It seems that they are each on their own but their two cases overlap and dangers abound, from all sides.

Interesting for Santa Fe, but must get names right
Connie Shelton's stories are average at best but her use of New Mexico, in this case Santa Fe (and Albuquerque) are intriguing. Her description of Santa Fe, and "spiritual centers" are right on. However, the narrator doesn't know how to pronounce Hispanic names in Santa Fe, which is a big flaw because much of the population, including the police force are heavily Hispanic. This occurred throughout the book but was especially annoying for a main character, Det. Gallegos. The is not pronounced as it looks it is pronounce "Guy-eg-os" and most everyone in New Mexico knows this. Also, there were some references to Gallup, NM that were also inaccurate. So a mediocre plot, but with good local description, was brought down by this lack of authenticity.

    Unhappy listener
Awful reader, ruined story for me. The voice reading this story was expressionless and dull. Needs life and vigour to be more enjoyable
    Agonisingly bad narrator
I've never reviewed anything in my life, but found listening to this narrative so torturous I felt I must save other people from it!
Really, really, really irritating. Long pauses, bad accents, inconsistent accents - just dreadful in every way I'm afraid!
It ruined the whole story for me.
    Good story but awful narrator
If this book wasnt for you, who do you think might enjoy it more?
Someone who doesn't care who's reading it.
How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
Change the narrator. Sometimes I wonder if anyone listens to the books before they go out for people to listen.
How could the performance have been better?
Im repeating myself by saying it"s the narrator that spoilt it for me.
What character would you cut from All the Colours of Darkness?
    None. The story was great.
    Good
As always with Peter Robinson, this is an enjoyable story, also like the reader. V.Good
    Poor narrator
I usually listen to a sample of any book I buy but on this occasion I did not. A pity, because had I done so I would never have bought it. The narrator seemed unable to differentiate between one voice and another so one was left wondering who was who exactly. The book may well be worth more than one star but unfortunately I could not bring myself to finish it. With so many superb actors out there who could bring a telephone book to life had they a mind to, it seems a pity that this particular one was selected.

    Publisher's Summary:
I'll shoot a policeman every day until you arrest the murderer of Hanneke Sloet.
Shortly after the South African Police Services receive this threatening email, a policeman is shot by a sniper and recovering alcoholic Benny Griessel is ordered to reopen the Sloet case.
Hanneke Sloet was a sensual and ambitious lawyer. At the time of her murder she was working on one of the biggest Black Empowerment deals in South African history. She was found dead in her luxury Cape Town apartment, a single stab wound to her chest.
After 40 days, the trail has gone cold. The first investigation could find no motive and no leads, only a set of nude photographs, an ex-boyfriend with a rock-solid alibi, conniving attorneys and financial double-dealing.
Benny has to deal with immense pressure from his superiors, the media and the unfathomable sniper, whose emails keep coming and who won't stop shooting. And then there's Benny's love interest, former pop sensation Alexa Barnard, who is also trying to rebuild her life after the ravages of alcohol, and Benny has to make sure she stays sober for her comeback.
At the same time, Benny's feisty colleague, Captain Mbali Kaleni, is hunting the shooter, trying desperately to find what connects him to Hanneke Sloet.
Both Benny and Mbali are about to endure seven days of hell.
    Critic Reviews:
Meyer is the leading chronicler of South Africa, and his latest novel shows off his technical skill . . . a dazzling performance. (Sunday Times Books of the Year 2011)
    Members Reviews:
    Deon Meyer at his best
What made the experience of listening to 7 Days the most enjoyable?
    Another winner from Deon Meyer.
Good narration, and a great cast of characters make this an enjoyable read.
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
    Fast paced story.
What does Saul Reichlin bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?
Great convincing narration, he is able to deliver the various accents of South Africa.
    Any additional comments?
Hope the next book is not too far away from completion!
    Pleasantly Surprised
What did you love best about 7 Days?
I'm a Deon Meyer fan so I knew I would enjoy the story. It was the first time I tried the audible format and I was sceptical. I'm very critical of narrators and I'll rather not listen to a book if I don't like the narrator for fear of ruining the story. I'm Afrikaans but enjoy reading in English. I thought I'd take a chance on this one. I was so impressed with Saul Reichlin. What a pleasure! You are a true artist Sir. How wonderful that I could listen to a fantastic story narrated by someone as good as you. Thank You for making a great story even more fun! You've got the accents down to a tee!
What was one of the most memorable moments of 7 Days?
Deon Meyer makes a character so "relatable". The effort to stop swearing, the inner demons you try to overcome daily, the insecurities you try to hide from the world, the way you wanted to write something down but forgot, the woollies meals, the challenges and joys dealt with daily in a very mixed culture environment in South Africa.... You feel like you can completely relate.
    Which scene was your favorite?
The one where Mr Griesel met the artists he admired and the moment overwhelmed his carefully planned responses completely.

