Do not buy

I love Dr. Amens work or I did. I bought this and didn't really look well/notice it was 9 minutes long. I feel dumb and cheated. It's a poem. Don't waste your money.

I don't think I'll buy any more of his work. Really. $13 dollars to hear someone read a poem? My mistake, but his too. Never cheat an audience who likes your work.

Really fun!

This is a very fun book! My son is a reluctant reader so I showed it to him and then left it sitting out for him to see on his own timing, He sat down to just look at it and right away started telling me about all the silly dangerous things happening! He did not sit and read it cover to cover, but it has been a neat book for him to pick up and read a little at a time!

Delightful

And Sometimes Y offers another look into life in Sundog, MN. I enjoyed it as much as the first book, The Howling Vowels. The imagery invoked throughout the story was delightful. Reading how Alexa and the Vowels wrestle with issues brought by a stranger was riveting. I was happy that "Y" became a friend and was helped by the Vowels. I loved the recipes at the end of the book.

Relationships

I admire the mother - daughter authors and how they combined to relate opportunities offered to a newly-minted teenager. The character Alexa is a mature 13 year-old who appreciates the opportunities given to her by her family and especially her old vowel friends and her new sometimes-y friend Yves. It is interesting to follow the friends' thoughts as each approaches his friendship with Yves.

This is a cute kids Christmas adventure. I'm only sorry my son is grown up and I have no grandkids to read it........yet!!

Great story but the narration. I think kids will love this story mostly because it drove me crazy. That's typically how it works. The story was cute. I liked it. And I admire the author's ambition to do this.

The narration was interesting. Giselle Lumas narrates using a variety of different voices which is why I think kids will love it. Especially the age group the story's meant for. One of the characters has a high pitch and my cat even loved it. Although this is a Christmas-y story, kids could listen to this anytime.

adorable

this book doesn't bear a very close relationship to the original Aesop fable, which is a tale that castigates the grasshopper for being lazy. this book celebrates how the grasshoppers beautiful music helps steel the ant for further labors. they are yin and yang friends.

Beautiful illustrations and well written for the entire world. Not just the little ones.

Enjoy reading this to my grand daughter.
