I was hoping for a nice leasurely easy book to read to unwind with

I was hoping for a nice leasurely easy book to read to unwind with. What could have been a fairly good story turned into a horribly offensive and degrading, explicit display of words and actions that I could no longer tolerate. I had to skip over many pages just to try to find the very end to wind up the story. It was immediately deleted from my kindle. I hate it when books turn out to be sleezy and distasteful. I would not recommend this book to be read by anyone.

Funny, I started this series by reading the 9th (an currently last) book in the series. I'm glad that I did, because I then knew that I need to read the whole series. So, I did. I loved it all and I'm hoping for more. This book is the beginning of a wild literary ride through a town filled with a plethora of characters that are funny, caring, heroic, deep/dark, loving, whimsical, loving, and entertaining. Hope Ramsay weaves a tale like no other. I was enthralled from beginning. You'll love it!

Welcome to Last Chance

Southern small town stand alone series. Romance of Jane and Clay, very likable couple who are trying to find their way in life. A bit of mystery thrown in to a fun, fast-paced story. Believable characters, dialogue and story line.

She told herself that where there was Budweiser and neon there was hope of finding some dinner.

Awareness jolted him to full arousal. He felt like a sixteen-year-old with a killer hard-on, the kind that blinded a boy and made him do stupid things. He had to admit he liked that mindless feeling.

I will re-read this book and always look forward to more from this author.

Very disappointing

Funny and quirky novella

The Premise

Evie James, clueless app developer, decides to beta test her app for flirting and seducing guys at a bar, which leads her straight to Caleb Anderson.

Caleb seems to be the typical cynical playboy, but finds himself attracted to Evie because of her unique brand of awkward. A master of one-night stands, he's more than happy to show her what she's been missing in the bedroom. But he quickly discovers that one night with a woman like Evie will never be enough for himâ

The Good

I was hooked from the sample - Ms. Yates is a very funny writer, and awkwardness is hard to write in a balanced manner. Itâs very easy to go too far, and then you find yourself in a bad sitcom. Here, Evie is funny, self-aware and ultimately the strong one who doesnât back down from her feelings, which I appreciated. Caleb and Evie sparked right off the bat, and I enjoyed the dialogue throughout the story. Dialogue can be tricky, but Ms. Yates has a clear, strong voice and I found myself laughing out loud, more than once.

The Not so Good

The length of the book disappointed me. Considering some of the subject matter, which includes the reason why Caleb has a hard time committing, could have and probably should have been dealt with in a full length novel. As a consequence, while I thought there was good chemistry between Evie and Caleb, I was just a bit shy of actually believing in their love. I believed they liked each other and were definitely in lust, but love? Maybe, maybe not.

Also, the cost - I thought it was a bit overpriced for the length.

The Bottom Line

Surprisingly funny and sweet, quirky little novella. So hard to do a novella right, and this was very close, though I still think the emotions were still a bit less than believable, when compared to the great sex. Very good chemistry between the MCs and overall an enjoyable read. I see that Ms. Yates has a freebie on amazon, so Iâm going to check that out and see if she can keep the streak alive.

Fun!

This one was sexy, funny, charming, cute, and hot all at the same time. The heroine is a complex mix of badass boss lady, genius, nerdy, take no crap, and vulnerable. The hero is a person who is stuck in a place where he tries to stay surface and embody some playboy script he read somewhere but despite that is sweet and hurting. He is really as socially awkward as the heroine when it comes to really life. Loved it.

It would have likely been a five star if the romance had been longer if we got to see them really be together for 5 or 6 chapters of after the falling in love romance.

This one will touch your heart - loved it

Iâve been a huge fan of anything Marietta, Montana related. I discovered this lovely and lively small town a few years ago and I simply cannot get enough of the romances that happen here. Admittedly, I came into this fictional town sort of mid-stream, and Iâm slowly going back to the earlier series that I havenât read or completed as of yet. Which brings us to The 75th Copper Mountain Rodeo series, and Tempt Me, Cowboy.

I cannot tell you the last time I wanted to actually gush about a book, especially in a book review. Yet Iâm sorely tempted right nowâ but Iâll restrain myself as much as I can. The one bit of waxing poetic that Iâm going to allow myself is this: Chelsea and Jasperâs romance reminded me of a rose bud, not yet in bloom but slowly over time unfolding into a beautiful, stunning rose. Watching Chelsea discover her true self, and seeing Jasper come to realize just what heâs found in this small town was priceless. And this is a story that is going to stay with me for a long time.