    Very Creative Thinking
    Any additional comments?
This book is one of my favorites in the series. Relationships are evolving, and new characters are being introduced (including a dog). And be aware: Don't get too distracted or you'll be playing catch up during the big reveal. There's a lot of creative concepts packed into this one.
The narration seemed a bit rushed at times. I didn't notice this during the last book, and it won't stop me from downloading the next.
Just as good as the 1st!
What made the experience of listening to Death Blows the most enjoyable?
Johanna Parker's vocal talent continues to blow me away! She has a real gift for narration and story telling.
Who was your favorite character and why?
I really liked Dr. Pete. He turned out to be a complex character, yet still very likable.
Which character as performed by Johanna Parker was your favorite?
Of course Jace is my favorite and Gretchen is a close second. I love Jace's humor and introspection. It is a perfect balance to Gretchen's refinement.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
    Absolutely!
    Any additional comments?
Death Blows took my emotions on quite a roller coaster ride. I laughed, cried, got angry, and experienced a good chunk of nostalgia. That's how you know a book - especially an audible one - has done its job :)
My Favorite So Far From This Author!
I really enjoyed this book. It has just what I like in this genre - a tough heroine, a mystery and a little humor thrown in with the snark! Enjoyed Gallahad too! I've grabbed the next audiobook in this series already so I can continue the fun. LOVE Johanna Parker's narration!
    Definitely worth a credit
(First, I apologize for posting this same review on the wrong book.)
    1. As with any mystery, you want to see if you can figure it out as the story progresses. You might as well give up on this idea in the series. The writer builds "suspense" by having his characters constantly withhold critical information they knew from the start, disclosing it only in dribs and drabs. That's not suspense. It's annoyance. It would make sense if these characters were enemies, but they're supposed to be part of the "good guys" hoping to solve the crimes.
    2. I gave the performance 5 stars, because I love this narrator.

Beware of getting what you have asked to receive
M C Beaton has created a character who resonates with mature ladies. Agatha Raisin is a retired successful business woman who, although formidable on the outside, is putty on the inside, fallible, romantic and unexpectedly feminine. She lives in a Cotswold village and ends up solving murders in the tradition of the Revenger's Tragedy. In this story she has married her next door neighbour, James Lacey after the vicissitudes of courtship, only to find they are incompatible - he expects a dutiful wife, Agatha is not wired that way; her dream has become a nightmare. The inevitable murder occurs, James disappears. Agatha with her friend, the identikit nobleman, Sir Charles Fraith, sets out to find the truth, together with the half Chinese policeman, Bill Wong. The action is hilarious, includes a visit to a monastery in France and the wisdom of the Vicar's wife, Mrs Bloxby. The story is beautifully crafted with more to it than just entertainment and Penelope Keith makes listening to it a delight
    long journey listening
When you can't sleep at night or on a long journey nothing bette to listen too.
WithPenelope Keith reading , she has such an lovely voice to hear.
    Another good Agatha story
Agatha Raisin, another good story. Keeps you guessing until the very end. The gruff heroine sorting her hap hazard life out but things never go as straight forward as she would like.
    Enjoyable but very Middle England
If you can stomach the Tory-party-manifesto monologues from the character Charles then you will enjoy it. I struggle with it but still enjoyed the plot and Raisin as a character.
    Wonderful
What's not to love! Easy going, entertaining and captivating - a perfect listen! Looking forward to the next instalment.

