Fancy Nancy is More than just a Pretty Book

I honestly had my doubts when Fancy Nancy came on the scene. I never thought I would like a sparkly princess type book. But she is more than just sparkle and shine. This book tells about making the best of things, being loving and checking out the stars. I love her vocabulary use!

Fancy Nancy rocks!

I love Fancy Nancy books! They introduce my daughter to new "fancy" words. When I bring up a word in conversation that she might not know, I find myself saying "that's fancy for..." so it helps her remember the new fancy word I taught her! I bought this Stellar Stargazer book for my 3 1/2 year old niece and although this particular book might be difficult for her to understand now, she'll enjoy it when she's 4 or so. For girls growing out of these young books, there are Fancy Nancy chapter books too!

Yet another great book by Jane O'Connor in the Fancy Nancy series! Adorable illustrations, as ever, and wonderful scientific-based information about stars set in fun family-time story about watching stars. The glow-in-the-dark cover is a cute bonus!

BUY IT

AWSOME book! if you are looking for a girly yet educative book for a little girl, this one's it. Unlike other fancy nancy books (which are still nice stories nonetheless!), I have found that in this one you learn facts without realizing it. Its even good for adults seriously! Loved it.

Flo Gibson captivated our children, years ago, with her readings & now she is captivating another generation in our family. Her unique voice holds the attention & can also be soothing.

Though the Potter books are aimed at the youngest generation, I found myself not wanting to leave the room until the end of the tale.

A great book for kids who like "not too spooky"

Would you listen to Billy Bones: Tales from the Secrets Closet again? Why?

Sure. The main character is engaging, the narrator is very good and the story is a real original.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Billy, of course, but there are so many entertaining characters it's hard to pick. Okay, I'll go with a few - Billy's friend Millicent, Dame Biglum, and Glass-Eyed Pete the pirate. They are all feisty and fun.

Any additional comments?

Peter Bishop's reading is a dead ringer for Neil Gaiman, which is weird! His voice and accent are eerily like Mr. G's.