Jasper has more money than a man could possibly spend in a lifetime. What heâs looking for can be found in this small town, starting a brewery and simply enjoying a slower paced life. He wasnât looking to be struck with a lightening bolt, but then who ever is. Chelsea is a small town history teacher, a woman who has had her familyâs history as one of the founding families of Marietta pounded into her head her entire life. Her mother lives by and through that ancestral connection and has tried, in many ways, to form Chelsea after herself. Itâs partially worked for Chelsea dresses the part and acts the part of a woman ten years or more older than she actually is. When she must confront the new owner of the railroad depot she has no idea of how freeing this man will make her feel, how much her life is about to change or the possibility that a happy forever more is in sight.

I completely enjoyed Tempt Me, Cowboy. It was a unique reading experience, in that I think I smiled throughout most of this book. And even at the few rough patches, I didnât lose hope for one second. If youâre looking for a story that will touch your heart â try this one on for size. I think youâll find itâs a perfect fit.

I think I am the only one of the reviewers that didn't like it

I really missed this one big time. I think I am the only one that just didn't connect with these characters. The hero it seems is going to be okay. He seems to be just what he is projecting. The heroine came across to me as a prim and proper stuck up 55 year old. Bossed around and controlled by her mother she doesn't seem to have a thought of her own. She is a school teacher so I think it is safe to say she finished 4 years of college.

I honestly adored it, after about 4 chapters I was hooked! I even stayed up till 3am listening when I had to be at work at 7am...lol I could not put this one down....Its a great little love story about 2 young people who are survivors of tragedies and learn to love not only there selves again....but to love each other!! There is a tad bit of sexy going on and a lot of romance....wrap it up with a great HEA and you have a winner!! 2 thumbs up!!! I would totally listen to this again...and am going to check out this author and narrators other work!!! LOVED IT SOOOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH!!!!!!!!! LOL

Scandalously Delightful

Warning: Strong Adult Content. This is not one for the car rides with kids. Davies and Bristol have both suffered severe trauma and are on a therapy trip of sorts for survivors on the tropical island of St. Lucia. Davis, and all the characters for that matter are fond of swearing. He is a moody bum that is wallowing in depression. His words. Bristol is a skinny, sassy mouth, sports nut that Davies nicknames Trouble. She has painful memories and guilt laden mornings. They have quite a nice rhythm going on between them and I love their witty interludes. They found solace in each other and both offered the other the help and support to become fully alive and overcome their fears and guilt to move on from the tragedies they both survived. The rest follows the cookie cutter pattern where the go their separate ways, some drama and they live happily ever.

This book has the greatest poetry at the start of each chapter that are a perfect synopsis of what is going to happen. Sometimes I find these cheesy but they were nicely done in this love story. The storytelling alternates between Bristol and Davies.

Amazing Story!

What an awesome story! This is an absolutely NEW storyline...

I'm awed by the insight and character depth. This was a sweet, heartwarming story. It was also heartrending without the ridiculous angst and constant self doubt from the characters. My only complaint was that it wasn't longer. I can't wait to see what else this lovely author will do.

In the Wilderness, There Was a Hermit.... & a Girl

Where does The Hermit rank among all the audiobooks youve listened to so far?

This book ranked pretty high. I normally won't listen to an audiobook this short, but the description caught my attention and I am so glad it did. It seemed a lot longer.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Hermit?

I think what stands out the most was throughout the book is Ryan knew exactly what Daphne needed. He was so gentle and caring. The story was incredibly heartbreaking at times.

What does Amy Landon bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?

With a good narrator the audiobook is always better. Amy Landon did an excellent job narrating.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes and I did.

Not what I was looking for

I was looking for a steamy hermit book. This one is more about healing & lots of uncomfortable details regarding abuse.

The writing was good. It wasn't a bad book just not what I expected.

Good mature non-easy romance

In this brief story, Daphney, a 29-year-old married (initially) female artist & Ryan, a 42-yr-old intentionally isolated, male, medical doctor accidentally meet in rural Alaska. The story touches upon rape and torture and other violence, but these aspects are not included for drama factor nor are they gratuitous, overdone or harped upon. They are treated as just part of the story.

