    Publisher's Summary:
A lone man must make a journey across a once-colonized alien planet abandoned by mankind when it was discovered that the species there were actually sentient.
Gundersen returns to Holmans World seeking atonement for his harsh years as colonial governor. But now this lush, exotic planet of mystery is called by its ancient name of Belzagor, and it belongs once again to its native alien races, the nildoror and the sulidoror. Drawn by its spell, Gundersen begins a harrowing pilgrimage to its mist-shrouded north to witness a strange ritual rebirth that will alter him forever.
This is one of Silverbergs most intense novels and draws heavily on Joseph Conrads Heart of Darkness. It puts listeners at the heart of the experience and forces them to ask what they would do in the same circumstances.
    Critic Reviews:
Blends mysticism, world-building, and literary references in an inventive mixThis is perhaps SFs finest tribute to Joseph Conrad, both in its keen moral sense and its portrayal of a vividly realized alien forest. (Time Out)

A fantastic adaptation of Heart of darkness
What did you love best about Downward to the Earth?
I read it a second time just recently and it was just as good as the first. It's a exciting and compelling adaptation of heart of darkness. A redemption novel with compelling creatures and a distinctive world. So far, this is the only Robert Silverberg book I've really liked. I'm going to read another but Up The Line wasn't all that interesting to me. This book has more wisdom to it than most and best of all it has a good ending, something separate from most science fiction. Something very compelling. I won't say more!
Have you listened to any of Bronson Pinchots other performances before? How does this one compare?
I thought the audio performance was great. Didn't think of it too much, he did a good job of pulling me into the story rather than thinking about the performance.
    Any additional comments?
My only complaint is that the story line is kind of a now classic hollywood tail of white man comes to feel bad about imperialism and his role in it. A thing the character should feel but the narrative is still on the greatness of the guy, his personal learnings, not of the charecters effected by the company and imperialism. But, that complaint is a nuanced one and criticizing silverberg on that seems a little unfair. he did not grow up in a hyper aware time.
    Love this book
I have never encountered SciFi like this. I felt as though I was inside one of the Heinlein side stories. It's a must read.

    Publisher's Summary:
The long-awaited sequel to Time and Again . Si Morley is back and the world may never be the same.
When Time and Again was published in 1970, it immediately developed a loyal following that has grown with each passing year. With this book, Jack Finney returned to the same magical territory and finds Ruben Prien still at work with the Project, still dreaming of altering man's fate by going back in time to adjust events... to interfere, some might say, with destiny.
Once again, the conduit to that bygone era is Simon Morley, the man who actually proved himself capable of traveling back and forth in time. This time, he does so with a grand purpose: an attempt to prevent World War I.
From Time to Time is a tale that is both thrilling and nostalgic, magical and terrifying, charming and full of suspense.
    Critic Reviews:
"Finney takes us on an ebulliently guided tour of old New York." (Frank Rich, The New York Times Book Review)
"In more ways than one, reading Jack Finney will transport you back to a better time." (The Washington Post Book World)

    The Fate of a Sequel
Ever have the feeling when reading a book that you must have skipped a page (or two, or three or ten) because the story suddenly makes NO SENSE?
This is the sensation I had throughout most of this book. I cant tell you with any certainty if its the story jumping around or if its my attention fading in and out but I was clearly not as riveted to this book as I was to Book 1! ("Time and Again" - Excellent!!) I think I missed a few crucial threads early on.
Its the fate of a sequel I guess; the better the predecessor, the higher the standards for the following instalments.
    Love the performer but...
the story is a bit long-winded in places and not as intriguing and exciting as the first. Seems there were some holes in the story or I missed something.
    It's ok, but not earth-moving...
I really liked the first book, although found the premise of how they shift from one time to another to be too simplistic. This time he barely has to try, and he is all over the place. But aside from that, the first story ended so well, and they had to undo that to tell this story, and maybe that is where it fell down.
I'm not returning it, but don't need to hear it again. Hope this helps you decide.
    Second Time Around
I read these books many years ago and was pleased to see Audible had made them available. Enjoyed them both for the second time.
    Needs more plot
I lived Time and Again for its vivid description of New York AND its application to the plot and suspense of the story. Time to Time starts with promise but I found myself bogged down for a large part of the story. The description of 1911 New York was great but, since it didn't develop the plot as well I got bored at times. Nice to revisit Sy and see where he settled.

