Members Reviews:
Could use a tighter plot line.
This was a decent romance novel, but I had a hard time with the plot. There was a lot of "convenient" reasons for the couple to get together and I really didn't see the point of the son side-story. I thought the writing was pretty good and the dialogue was pretty believable, but I would have like to have seen a tighter story line.
I thought Luke Smith did a pretty good job, but I'm not sure if romance is the best genre for his voice and reading style. I would love to hear him read a thriller.

Pre-historic Man, Gold, and a Second Chance
Renegade Man begins with Rita-Lou returning to Silver City, New Mexico and reuniting with Jonah Jones. Rita-Lou is now 20 years wiser and now trying to finish her Doctorate dissertation on the Renegade Man, a prehistoric man that was believed to roam around Silver City area. She has never expected to bumped into Johan Jones, the man she has dumped 20 years ago.
Jonah Jones has left Silver City to join the military. He came back to Silver City to prospect for gold. It was either striking rich or go bust. He has not expected to ever see Rita-Lou after she broke his heart.
When Rita-Lou is threatened by a wealthy rancher, Jonah tried to protect her despite that he wanted to stay away from her and to protect his heart.
Renegade Man is nothing but sexual frustration. Rita-Lou wants Jonah and Jonah wants Rita-Lou but both are too stubborn to act upon their desire for each other. Rita-Lou is looking for Jonah to be there for her and commit to her. Jonah is trying to protect himself from being disappointed when people abandoned him. He has always been alone and know that no one will ever stay with him.
Somewhere down the lines, Rita-Lou will have to fight for Jonah and Jonah will need to learn to trust Rita-Lou that she won't break his heart this time.
The narrator Luke Smith, did very well for Jonah. His voice for Rita-Lou is a little bit masculine for her. Even though Rita-Lou's past is a hellcat, she is more matured and should be reflected a bit more feminine.
I was given this audiobook by the author/narrator via Audiobook Blast in exchange for an honest review. I was not compensated or influenced in any way for writing this review.
A Light, Sweet, Angry Romance!
Narration - Luke Smith - OK
Luke has a lovely voice and as the narrator, he does a terrific job. Some of his characterizations are a little over dramatic for my taste, but his general narration voice is delicious.
The story is a romance with Rita Lou coming back to the town she grew up in, but she's there as an anthropologist looking for an anthropological treasure! Jonah was her childhood sweetheart (sort of) but she had dumped him for another. So of course they clash a bit. And then clash some more. And some more...
Lots of clashing in this book. Johah is pretty angry most of the time and Rita Lou isn't much better. But they both have that insane attraction that keeps drawing them together.