Cute, loveable southern divas made me giggle
Maybe it's because I live in Tennessee or maybe it's because I know ladies just like these ladies -- but I found these "Diva" books to be delightful, silly, and fun. They are murder mysteries but certainly different than any I've read/heard before. For those of you who are looking for intellectual, SERIOUS, thought-provoking books, maybe these aren't for you. But for those of you over-40 women who may have experienced a hot sunny summer afternoon of teenaged silliness with your girlfriends, having a Sonic frozen drink with a little boost while laying in the pool (problems put on hold for an afternoon) ... then you are going to love these books. For those of you who have NOT experienced that, for heaven's sake, do so soon! And listen to these books!
    Another hit!
The Southern belles are at it again and it's just plain fun. The story is involved enough to keep you interested and guessing but the real treat is the characters and the narrator's accents. Listening to the trouble Trinket and Bitty get into is a little like watching Lucy and Ethel. This is another highly enjoyable listen. The quality of this story and narration means I will be enjoying this tale time and time again.
This is a fun take on murder mysteries.
What made the experience of listening to Drop Dead Divas the most enjoyable?
The narrator does so many different character voices it make you believe there are different people doing each character.
What other book might you compare Drop Dead Divas to and why?
    Not sure
What about Karen Comminss performance did you like?
I like her reading each character in with a believable different voice.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Not really, I enjoyed it but I would need a break from time to time.
    Any additional comments?
I just think theses books are a fun take on a murder mystery. I read so many thriller books that this one takes the serious tones out and makes it a little fun without any disrespect for the murder victim.
    Wasn't what I expected....
Bought this book to listen to because of the reviews. I, however, didn't "get it" as a book that kept my attention. I did listen to the entire book but it was a chore, not something I looked forward to as I usually do. Performance was good with all the southern accents but the story to me was stupid. If this is a series, I'm not a fan.
    Lot's of Fun
Would you listen to Drop Dead Divas again? Why?
    I would listen again.

Full of Typos, Spoils a Great Story!!!
I loved this story and would have given it 5 stars but, unfortunately, the text is so full of typos it was just too difficult to read. Over 50 typos just in the first half of the book! It really spoils the flow of a story when you have to keep stopping to figure out "stem" means "stern," etcetera. It is quite a ripoff for Amazon to sell this in e-kindle form without bothering to copy edit it first. Publishers are supposed to edit their books BEFORE selling them. I therefore cannot recommend buying this book for the kindle format and instead suggest you buy it in hardcover. I contacted Amazon customer service but they gave me a brushoff, refunding my money but removing my ebook. Shame on you Amazon!!! Sue Henry, you are a wonderful writer but your publisher needs to do something about this problem.
    Unlocked? Really?
I just finished Death Takes Passage and enjoyed it. The twists and turns of the plot kept me involved, and I liked being able to remember my own experience of the Inside Passage (albeit in the other direction) just last summer. My main quibble is the fact that the company made no provision for locking stateroom doors. It worked as a plot device, but I just find it too unbelievable that in 1997 travelers would agree to such a company policy. The unlocked doors allowed Henry to tell her story the way she wanted to, but it certainly didn't make those naive passengers believable to me.
This is the second Sue Henry book for me, and I think I'll try at least one more. I hope such a plot device doesn't come into play again.
    captivating and reminiscent for me
Having traveled on the Spirit of '98 myself, identifying with the ship and its journey was enhanced by the marvelous descriptive style of Sue Henry. These are two of my favorite of her characters too.
Too bad this was such a sloppy scanning job - it detracts from the entirety of the work! At least 50 cases of the wrong word due to improper scanning! Is this the face of future Kindle books?
    Not her best
I like Sue Henryâs books, but this one had no surprises. Plus, obviously no editing. The books is full of typos and errors. Disappointing.
    SUPER STORY - GREAT READING
enjoy all of her books. will read the rest of them ass they are very interesting, fun, easy reading, intriguing and wonderfully descriptive of the part of Alaska that I have seen. Nice to revisit and she is nicely informed about the area!!!!!!!

Good but not his most riveting
For some reason I found my mind wandering while listening to this book which doesn't usually happen with other Jeffrey Deaver books
    Tedious
Sometimes Deaver needs to dispense with the minutia of the investigative process and just tell us a good story. This is one of those times. The details of the investigator's personal life were an unnecessary distraction; abridging them would help maintain a more suspenseful story. The CI101 is also far too detailed. It sometimes felt like we left a novel and entered a textbook. The strung out ending just made me want to say "enough". Not one of Deaver's best efforts.
Just when you think it's almost over.....
Loved this book. Deaver has so many twists and turns, it keeps you guessing. He portrayed the Digger wonderfully. The singing was a great touch. Every mystery reader needs to read/ listen to The Devil's Teardrop. The characters are such that you feel you know them.
Jeffery Deaver at his most interesting read .
Would you consider the audio edition of The Devil's Teardrop to be better than the print version?
Have never read Deaver , only found him on Audio . I like Audio .

    Any additional comments?
    More Jeffery Deaver .
    Totally gripping
Mr Deaver certainly is the master of twists and turns in his plots - and was surprised by most of these. An excellent book, nicely read and full of suspense. I rushed through it to find what happened, and will reread to savour it better.