Ever wanted visuals while audio book listening?
What did you love best about Agatha H and the Airship City?
Loved the story, but discovering that I could look at the online comic WHILE listening made for a fully immersive experience. I have often wished for images to go along with audiobooks and this has almost the whole story illustrated. FANTASTIC.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Jägermonsters are probably my favorite. All of the characters have pretty well rounded development.
    Which scene was your favorite?
Climatic scenes where Agatha's clanks come to the rescue are pretty exciting.
Good story, engaging characters, exc narration
This book is great fun. The authors have created a very unique world populated with interesting characters and plot that moves along nicely and makes it hard to put down. Although it is a tough world, the book does not take itself too seriously, and it had me laughing out loud quite a few times. The narrator is really good with fitting voices for the various characters. In particular, it is hard to not smile whenever the Jeagermonsters (sp?) say anything. I heartily recommend this book for all ages, as it has a rating of about PG I think. I hope it isn't too long before the next book comes out and that Ms. Dawe will narrate it.
HE THREW A BOMB AT ME
    Saturday Morning Cartoon
This just wasn't my cup of tea. I listened for over four hours, but could not get into. The world they created was a sort of cool Steampunk world and I can see lots of people liking it for that reason. The story was very simplistic. For example in the beginning the lab assistant is under pressure to clean the lab before an important member of the government comes in to make an inspection. She cleans everything up and puts it all in the closet. During the inspection, as expected, the closet gets opened and everything comes tumbling out. This prank is so old, it is embarrassing to see modern authors use it today. The characters seem to be written by someone with autism.
I don't know if it was the narrator or the way it was written, but each line sounds like an announcement of some kind.

All will be answered, if he can survive the ship.
Hull Zero Three is an edge-of-your-seat thriller set in the darkest reaches of space.
    Members Reviews:
    very good sci fi thriller
I read a sample of Hull Zero Three on a gaming site the author contributes. I found that sample of writing much to my liking. So I waited patiently for Audible to release the book. As soon as it came out I used my credit point. I am not disappointed for my purchase. The writing style is very good. Very fluid.
The story is is narrated on first person by an awakened crew member of a large colonizing space ship. Early on we know that the ship is in a chaotic state. The crewman has been awakened before reaching final destination apparently and he has to quickly adapt to survive and discover what has gone wrong. So the narration of first person works very well as the reader, or listener, discovers clues of what is happening or has happened at the same time as the crewman. I felt the resolution was good, even though not everything is answered, and some answers were speculation of the crewman. But that should be the case as the crewman has limitations to what he can discover due to events.
The narrator is very good. I listened to the sample and liked his voice and style of narration. I cant complain there. Very good audio experience.
This is my first Greg Bear book and liked it very much. I will probably look for more of his books.
    OK story, horrible performance.
Don't have a problem with Greg Bear, his stories have been solid. This is the first audiobook if his that I have gotten. Unfortunately I would have to review a Dan Miller book before I purchase another of his readings. His interpretation is overly dramatic and it skews the entire book. Might work for YA's but for SciFi is it way over the top. He seems to want to find a dramatic flair in almost every paragraph. Get over it dude! If you had a director or producer for this, they should be fired. If you didn't, get one. I'm at the three hour mark, and will likely abort the rest and use Audible return-book feature. Sorry I'm trying, we'll see.
    Happy With Purchase
Classic Bear. Was kept interested throughout. The genetic theme was well thought out and written, and the characters fit the story, although as always for me the narration is key. Dan John Miller did a fine job.
    A truly daring attempt..
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
While I was reading this book I was aware of and glad of being smart enough to figure out what was going on...that is to say, it took some thought and close reading. I can imagine people just putting this down and not picking it up again. I stuck it out to the end and was not entirely satisfied because in some ways the end did not justify the means.

