Q: Tell us about your mix – how did these early tracks influence your later doings?

A: Well firstly it was a great honour to be asked to do a How I Met The Bass mix, I´m a big fan of the sessions and tune in a lot myself. For my mix I really wanted to give a timeline of literally how I discovered music and how my tastes changed into what they are today. I start off with some real groovy disco, into my early 20’s with the French House and tougher side of things, then in the latter stages the Techno & Progressive sounds that im known for today. The mix is a real mash up of sounds but it showcases my tastes through the years for sure.

Q: You remixed „Cafe Del Mar“ which became a huge feedback last year. How did it come that it has been released as official remix?

A: Yeah I was asked by the guys at 200 Records if I would do an official remix of the track, I was a bit apprehenous at first as the original is a total classic. But I was up for the challenge and wanted to bring my own more chilled melodic vibe for the current day, so I´m happy it worked out. Seeing it played as much as it was has been amazing for me!

Q: Which Middleton releases are coming soon?

A: Last month I released an EP on Flow named Nans which has been doing the rounds. currently im actually taking a little time out from deadlines and tracks and focusing on improving my studio talents, which I feel is important as an artist to take some time to push yourself from time to time.

Q: How did you meet the bass, Mauro? Tell us about your selection.

A: It wasn´t easy to put my past 25 years into a 60 minutes mix. But at least it´s a deep journey back to my early doings. It´s exactly these tracks when you realize how many memories you still have in your mind by listening to those classics. It was a really nice experience for me!

Q: You´re analog live sessions recently became a lot of attention. What´s your favorite setup in the studio?

A: That´s a really good question but thanks first. I love to work with analogue machines because I can react more sponaneously and I´m more free in mind what to do next. But I also love producing on the PC. This is where you can invest more time by doing the finishing.

Q: Besides your own productions you´re running the smart label AUDITIVE. Tell us what´s coming up next!

A: Yes indeed. By starting the label in 2011 we made something good with it. It´s nice to see how things developed during the past years and I´m pleased to work with amazing artists such as Krink, Jonas Saalbach, Pazul, Marcus Sur and many more. There are a lot of releases in the pipeline actually. I don´t want to tell too much about but you should better be prepared.

Q: True classics inside your mix. Why did you choose these tracks?


A: Yes, absolutely! A lot of classics. It was a difficult task to find the right tracks, but I think I have managed to integrate my musical checkpoints in the mix. I have chosen these tracks because they shaped me musically. You get a glimpse of my breakdancing time and my first electronic experiences. And the last one is a special tune from my liveset, it’s a re-vison of Patrice Baumel’s „Departure“.

Q: You ́re a fulltime music maker. Tell us about all your projects you ́re currently workin on!

A: Over the years I have mutated into a real workaholic. Very rarely is it quiet in the studio (laughing). At the moment I am working on my third studio album. It will be released in May 2018. Further informations are available on my Facebook fan page. Otherwise I do a lot of mixdown and mastering for other artists and labels. That makes me a lot of fun! At the beginning of 2018 I will produce my first "Artist Sample Library" for Loopmasters! This request makes me very proud and it is an honor to be on this platform alongside Carl Cox and many other great artists.

Q: Do you have any Hobby’s outside of music?

A: Yes you should absolutely still have other hobbies to equalize! Over the years, I have a passion for photography and graphics. Meanwhile I am doing the artworks of Moonbootica's label Moonbootique Records. It makes me happy to be able to visualize music. Another hobbies are cooking and making friends to cut the hair. I always love being creative. For me, it is important to create something new and make others happy with my activities. What about you? Are you hungry or need a new look? (laughing)

3 QUESTIONS to SOLVANE:

Q: Talking about your mix: how did you meet the bass with your selection?

A: I was playing in bands my whole youth and was not at all into electronic music in my teenager years. In my early twenties I started with Daft Punk and slipped pretty fast into Electro, as this was way closer to where I was coming from: Rock and Punk-Rock. I decided to make a very honest podcast. Not with Ableton Live but recording it like I did it 10 years ago. I was checking my dusty vinyl collection and my old MP3s and made the DJ-mix without a setlist. Recorded it with a first take and didn't do any reworks. I've selected a lot of big classics from my past but played them in a way more comfortable bpm than 10 years ago. It felt good to me and I hope you guys like it just like I do.

Q: You´ve been to Japan for a tour a few days ago. Tell us about!

A: What a crazy country. It's even way more crazy than I expected. I've already played in a lot of Asian countries like Malaysia or Thailand but Japan was completely new to me. I've had the honour to play in 5 different cities 5 nights in a row and it was very intense. Very few sleep but lots of traveling and alcohol. I was really happy to share most of the days with lovely acts like Bebetta or Seth Schwarz! You can find a tour-video on my facebook page end of November.

Q: You recently released on Stil vor Talent. Which further projects are coming up next?

A: I was on the road a lot the last weeks so I am pretty happy to finally find some time to work on a follow-up release for Stil Vor Talent with my buddy Prismode. We've already finished a bunch of tracks and I hope Oli will like them as much as we do. So, there will be a new EP pretty soon.

Q: Talking about your mix. How did these early tracks have an impact on your later doings?

A: Basically I always mix it up in my sets. I don’t like to slowly build it up honestly. Sometimes I like to start harder, sometimes a bit softer, it always depends on my personal mood basically :)

Q: You´re an early pioneer of Germanys Techno music. But how did Techno change your life?

A: Techno had an impact in my life, since I was 17 years old. Since then Techno always was a main part of my life!

Q: Which Felix Kroecher projects are coming soon?

A: lot of new music is coming up! Currently I am working on projects with Citizen Kain, Reinier Zonneveld & Lopezhouse. Can’t wait to share all those new tracks.