Like those aspects, when Daphney and Ryan eventually get together its done in a very considerate way that could make sense to a person. It did to me but might not to someone else. And there was nothing graphic or explicit in the sex but a degree of romance and care. I liked that the story seemed adult. Though Daphney was 29, she came across as mature and thoughtful. And the paths that Daphney and Ryan chose for their lives made sense and were not easy. There was a HEA but at a cost. So, overall, the story was good though with low-resonation.

Fast, lighthearted read with mediocre narration.

I liked the few moments that Jack and Noah shared in Noah's teensy office. I did not like the tones and voice McClain chose to use when narrating Jack.

Yes, I love her style of writing.

Jack Lawson may have been struggling to rub two pennies together when he was younger, but he grew into a successful business man. He is actually interviewing for a new ad company when he recognizes an old friend from school, Noah Mercier. There is a spark from the beginning, for Jack at least, hes never been one to limit himself to just one sex when he could have both. Noah however, takes a little more convincing.

When Jack learns that Noahs sister is a sexy up and coming actress, Jack sets his sights on the sister. But he cant stop thinking about Noah and his sexy, shy smile, his awkward streak and his love of volleyballs. The problem is, Noah thinks that Jack is straight and to separate himself from Jack so he doesnt get hurt, he quits his job and stops returning Jacks calls. Can Jack convince Noah he is sincere in wanting a relationship with him, when hes just figured it out for himself?

A fast, light hearted read. I really enjoyed the banter back and forth between Jack and Noah when they were alone in that closet Noah was passing off as an office. The coffees and the vollyballs. The problem I had was aside from that brief period in the storyline, I never felt a real connection between them. The narration didnt tie me to the characters either, in fact, the tones and voice McClain chose to use for Jack made him sound pompous and insincere. Sadly, this was just an okay audio for me. I had high hopes because I love Sherwoods style of writing, but this story just fell a little flat, for me anyway.

Fun stuff

Jack is now a millionaire running a chemical company when he meets Noah, an acquaintance from the past. At first, Jack (comfortably bi-sexual) is attracted to Noah and figures hed like a quick affair with the man, but after speaking to him he learns that Noah has a famous sister and its her coat-tails hed like to ride. A final bit of proof that hes made it and is not the poor loser he was in high school.

Noah and Jack end up spending a lot of time together working on an ad campaign for Jacks company.

Annie Seaton's Dangerous Desire is a great mix of suspense, excitement and barely contained lust.

Gracie, a small country town kindergarten teacher makes her way to the QLD coastline to search for her missing sister when she stumbles upon Jake, ex-cop who now does surveillance for an insurance company. The two make bit of a cliche coupling, the sweet, naive and innocent Gracie and hardened, rough, and wounded Jake.

The story unfolded at a slow and methodical pace, which was good because it allowed the reader to get to know Gracie and Jake outside of their stereotypical roles. The realistic elements of their 'relationship' added further dimension to them as characters and even though the constant bickering got a little annoying, I could believe it between the two of them.

The sexy stuff was more sweet than explicit, so it would suit most romance readers without ruffling feathers.

The criminal element to this story was well thought out and rather intricately written. I liked the gradual exploration and the peaks and troughs of the excitement. It felt realistic.

My main complaint would be about the ending, it felt rushed and while I didn't 'hate' it, I felt that it was too perfect. I would have liked it to be a little less polished and more explaination around the ending - before the epilogue.

Pick up Dangerous Desire now if you'd like a nice Aussie romance.

A very good series

While I really enjoyed this series and became invested in the characters, this last book had some problems for me. The climax was just too unbelievable. The crazy sister and the ridiculous cover-up by the controlling mom. As a medical professional I know that cascade of events involving the hospital could never happen. I understand this was fiction. But there has to be a glimmer of possibility. And I didn't like the end where a family bought the home agreeing to keep the baby's shrine in tact. They should have taken it with them. The narration was good, a bit over dramatic at times.

I'd have given this series a far better review before the last half of this book.

good read but could be more developed

Good read but it got a little annoying waiting for everything to be revealed and resolved. Over halfway through the book until you finally know the reason why Olivia hasn't told Cole the whole truth. Loved the narration and the POV layout.

Would you consider the audio edition of The Trouble with Playing Cupid to be better than the print version?

The reader read the book rather than preformed it. i would choose to read the book over this audio version.

I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series rather than listening to the audio version, unless there is a different reader.