    Publisher's Summary:
The dazzling new Culture novel from a modern master of science fiction - a tour de force of brilliant storytelling, world-building and imagination.
It begins in the realm of the Real, where matter still matters. It begins with a murder. And it will not end until the Culture has gone to war with death itself.
Lededje Y'breq is one of the Intagliated, her marked body bearing witness to a family shame, her life belonging to a man whose lust for power is without limit. Prepared to risk everything for her freedom, her release, when it comes, is at a price, and to put things right she will need the help of the Culture.
Benevolent, enlightened and almost infinitely resourceful though it may be, the Culture can only do so much for any individual. With the assistance of one of its most powerful - and arguably deranged - warships, Lededje finds herself heading into a combat zone not even sure which side the Culture is really on. A war - brutal, far-reaching - is already raging within the digital realms that store the souls of the dead, and it's about to erupt into reality.
It started in the realm of the Real and that is where it will end. It will touch countless lives and affect entire civilizations, but at the centre of it all is a young woman whose need for revenge masks another motive altogether.
    Members Reviews:
    amazing narration
Like all of Iain M Banks' Culture novels that I have read, this one was vast, mind blowing and in parts hilariously funny. The best part about Banks in audio is that my mind can wander during detailed descriptions of space (or other) battles, and not have lost the thread when the interesting (to me) stuff starts up again.
The narrator gave a unique voice characterisation to every one of the many major and minor characters, making sections of the story that I think I may have skimmed in print utterly engaging in audio. I'm sure the book has its faults, I've seen other reviewers complain about Veppers being a cardboard cutout pantomime villain, and they're right. I just didn't mind though, so much did I enjoy the personalities of the rest of the characters, especially the ships' Minds.
    Loved it.
Probably Iain M. Banks best Culture novel
Playing with the concept of life after death in the advanced Culture we've met in 'Consider Phlebas' Banks brings a new twist to his Culture novels. While his other novels were almost all tragedies, this novel comes over more philosophical and succeeds in making the reader think about concepts like 'soul, consciousness, mind' and 'being.' While the story is most of the time straight forward, Bank's captivates with interesting characters that he bring together in an unexpected way. Peter Kenny's interpretative reading is topnotch. I never opted out and he kept the characters very alive and interesting. This audio book comes highly recommended.
    Banks' imagination knows no boundaries
Once again I was completely immersed in the universe of Iain M. Banks: both in the Virtual and the Real, although the lines tend to blur frequently. He does not spare us in his depictions of the virtual hells - even Hieronymus Bosch would feel queasy at times - but his quirky inventiveness shines throughout.
The first-time visitor to the Culture would probably feel overwhelmed by the cornucopia of Minds and intelligent life forms, pan-human and otherwise.

Colonel Andrew Keane and his blue-coated soldiers were not the first humans time-space-warped to a world so familiar yet so foreign. Humans abounded on the perverse planet-humans treated like cattle by the alien warrior overlords. Keane's Civil War weaponry defeated the swords, spears and crossbows of his monstrous adversaries. And part of the human population was freed, but the other part became puppets of the overlords in a vast counterattack. Now it was human vs. human, gun vs. gun, ironclad against ironclad, as the empires of Roum and Cartha clashed in gut-wrenching, soul-stirring struggle for the future of a world beyond time.

The Union meets Godzilla the Hun.
Well written action and battle with nice character development. You not only are led to understand the motives of the Union soldiers but you also look through the eyes of some of the baddest bad guys you are likely to run into and see from their point of view what makes their actions logical and right by their culture. The humans have to win this one for there is no retreat. It is hard to believe there are worse things than to be dead on a U.S. civil war battle field or even to be a prisoner of war in some place like Andersonville or Point Lookout but on this world there are.
    Its kinda like MacGyver
[Cut down one of those redwoods; hollow-out a dozen 2x4 diameter holes around the top, and one 4x12 diameter hole on the back end; pack the dozen small holes with black-power and shot and line the big hole on the back with bronze to form the combustion chamber. Then use the Zn shavings and sulfurous acid to make the hydrogen fuel and SWOOSH!!!].
Just kidding; its not quite that bad but it is very imaginative. Dont misunderstand, I love this stuff .
    A better then usual sequel
Not quite as good as the first but still worthy of 4 starts since I can give 1/2 stars. A few too may "we can pull that off faster then possible" moments and "we just happen to have this laying around" situations to but still fun to listen to.
    So. Many. Dead.
I could hardly put it down, even though it's almost depressing with how much adversity there is.
Amazing book, get it if you liked the first one.
    Last Two Chapters
The last two chapters were edge of your seat non stop action. Overall, an excellent story and entertaining sequel. I plan to buy book three!

    The life of Justin Cord
This is one of the most complex books I've listed to in the history of story telling. More moving parts than an engine and it was all worth it. Not once was I wondering, my god where is this going? I feel if I talk about anything in this book than it would spoil it for the people whom loved the Unincorporated Man. Justin Cord is still true to his nature but war has taken a little bit of his compassion away.
It took me a little bit of time to get used to Eric G Dove as narrator as Todd McLaren had painted the people in this world with such a detailed brush in the unincorporated man. There should be a rule if your going to start a series and your excellent at it then you need to drive it all the way home.
It was worth my time and energy it took to listen to this book. And really, isn't that what you REALLY want?
I will be buying the next book.
    to be continued !!
If you are anything like me and hate to wait an indefinite amount of time for a sequel just to find out how the story ends, avoid this book !!
It's a great story but I would never have bought it, if there had been so much as a hint, that the book ends somewhere in the middle of it.
Even if / when the sequel is published, I will refuse to buy it until I am absolutely sure that it concludes the story.
So I cannot rate this with more than 3 stars, although the story itself certainly deserves at least 4.
    Great disappointment !
not as good as first book
This sequel took a while to get interesting due to having to introduce all the characters and different story plots. once it got into the meat of the book and the ending it turned out to be very interesting and a great read just as the first one was.
    Excellent Sequel.
The sequel to the Unincorporated Man picks up pretty much where the first book left off. Justin Cord, now the President of the Outer Alliance is leading in a time of war with what used to be called the Terran Confederation. Hector Sambianco has now decided as President that the real name should be United Human Federation...it has a better spin to his ear.
Battles are raging across Sol system with fleets of OA ships and UHF ships smashing each other to bits over the issue of owning a piece of each other. Or is that the reason? Meanwhile, the electronic entities in hiding have emulated their human progenitors and are waging a similar war in the virtual world. As it turns out...their weapons are way nastier.
I thoroughly enjoyed this follow up and someday I will have a chance to experience more books in this series.

