Rule Number One: Must not lie.
Rule Number Two: Must not live with parents.
Rule Number Three: Must have a job.
Rule Number Four: Must not be a friend's ex.
These dating rules shouldn't be hard for Lucy Benoit to follow - after all, she made them. But she didn't plan on falling for Andy Sullivan, a scruffy-yet-attractive man who lives with his mother and is between jobs. These should be deal-breakers, but in other ways Andy is just her type. And there's something intriguing about him.
Andy isn't the geeky gamer he claims to be - not by a long shot. But what seemed like a harmless social experiment has put his chances of a relationship with Lucy at risk. Even if she can get past the silly rules she has set for herself, will she ever forgive him for breaking Rule Number One?

    Cute and entertaining
This is a new author for me and I really liked this book. I wish I had an empty afternoon where I could have read the book in one sitting. As it was, I only got a chapter or two in at a time.
Lucy is working hard to get her degree, further her career and fulfill her other life goals of marriage and a family. She's been burned so many times before, in lots of unique ways, that she has a whole list of what kind of person she'll be in a relationship with. Nothing too out of the ordinary. Things that we'd all put pretty high on the priority list. She's even got a guy that seems to meet the whole list. But no zing from him. A kiss from him was "like he was swashbuckling her mouth". Although swashbuckling looks can be nice, thinking about a kiss described like that sort of made me vomit in my mouth.
But when she meets and is attracted to Andy, things get complicated because he seems to break almost every requirement from her list. Lucy has a very open personality and is honest about her attraction to Andy and we see a lot of her internal debate. And I loved some of the lines:
"She was too warm with the sweatshirt and she considered pulling it off. But then, what if - oops - her tank top came off with it? And then maybe his shirt would be ripped off too, and the next thing you know, naked."
Andy actually fulfills Lucy's requirements just fine except for the big one - no lying. Which is why it looks like everything else is wrong with him. But these two have so much in common and have such a good time together that they just can't stay away. They like the same books and music. They have a good time going out together and talking. The lead up to their realization that they love each other was very natural and well written.
I felt like the secondary characters were a little flat - mostly used just as plot devices. Lucy's cousin, Becca, is in a lot of scenes and I liked her when she was interacting with Lucy. But when she's around Andy, I just had trouble liking her. It felt a little too unnatural to the rest of her personality - like her version of crazy can just turn on and off. Lucy was almost, vaguely cheating on her sort-of-boyfriend Dell that I had a twinge or two of "oh no", but he was such a flat, uninteresting person that I just didn't really care. I was glad Becca and Dell both ended up resolved by the end of the book.
The sexy-times were hot and enjoyable, but not overly explicit. I thought Andy/Drew did a really good job of making things right at the end.

    Constant heart
What a wonderful and intriguing storey once again told with passion which makes it easy to listen to
Good as usual but not for me.
This is, as usual, a very good Dilly Court book. I, however, found it hard to follow, I don't know why but this always happens when the stories are on boats, ships etc. I prefer the story to be on land. The narration is the same as ever, good but always the same in her books, Annie Aldington, who always sounds the same in Dilly's books. She is an excellent narrator but sounds better in other books and in my opinion also sounds different. I have a lot of books with Annie reading them and sounds great.
    The Constant Heart
Another lovely story to listen to . I found it hard to put down and even listened while doing the ironing! DIlly Court writes such beautiful stories and Annie Aldington a brilliant narrator. It was sad in parts but the ending was lovely. Life must have been very hard for some people in those days.
    Fantastic story
Well done to the author for this beautiful and heart felt story. Well done Annie Aldington for reading it to the audience!
    beautiful story
incredible narration yet again from Annie Aldington. Her adaption of voices takes you into another world. I am a massive fan

    Did I miss something?
Both these stories are pretty predictable and basically dull. Sorry. I found my self fast forwarding and/or falling asleep.
Neither narrator was all that good and really bordered on bad. Have no idea where the five stars came from. Again, sorry!!!

Replacement copy of an old favorite
The story is a bit dated, probably from the 1980's. Male lead character is a bit manipulative and female character is a bit passive. Some elements of the story are hard to accept, but that's why they call it fiction. Summary: Young woman working in a catering business accidently gets concussion while delivering food to rich guy's private jet and ends up in Mexico without a passport, clothes etc. Rich guy schemes to keep her there to thwart scheming grandmother who wants to see him happily married, but not to a scheming cousin who is determined to have him as her husband. A romantic romp with the English
Let's face it. The romance novel started in England (Austin, Bronte's) and we're all just itching for it to get back there. The country might be stuck in the past and have its current issues, but if you're just reading about manor houses, family feuds and horse riding, what's not to like?
A Class Apart puts Octavia, heir to Radleigh, on a collision course with Jake Bentley (the name incidentally of the author's dog!). She has the title and background, he has the money and they both want the house. She's feisty (and rides a motor bike) and is still dealing with a childhood that wasn't quite as privileged as it seems at first glance. He's had his own tough childhood and made good and doesn't suffer fools. Enter a cast of characters including the Interior designers that Octavia works for who have agendas they aren't letting on about, locals who have their own plans for the area that don't include Radleigh and a few skeletons in the closet, you have a fast paced story that never leaves you bored and is always giving more. With Soliman you are always in good hands so you can just sit back and enjoy.
The setting is of course, very English, and its lovely to just sit back and let it roll over you and be part of it, not having to worry about death duties and things that the owners are dogged by in the real world!
The romance is beautifully woven throughout, the chemistry obvious but things keep getting in the way until the last third where their compatibility becomes obvious and they join together to solve their mutual and separate problems.

