    Absorbing
A unique, immersive and utterly compelling portrait of battle and survival. Emotionally charged, gripping and human.
    Amazing
Such a moving book. The way it's written as objects around BA5799 is cleverly done.
    Incredible narration
Using inanimate objects to describe events, thoughts and emotions makes the narration even more poignant. Inspiring, eye opening, insightful, refreshing, incredible.
said, said, said said god but I'm so bored I could just yawn
I suppose it's all right if you like your stories told in a series of objects but frankly I made it to chapter 5 and got bored. Said, said, said all the way through virtually and though there is some tension it really is so tedious it nearly sent me to sleep. i was hoping for something better. At least the naration isn't too bad. What more can i say? not much really.

    Couldn't put it down
Perilous Judgement is a book filled with Justice, Love, Passion, and Emotion, I felt as though I was watching a captivating movie on the Big Screen. I didn't want it to end. I always put myself into whatever I read or watch and I found myself in this book in many of the characters. It's an Exciting and Heartwarming read!
    Excellent (Christian?) suspense thriller!
I'm not going to down rate this excellent suspense thriller for what appears to me to be near constant references to the the grace of God and the strength of the author's Christian religious faith. For those familiar with author Joel C Rosenberg, it is him times 10. I would have preferred the publisher's summary be upfront about the overwhelming religious aspect of this novel, and I would have purchased and listened to it even if forewarned.
Perilous Judgement is an outstanding first novel by Dennis Ricci. The narration is even better than the contents of the novel.
Come on folks say it this is Christian fiction
    Any additional comments?
I dont have anything against Christianity, in fact I like God, but I do think it is ridiculous for reviewers not to acknowledge this Christian fiction. The main characters refer to their faith and trust in God as the motivation for their choices and actions, however they do this without being preachy or constantly Bible-quoting. The story is good, particularly nuanced in the areas about illegal immigrants rights, and the narration is excellent. There is no gratuitous right-wing demonizations as in all those Left Behind type books. One of the most interesting aspects to me is that so many of the major characters are Latino, not just to push the story but others as well. I particularly enjoyed the references to the history of Irish Mexicans since I had never heard of this group before. Sorry to disagree, this will not be a NY Times bestseller but it is a good listen.

The narrator (iiKane) was horrible. She kept messing up, and repeating. Not good at all
E Kane has the perfect voice for Kwan's books

    More midnight fun
............the series continues with some new characters, and some "powering-up" of existing ones. Same light tone, narration and nonsense.
If you've enjoyed the first two books in the series, then this is more of the same. Hardly ground-breaking stuff (no pun intended - no spoiler given), but it's a light-hearted series to escape to.
    enjoyable start of a series
Was nice to bump into so many old faces from previous books / series. good start and enough to make me.download the next in the series. enjoyed as a light hearted read
    Really good book
Good book but it did take a while to get to the end of the story. other than that exciting story
Midnight is turning out to be just as entertaining as Skokie Stackhouse
I have now read all three of these books and I can say I'm coming to love these characters just as the Skokie novels. Write another one soon please. Also, the new tv show is well done and for the readers it's worth watching as this show seems to be nearer to the books and so far is not pornographic like trublood. Back to the books likeable characters and interesting plots.
    alright...nothing special
It was alright. didn't love it. didn't hate it. wouldn't listen again. preferred the last books

He meets Nnkos Zia or Nn, a woman born in South Africa and a former victim of Muti-medicine - a type of medicine still practiced in South Africa that weaves the occult and human sacrifices into the locals belief system. She is also a victim of human trafficking, from which she barely escaped after taking revenge on her captors.

Overall,Baroota is a pretty fun journey
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Overall, I enjoyed the book. It was paced well. Unlike many books, their was never a time when I felt like I had to slog through meaningless/boring filler. The author did a nice job explaining the main character as you go through the story. I would recommend it to most friends. If they had a strong aversion to violence and some "gutter talk", I would not advise it.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Baroota?
The way Nick handled high stress encounters were all pretty memorable occasions. I thought Fortier did a good job making Nick an interesting character
    Which scene was your favorite?
Nick's surprise meeting with the military boys was one of several good scenes.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
When Non recounts her life as a youth
    Any additional comments?
A few spots the book wasn't quite as "tight" as I would have preferred. I believe if the book would have been a little bit longer that it would have been able to flow a bit smoother at a couple of areas. However, it was an overall entertaining audio book.
I received this audio book at no charge in exchange for a free review.
Awesome 1st book in a mind blowing series
Starts off with a great premise. Off the books black ops team to go after sex traffickers...from there the plot twists in a crazy direction that couldn't be predicted. At that point you take a rollercoaster ride of action that will leave you on the edge of your seat. Listened
Optimal at 1.25. I received this audiobook from the author narrator or publisher for free via audiobookblast in exchange for an unbiased review
    Great Story.
The narrator's voice was clear and the audio had no glitches. Very enjoyable listen. I would recommend this audio because the story had great action.
    Hunter And Hunted
If you could sum up Baroota in three words, what would they be?
    Non stop action
Which character as performed by Miles Taylor was your favorite?
Miles Taylor did a really good job with the narration. Different voices, accents, emotions, clear pronunciation and a smooth even pace
    Any additional comments?
I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher.
An action-packed tale of second chance glory
Our hero is Nick, a smart-mouthed cocky former cop and ex-marine who is retired, but itching to get back into some kind of action. I wish we had gotten a little more back story on Nick.

