Publisher's Summary:
Mary Wingfield is completely torn. She had believed that she had lost her childhood sweetheart to the insurgence in India. After being introduced to him by her father, she was only just warming up to the idea of marrying General Hodd instead. But her reluctance to marry soon pays off when Lewis returns to her. He is not well, but is still alive, and she still adores him. She would rather marry him than General Hodd. Nobody but her, however, knows that Lewis is still alive yet.
When her sister's infant son falls seriously ill, the family begins to fall into despair. Mary is not sure whether she can have either of her suitors. Lewis is her first love, but he is penniless, undead and unknown to anyone but her. General Hodd, despite his wealth, status, and excellent character, is not the man she loves most.

The Saga Continues
Just as Mary almost has herself talked into marriage to General Hodd, Lewis returns to her in the night. But there something wrong with him. He speaks to her of an attack, a virus that left him unable to stand the sunlight and he needs to drink blood to survive. Lewis tells Mary it all must stay secret.
They meet at night when Lewis comes to her bedroom window. Meanwhile Her sister Susan and her baby have come to stay for a while and the baby, who has been fragile since birth suddenly seems worse and then dies. Susan is mad with grief, so Lewis visits her in the night, as if in a dream and tells Susan that her baby is in Heaven with him. He is safe and well.
Mary takes a chance, goes on a walk with Lewis in the night, but her father catches her upon her return. Her punishment is swift and severe.... locks are put on her bedroom doors and windows. She is not allowed outside the house, and no courting until her father feels she can be trusted.
This is just awful. Mary is unable to see her beloved Lewis? She isn't even able to tell him what happened. Will he think that she's abandoned him and their love? ...... You need to read the next installment to find out. ... that's what I am going to do right now. .... I strongly recommend starting this journey from the beginning in order to understand and get the whole experience.
A Good Read
I received this book as an ARC for an honest review.
Now, this is book 2 and it does explain some of the Q's from book 1 but not many. You still have a young lady in morning for her "dead" soon to be husband. You have a child who she is an aunt to pass away. Then you have the very alive older suitor who her father and mother who is trying to force his daughter to marry.
Lewis does come back, entices the very innocent young lady to explore the night life with him. The story at this time does pick up a tad bit. But it still a tad slow and the father goes over board with his punishment.
While I highly enjoy this authors books this books is a super innocent novel that is perfect for a pre teen or teen for a first exposure to paranormal books.
"So sweet, touching, and exciting!."
The storyline is amazing. The characters are charming.
This story is of two sweet hearts who are fated to be together.
After Mary received the locket and had the dream Lewis had still not showed up. So her father let's her start planning their wedding. Only he has tricked her he really has lined up for her to marry the General.
