunately resulted in them being subjected to witch trials. Because of this, many of their fates were sealed.
