Publisher's Summary:
Heavy rains and strong winds slammed an uprooted tree through Steve Crowell's roof, leaving a gaping hole to match the one in his heart. After his ex left him for a younger man, Steve's not sure he's ready to handle another disaster.
His best friend highly recommended a contractor, but the man's already late. When he shows up with his music thumping, Steve isn't impressed. Until Riley steps out of his pickup truck. Personable, gorgeous, Riley talks a mile a minute, which Steve finds both ridiculously endearing and terrifying. Piecing together a heart isn't as easy as fixing a roof, but Riley might just be the right man for the job.

Hmm
I thoroughly enjoyed the story and how Steve and Riley danced around each other and decide to each take a chance on the other. However, I felt the story is incomplete. I wanted more from this story, to see how they interact and live. Perhaps an epilogue would work...
Not much to it, but a nice story.
Sweet story about the very beginnings of a romance. If you want ANY relationship development past the flirty, getting-to-know-you phase before a first date, look elsewhere.
I have a thing for May-December romances, but this barely felt like one. Other than the author's overemphasis on the 45-year old MC looking old (with bifocals and gray hair, I mean, my hubby is nearly 40 and still smoking hot! :D), it felt like any other story.
I liked talkative Riley with his BIG tool belt (heh, but seriously, I could have used some sex content so I could have found our just how big his tool was) and his super-flirtatious ways. I thought his interactions with Steve were cute, and though I wish there was more to the story, it was a nice taste of the start of their relationship.
In terms of the narration, I found Philip Alces to be a bit... theatrical for my tastes. I didn't find either of his voices for the two MCs to be particularly appealing, and though he was a very enthusiastic narrator, I wasn't crazy about him. This might just be personal preference, though. He did a decent job, but I'm not sure if I'd listen to him again.
All in all, a very "good" story without being a standout.

Beginning to a great story but...
This is a short book where the ending is the beginning.
Instead of being a book about a relationship, this is really and truly just about the beginning of a relationship. Steve is older, has a thing for younger guys, got burned by the last younger guy, isnt getting any younger himself, and still has a thing for younger guys.
Riley is a younger guy with a thing for older guys. Hes super sweet, adorable, chatty very chatty and he lives at home and tries to keep his dad healthy.
Steve is into Riley, but is worried about being burned again. Riley is into Steve, but worries that Steve isnt into him.
Most of the book is them dancing around this issue. Then bam they go on a date.
The End.
So the end is the beginning.