It took me a while to get into the story, but I eventually started to enjoy it. Kat is a very independent strong female character, I enjoyed her. Conlan is guy that needs to learn trust I cant blame him; she did run out on him and leave him with his hand caught in the preverbal cookie jar. Its hard to be held accountable for someone elses actions. But the trust & the need to help her happens quickly, just as quickly as everything else does in the story. I felt a bit rushed. The story is entertaining, but put your seat belt on, cause its a fast ride.
Dina Pearlman did not add to the magic of the story. Pearlmans voice is strong, but there was no note of inflection or tone, which is what draws me in and holds me when using an audio. You can choose to listen to the story her voice is adequate, but with no magic.
Overall, you may see this listed as 4 star but I would give it 3 stars. Its not a bad, or poorly written story. Its entertaining, but very fast paced for me, and the audio added nothing to capture & hold me.

This was my first Whispersync novel and let me tell you I loved that feature. Now I only want books that do that. Only problem is I hated how this book was narrated. If I only listened to the book I don't think I would have been able to get through it. Didn't like the voices she used and thought the accents were bad. But I liked the book was tense when I needed to be and teared up at the sappy part

    great read
The Truth About Tara by Darlene Gardner
    ISBN: 9780373718030
Jack DiMarco had followed a doctor to the island off the Chesapeake shore in hopes of having him do an arm surgery so he could play baseball again. After talking to him he was back on the mainland with the advice to find a different job in life or rehab as another had done.
Earlier he had stopped a PE school teacher on her way to work and showed her the picture from his sister Maria, a PI of what a missing 3 yo child would look like 30 years later and it fit her description completed. Tara Greer denied that it was her and that
she had always lived in town, not in another state at all. Problem is she has memories of being someplace else, being shaken to shut up... Could it be that she really is that missing person.
She was always running to her mothers help, she had fostered a Downs syndrome boy. Tara's father and sister had died in a crash in the past and the anniversary date was coming soon and probably her mother'd want to commemorate it.
Her friend Mary Dee had recently married and was always trying to hook Tara up with eligible bachelors.
Love the locale of the seashore, wild ponies and other trips around the area.
Her mother had signed them up for summer camp for 2 weeks so they'd all be together: tara, Carrie and Danny.
Tara begins to doubt things when she asks to borrow the picture albums from before they moved to town and her tells her they all got damaged. There are no infant pictures of her, just toddler ones...
As Jack is rehabbing himself with exercises his coach had given him he finds the ad in the paper for a volunteer position at Camp Daybreak. He figures it will fill in some hours of his new daily life.
Jack's not told Tara about his past and his injuries. Tara has not told Jack about her past, her injuries and life choices...
Besides Jack and Tara spending time together, Carrie has her eyes on the camp owner, Gus, who also plays in the band on Friday nights.
Tara takes matters into her own hands and does and doesn't want to see the results....
    strong romantic family drama
Coming from Kentucky, injured minor leagues baseball pitcher Jack DiMarco arrives in Wawpaney on Chesapeake Bay's Virginia Eastern Shore seeking to speak with physical education elementary school teacher Tara Greer. He gives her a computer generated age progression picture of Haley Cooper who looks exactly like Tara. Jack explains his sister is the private investigator looking into the case of a missing child who vanished in Louisville twenty-eight years ago.
Tara denies she is that girl as she says she has lived here all her life. Jack believes her assertion and tells his sibling Maria by cellphone that she is not the one.

Great love story with plenty of action
We met Daniel LeCroix in Soldier's Pregnancy Protocol. We know he has a bad history with Senator White and also some sort of history with his daughter Nicole who had been kidnapped in the last book.
As this book starts out Daniel, Alec and Jake are in Columbia to rescue Nicole from her kidnappers. They find her in a dingy cage cuddled around a little girl who had also been kidnapped. On there escape Daniel is shot in the knee. Its during this time during flashbacks we find out that Daniel and Nicole have known each other for 10 years.
Ten years before on prom night Daniel had helped Nicole rescue a kitten. He fell in love with her then but he knew she would want nothing to do with a boy from the swamps of Louisiana. Five years later they meet again where they have a steamy one night affair but Daniel misunderstands something he hears Nicole saying to her father on the phone who doesn't think Daniel is good enough for his daughter.
Back in present day after the rescue Daniel has to be the one to tell Nicole that her father betrayed their country and give up Daniel and Alec (in Soldier's Pregnancy Protocol). She doesn't want to believe it and also doesn't understand the hostility Daniel has for her.
When another attempt is made to take the girl that Nicole is keeping watch over Daniel decides the Senator still cant be trusted and takes both Nicole and the girl to his childhood home in the swamps of Louisiana.
I really liked all the scenes at the house. Daniel and Nicole had to work through their issues with each other while both trying to connect and take care of the little girl.
We got to see how Alec and Erin are doing - and she has the baby finally.. We also got to meet Jake who I understand will get his own book in the future.
    Good Reading
I have rated this book 5 stars for the reason that I did not expect Beth Cornelison writing such a great book "The Renunion Mission" I know I have all the books of Black Ops Rescues, and will read them again. Bought these book from your_online_bookstore. Great work. Sincerely Janice
    Great read.
This is my second book by Beth Cornelison and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I will continue to read her books and look forward to more.
    Quality Writing
Recently discovered Beth Cornelison and love her work. Will continue to read all of her publications. Great combo of romance and danger.
    Exciting
Both of these stories were GREAT...so exciting I had both books done in no time. The first one had mystery and excitement as well as did the second one. I will be looking for future books from the author. GREAT!