    Great Premise/Mediocre Delivery
Would you try another book from Jeremy Robinson and/or Jeremy Robinson and Jeff Kafer ?
    Possibly.
Would you recommend Kronos to your friends? Why or why not?
Not really. The problems I have with the books lie within the fact several scenes and situations simply aren't plausible, yet am fully aware the book is about (sort of...it almost takes second place) a fictional sea monster.
1)Scene where his daughter is almost gang-raped: How and why exactly is her father nearby? How did that "happen" to be? Secondly, If that had happened to me (I am a woman and a medical professional) I'd be scared out of my mind, and if there was significant bruising immediately upon my neck where I'd been grabbed, that my father as a Navy seal, would have the intelligence to bring me to the ER so I could be scanned/and or treated to determine if there was any internal problems with per se my trachea or neck.
I also feel that scene was glossed-over. It's a traumatic experience, and within hours, this young woman with bruising on her neck is DIVING? Should she be diving/snorkeling after neck trauma? Who'd feel like diving after a potential gang-rape?
2)Andrea the Coast Guard/ex girlfriend: I find numerous problems with this character's creation/execution. First of all, she enters out of the blue her ex boyfriend's house.

Who is going to take Hawks place on Coyote? What else is happening on Coyote? Come on Allen write a few more books and make some more money while your at it.
    A bridge to far
I have always been a fan of the Coyote series but this Book may be a bridge to far. I found this outing somewhat stilted and lacking the energy of the previous novels. I also felt that this story lacked any real credibility with endless wrap-ups needed to explain weak plot lines. Still looking forward to Steele's next project, as there is no doubt that he is a real talent.
    Not worth the effort
I really enjoyed the first couple books in this series. But this one has gonet far afield. Hey Steele, the series is about colonizing a new planet, remember? This book should have been a couple chapters in the last book, though it wouldn't have helped that one either. It came across as another infantile rant against organized religion. But his solution is so silly that it makes the whole effort worthless. The characters have all merged into two radical camps - the enlightened and the brainwashed. It's been done to death and this treatment adds nothing.
    How to start a religion
What was one of the most memorable moments of Coyote Destiny?
The comparisons to the story of Jesus - carpenter, group of disciples at a small fishing village, martyrdom
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
    Enjoyed every moment of it.
You keep waiting for excitement, alas.
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
Any author has to invest a good deal of his story to character building. Unfortunately, most of this story is given to the characters talking, doing little else, then traveling, to do more talking. What few actual events take place are very short. Conflict is almost resolved before it begins.
What was most disappointing about Allen Steeles story?
Wasting that much time to find a man that was already repentant. I found myself asking why didn't he just turn himself in instead of making me listen to all that.
What does Peter Ganim and Allen Steele bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?
You do get the feeling of age, of weariness, of one last task before some of the characters lay their burdens down.
What character would you cut from Coyote Destiny?
I would have left most the elder generation out of the story all together. I only read the last book in the series but my will I not get another.

    Publisher's Summary:
The colony world Adirondack and Silvern fell to the Troft forces almost without a struggle. Outnumbered and on the defensive, Earth made a desperate decision. It would attack the aliens not from space, but on the ground - with forces the Trofts did not even suspect. Thus were created the cobras, a guerrilla force whose weapons were surgically implanted, invisible to the unsuspecting eye, yet undeniably deadly.
But power brings temptation...and not all the Cobras could be trusted to fight for Earth alone. Only Moreau would learn the uses - and abuses - of his special abilities, and what it truly meant to be a Cobra.

    Much Better
Very nice book! Kept me listening! Very good story along with great narration, makes a good book.
    Excellent Book
As with book 1, book 2 is a very pleasant surprize. The story is strong and so is the delivery. I believe that the word 'Cobra' in the title tends to convey that the book's content may be somewhat puerile; but if you're thinking this is GI-Joe Cobra, think again.
