Sciatica is not really a condition in its own right, it’s a symptom of a further problem. So in order to treat that problem, we need to figure out what’s causing it. The sciatic nerve root originates around L5-S1 in the spine, so we need to look at what’s compressing at that section.
If you bend forwards when putting on your socks in the morning, you compress onto the front of the disc which makes it bulge out of the back and compress the nerve. If you’re in a flexed position, where you’re leaning slightly forward, this is going to cause the holes at the back of the disc to become larger and relieve some of that pressure.
