Q: Talking about your mix: why did you choose these tracks? What did they mean to you in the past?

A: The selection of the mix was very hard. When I was searching the tracks for the mix I've found very much tracks of good old music. So one fact that i've chosen these tracks was that they play a big role in my musicial development. All the artists and tracks accompanied and touched my way of life for that time.

Q: Besides your own productions, Djing and touring you´re running the eminently respectable label Definition:Music. A fulltime job?

A: Well, unfortunately it´s not my normal job, but it takes a big amount of my freetime. But indeed, it is a fulltime job.

Q: As artist you´ve already seen some nice parts of the planet. What was your highlight the past few years?

A: I've seen a lot of different countries and locals. there are no highlights, because all around the world the people are the same. A highlight is when you can feel the passion, the love, their desire. So my highlights are when I meet people who love what they do, country independent.

Q: You celebrate 10 years Boss Axis in 2018. So this mix also is a flashback to your early days. Which impact did these tracks have on your later career?

A: It is defenitly a flashback to the time, when we were listening intensively to electronic music which we heard mostly in the HR3 Clubnight and DJs like Ulli Brenner, DJ Dag, Marc Spoon, Talla 2xlc and so on. One can say, the sound of that time influenced us a lot in our later productions. As you know the melody ist he key thing in our sound, we focus on that to transport emotions feelings and to capture experiences. Nearly every track from then takes us back in time. But there were so much more tracks that influenced us in our productions.

Q: I´ve heard there is a new live-set coming? Sounds exciting! Please tell us more about.

A: We have planned a so called hybrid-set (Live and DJ), combining some of our classics out of the last 10 years, partly in reworked versions, including parts played live with hardware for a better live impression.

Q: There are some new releases scheduled. What can we expect?

A: Besides remixes for „Riesen ft. Haptic“ on Dear Deer Records and „Th;En & Starkato“ on „Euphonic“, a new EP on Moonbootique is planned and we are working on a single regarding our anniversary. It should represent us and our musical legislating of the last ten years. For that some remixers will be on board. Release is to be released on our homebase, Parquet Recordings.

3 QUESTIONS to STEVE PARRY:

Q: You are promoter, running the great SMP3 DJ promo pool, music selector for famous artists, running an amazing label besides being a great DJ and producer. Did I forget something? Tell us about your daily life.

A: Yes I am doing a lot of things at once, but always have been really. Life is crazy at the moment, in a good way. I do a radio show too, and a few other things I have up my sleeve. I work all day with music - it's a dream job - swapping in-between sorting music for DJs, sending promo’s for labels, some studio bits and running the label. Being a dad to our two kids is the other time consuming but lovely thing in my life, alongside my wife Melanie. And then DJ-ing at tea weekend. I’m not playing every weekend - but I like that! Try and fit a bit of ‘normality’ in occasionally.

Q: You´re running the imprint „Selador“ together with legend Dave Seaman. What´s the masterplan for next year – including celebrating the 5th birthday?

A: We will be five years old in April - time has flown by really - and I think we have grown nicely, and I love running the label alongside Dave, everything is 50/50, so we chat daily about stuff. We are planning something a bit different and getting our favourite label artists to make a collaboration with other Selador artists - for example Dave and I have just finished a track together (the first thing we have ever made together, even though we’ve been mates since 1991!). Some other exciting stuff and collaborations, but i wont say too much yet!

Q: Which future Steve Parry projects are on the way?

A: My new track "303 V" is due out in December - it's great to see John Digweed (my favourite DJ) playing it at every gig - makes me smile! I’ve just finished a new track called ‘Squidfist’ (which is named after a beer that my friend brews and you can only buy in my local bar!) Theres the collaboration with Dave coming early next year. Also I’m remixing Chris Fortiers new thing as Conecte (I've known Chris since mid 90’s so its nice to remix for him) and a few more bits that I have to do too! Gigwise 2018 is shaping up nicely - some very cool gig pencilled in!

No, I won´t ask me things. But please feel free to ask whatever you wanna know in the comment box!

Maybe just some words about this mix: The idea to make a random-radio intro started a long time idea ago. It´s not that easy to show all your classics within one hour mix so thats a nice option to tease some more of them. I started with Westbam as he had a big influence on my first steps to make music on a PC. I remember how I started to make beats and melodys like he did in the 1990s. I was a Trancer in the early 2000s so my influences are full of pads, harmonys and warm synths. The kick off to the music I do today was with Dave Shokh around 2003. And if you heard me playing the past years you will recognize some of the track here in my DJ-sets. I still love to play those classics loud. Enjoy my selection!

Q: Diynamic, Sincopat, Upon.You. Just to name a few of the recent labels you´re releasing on. The sky seems to be the limit? What´s next? Any more producer goals to reach?

A: Maybe the sky is the limit, it's nice to dream but you need to have your personal goals, and currently I like when they are big. I have prepared a few EPs and remixes for 2018 which will be out on Kompakt, Monaberry and Watergate among others. I always have goals in my mind and I’m working hard to reach them!

Q: Talking about your epic mix. How did these tracks find the way to your case?

A: The mix is a short tour of my life, most of it is like the BSO, some others are with me since the day I was born, I think they are like part of my DNA (laughing)

Q: What´s your favorite setup for producing?

A: Well, since a lot of years I'm working with Logic Pro, I like this program because I feel that I'm not attached to a strict rhythm like other programs I have tried. Most of the percussions are recorded with a small Tascam, and the more important pieces are my old synths without MIDI, they are the mainstay of my studio!
