On In The Market with Janet Parshall this week we took a hard look at what it means to be satisfied at work. Our guest challenged us and guided us with a step-by-step process designed to help us examine our jobs and determine there is something more satisfying out there, and if so, how to pursue it. Many have lost their lives standing up to and fighting against a broken system of belief that has now become casually acceptable to so many without the full understanding of the dangers inherent in it: Communism. We took a deep dive into what Communism is and isn’t, its history and while some today tout is a better system, a more fair system over Democracy, our guest explained the real history of destruction, repression and devastated lives that this philosophy has and continues to leave into its wake. Jesus was fully God and fully man and in order to accomplish that which the Father set before Him he had to take care of Himself, physically, mentally and spiritually. He practiced what our guest calls “soul care”. Our guest, a respected counselor on relational and mental well-being issues, shared some powerful snap shots from the life of Jesus to highlight the rhythms of His life and demonstrate how He took time to be alone, set boundaries with others and protected His calling and how we can do the same and in the process find rest and refreshment to do what God has called us to do. Our favorite Hollywood missionary was back with more stories of God at work in the entertainment industry and more spiritual needs to add to our prayer lists. When we examine the issue of religious persecution, we rarely address the impact gender has on this violation, especially in regards to Christian women who are often displaced and victimized in ways their male counterparts may not experience. We heard from a man on the front lines of ministry to the persecuted who helped us understand what it means to be marginalized for your faith and especially the life-altering impact it has on women and even their children. As we close the door on another week and get ready to breathe a sigh of relief, our need to remain aware and diligent does not disappear. So once again our favorite husband and wife team invite us to put our thinking caps on so that can continue learning how to use Godly discernment to understand the events happening all around us in our increasingly contrary nation and world and how to address them while grounded in God’s truth.
