Which company does Steve D own in the frog-boiling business? Find out in this week’s episode!
We open the show with a big reveal from Steve W! He’s found out whether he’s having a boy or a girl (he had a strong feeling it was going to be one of them). Look out of the big reveal--nobody told Paul, though.
After that, it’s onto Steve D’s game. Steve’s been looking for some giant companies that people haven’t heard of. Paul and Steve W take turns at guessing which has the bigger market cap out of some of the less-well known large cap operations. How big is Atlassian? What is ICBC? And who is China’s biggest beer brewing company? Paul and Steve W swing wildly at these questions as Steve D keeps score.
Next, it’s earnings time. Steve D kicks us off with Pinterest. Average users are down, but average revenue per user is up. Where’s the company going next? Steve offers his view. Along the way, we also talk about Meta’s earnings. There’s been a similar theme there and Steve W’s been buying this company. Lots to like about this company, in our view, and we’re planning on keeping a close eye on it.
Following on, it’s Disney. The day after Disney’s earnings, the share price jumped before settling back down a bit. Record revenues at the the theme parks in Q4 and strong growth in Disney+ subscribers pushed the company along strongly. Is it a buy now? Find out why Steve W’s unsure and what Paul’s thinking about the reopening trade. Also, keep your ears open for Steve D’s views on the airline space.
We finish up with a blaze through some quicker earnings. Steve W talks about Compass Minerals—the salt mining company that’s down after its earnings. Steve D’s had a busier week and catches us up on Doximity, which has had a strong quarter providing social networking services for medical professionals.
