and the price was right, but what a waste. At first I liked Willa's quirky voice and "fate versus choice determines your life" quandary... but every character in the book swears and I couldn't stand the constant bombardment of foul language, Xanax, pregnancy tests and dysfunctional family drama. Love this book

Vivian Arend is and amazing writer I love the Rocky Mountain series. She brings the characters to life and you feel everything they do and everything they feel.

Awesome series!

I love these Coleman family stories. They portray real life so vividly. It's greay to see families who live and breath integrity even in the fave odd adversity. You'll go from fury to laughter in the range of emotions Vivian beings to life in her stories.

Heart of gold....

Gabe definitely has a heart of gold! If only we could all have a Gabe....I loved this book, it didn't disappoint. Narration was spot on too. There were many memorable moments, but among my favorite was the confrontation between Gabe and his father. This book is absolutely worth listening to, or reading!

Story ok. Narrator great!

I have read/ listened to other books in the same series and just like the others this was a nice, uncomplicated listen with just enough sex to make it interesting. :) Excellent narrator!!

YES. I would recommend the entire series. Of course, some books in the series are better than others and this one is not up there with the previous ones. The books in this series are not stand alone so if you are interested, start with #1 and work your way through. You won't be disappointed. I was not disappointed in this one, but it didn't spark any intense feeling in me. I am glad, as I am sure all those who are Six Pack Ranch fans will agree, that Gabe's story is told and he deserves all the goodness afforded him.

I thought the ending was great; it fit with the rest of the story perfectly.

Which character as performed by Tatiana Sokolov was your favorite?

All of them. It is my opinion that there are very few really talented female narrators; TS is on the top for me. She has the skills it takes to make each individual male's voice different and it goes without saying that her many female voices are great.

I didn't pay attention to the first half, and couldn't take the second. Terrible narration, boring story.

Enjoyable

I selected one of the books the Lakeshore series on a lark from my local library and have gone on to read/listen to the entire Lakeshore Chronicles series. It's and enjoyable series when you are looking for light, easy reading/listening.

Perfect Ending!

I loved the first book Connected, but the cliffhanger ending really annoyed me. Thankfully the conclusion to this 2-part series was absolutely amazing. I couldn't imagine a more perfect ending for this storybook couple.

The love between River and Dahlia is off-the-charts romantic and I enjoyed the journey of these two soul mates through good times and bad. This was a satisfying end to a beautiful, romantic and emotional series. Just perfect!

If you're looking for a great credit-worthy listen then look no further.

I waited for this book to come out, and it was killing me. After reading the first one, I was out of my mind. I just knew that cliffhanger was going to destroy me and a group of others that were following Ms. Karr books. And we are very happy this book was written the way it was.. . But tonight I am proud to say we are Happy and tears were flowing over the love these two have for one another. I got to say this as well. Nothing was boring about this book. She wrote everything that was needed to keep them in the space they were at from book one. It was good to see emotions, fears, and pure anger come out in this, it was needed to make this book what it had to be. Second time I have said this..

SHORT AND SWEET

This short book is part onew of a trilogy - each book no more than two hours. Though there's lots of emphasis on the heroine's insecurities over her weight, there's also hope in finding love. A unique rocker romance, this love story is sweet.

This story made me ANGRY at female lead! UGH!!!!!!

If you want to listen to a book that makes your blood boil then this is the BOOK. I understand that this is book #3 in a series. I will NOT be reading more about "LISS"

I enjoyed Clara Bayard's talent in writing which DID invoke strong feelings with me. BUT, the impulse to reach into the story and strangle the living day lights out of the lead female character (Liss) made me SOOOO frustrated that I wish I could THROW the book across the room. (Which I couldn't, due to it being an audio story & I was driving) Liss had the LOVE of a rising rock star but "HER" insecurities and self loathing made her run from him. (more than onece) BUT the wench would cut him loose.. She keep leading the poor bastard to feel there was a "chance" for them to be together .. If she REALLY loved him & but, needed to work on finding herself.. WHY THE HECK torture the poor guy?? She attracted other men so cut him loose.. I think being a so-called BBW is an excuse and it is cruel to play with anyone's heart when they offer it to you (over & over & over again).. I would appreciate a person that expressed affection to me and would be honest & respectful enough to be honest and leave them alone if I couldn't return the affection.. However, if you like getting fired up from reading an emotion story...This one is for you..