Was this recorded in a public library?
I made it through this audiobook through sheer force of will. The narrator whispers his way through the entire book as if he's recording in a public library or trying not to wake the baby. VERY irritating and distracting! I hoped the storyline would progress to the point where I would no longer be bothered by the vocal delivery, but it never even came close.

    Publisher's Summary:
Number-one international best seller and Swedish crime sensation Camilla Lackberg's new psychological thriller featuring Detective Patrik Hedström and Erica Falck - irresistible for fans of Stieg Larsson and Jo Nesbo.
January, Fjällbacka. A seminaked girl wanders through the woods in freezing cold weather. When she finally reaches the road, a car comes out of nowhere. It doesn't manage to stop. By the time Detective Patrik Hedström receives word of the accident, the girl has already been identified. Four months ago she disappeared on her way home from the local riding school, and no one has seen her since. It quickly becomes clear that she has been subjected to unimaginably brutal treatment. And it's likely she's not the only one.
Meanwhile, Patrik's wife, crime writer Erica Falck, is looking into an old case - a family tragedy that led to a man's death. His wife was convicted of murder, but Erica senses that something isn't right. What is the woman hiding? As Erica digs deeper, the past starts to cast a shadow over the present, and Patrik is forced to see his investigation in a whole new light.

    Members Reviews:
    Pause between chapters
It'd be great if there was a short pause between the chapters, that would defintely make for an easier understanding.
Audiobook is disappointing - rush job?
I love Camilla Lackberg books but the audio version of the latest is a bit frustrating.
Firstly the narrator gets the authors name wrong ('Camilla Lackberry', more than once), he messed up pronouns of characters, and says a few words incorrectly.
Also the editing is clearly a rush job & there are hardly any pauses when scenes change so it's confusing.
Lastly I don't know if it is the translation or if Camilla Lackberg is not up to par for this book, but the writing, phrases used & descriptions seem a bit lazy (the same sentence used within pages of each other).
The story itself is enjoyable but these annoying issues have really spoiled this for me.
    Questionable translation
    Any additional comments?
I agree with the review from LMV. I have listened to all the previous books in the series and enjoyed them. For this one the translation is weak and with Robin Bowerman's mellifluous tone it made the whole experience like listening to an Enid Blyton Famous Five book. The editing too was clearly rushed with hardly a breath taken by Robin Bowerman between scenes so that you lose track of where and when you are in the story. However, the storyline was intriguing if a little far fetched at the end.
    I could not stop listening!!!
Loved it. Although the jumping around got a bit confusing due to the lack of pauses or breaks between chapters/scenes.

Surprising twists that keep you guessing
This second in the Cold Hollow Mystery series continues the story of an experimental town where most of the residents are paroles. It can be read as a stand alone story but you will get more from this multilayered tale if you read Cold Hollow first. In this story, the arrival of new parolees coincides with the disappearance of local women, who are then found dead and wrapped in silk like a spider's cocooned prey. The story moves along at a good pace and the narration in the audiobook fits the characters well, giving each individual an easily recognizable voice and distinct personality. The plot is excellent and has some great unexpected twists thrown in. I love the characters in this series, they are well developed, interesting, quirky and full of surprises, even the "good" people can be unpredictable and creepy. This is a captivating "who done it" that will keep you guessing right up to the very end. I received the audiobook in exchange for my honest opinion.
    Silk cocoon
This town is full of psycho people I would be afraid to sleep or turn my back on anyone including the good doctor and the mayor. Little Liam hopefully grows up to be normal. I highly recommend this book. Hope there is a third coming soon.
I thoroughly enjoyed the second book in this series
I am not surprised as I listened to the first book in one session and I turned around and did the same with this one. I look forward to more Cold Hollow books as they are well worth the time and credit!
    Weaving the Web
In Cold Hollow Vermont things seem tranquil. It is all a lie.An experimental prison for people on probation, there are strange laws,no way to reach the outside world and many deaths.A family dies and the young survivor is adopted by friends.Life goes on,people solve slights with violence, new parolies show up.With a new mayor things get better for awhile, then the gruesome remains of a woman shows up in the lake...with more to follow.I'm on book 3.Trying to keep them separate is a challenge.J Scott Bennet is a great narrator!
I was given this book free for an honest review.
    Major twists and cliffhanger!
The 2nd installment of the cold hollow series will bring back your favorite characters and introduce a few more new ones to love and hate. When you think you have it figured out, you are wrong. When you make your next I know who it is, you're wrong. The last few minutes will have a reveal that will shock you and leave you dying to dive into the 3rd book to find out just what happens next! The author and narrator are an amazing team that deliver a consistently stunning story.