an ok end

Another quick read. In Book 3, we find Liss has left the tour to focus on herself. She realizes she can't be happy in a relationship when she's not happy with herself....so very true. Liss is having nightmares trying to deal with the fact that she left Joe. Then, just as she's figuring herself out, he's back in town. Will she be able to be Liss and Joe's girlfriend? Can she be with a rockstar without losing herself? Can Joe forgive her for walking out on him?

I'm always hoping for a happy ending, but in this case, I was really rooting for Liss to find out who she is and what she wants to be before being with anyone else. Book 3 wasn't my favorite out of the Joe/Liss stories.

Couldn't finish it

I wanted to like this book -I really did. And it started out ok, maybe for the first few chapters or so. But when the heroine of the book throws her vacation plans away to live with a man she just met a few days ago at a conference, my interest started to wane. He's a sheep farmer; she's a mystery novel writer. He goes out to tend his sheep and she does what she can to change his way of life. Like insisting his working sheep dogs sleep in the house on a blanket by the fire. And breaking down when she realizes the lambs can't be her personal pets (they're off to the slaughter). There are attempts at humour -long, drawn-out accounts of her falling in sheep dung wearing a wool skirt and expensive blouse (she's always wearing a blouse!?) and a painful account relating a mix-up involving the word "pants" ("men's underwear" in Scotland, apparently). And the time the enlightened 9 year-old neighbour couldn't stop mispronouncing the word "penis" -as "peenish". Really?? A 9 year-old can't say "penis"?? So the story goes on in this vein for a while. Basically, she gives up her life to hang around his farm in the desperate hope that he will marry her. That's right. After a grand total of 1 month together, she is convinced they belong together forever, and starts to get pissy when he doesn't propose. Then she launches a creepy, circa 1950esque campaign to manipulate him into marriage. I think it was supposed to be funny or something, but I just cringed. Actually, I cringed a lot. And then I stopped listening. I moved on to the next book on my list, and heaved a great sigh of relief.

Sweet American meets Scot love story

It's a little dated, but it was a good solid story, I chuckled, groaned at her perceived angst and smiled at their true affection for each other, what more can you ask for in a romance book? Yeah go ahead and use your credit.

Absolutely Awful!

This is one of the WORST books I have ever purchased from Audible in the three+ years I have been a member! The storyline is as cliched as it gets and what little plot there is is just trite. This book is so stupid. I want to know how it even got published because it's THAT BAD! Kathie, typical ignorant American in England meets your stereotypical huge, hunky Highlander, Iain.

Chekov's Gun

I love Todd Haberkorn with a passion. His narrations are always fun and entertaining. He was better than the book's material.

The book isn't bad, it's okay. There aren't really any big plot twists, you can figure out where the story is going, and as a book that's more than ten years old, it's somewhat dated, but I still wanted Thorne and Nicole to get together.

However....know that going in, you're up against these:

First, please don't have sex outside, in the winter, in Wyoming or Montana or wherever they were unless you want to catch hypothermia.

Second, and this is BIG (and where Chekov's Gun comes into play), if you're going to have unprotected sex in the first act, you better have either a baby or an STD in the second. There were zero consequences of unprotected sex.

Third, while there's an HEA for the main characters, the whole reason Thorne came home - his sister's car accident - isn't resolved. I'm not sure I want to continue through two more books just to get to her story, even with Todd narrating.

Never received the audible story

Paid for the Audible part of the book to go along with the book and Didn't received audible part!!!

Bad story and worse narration..

Jeez, did they have to keep talking out loud to themselves, so someone could huh? or what did you say? Too many inner thoughts are bad enough but when theyre saying them out loud its just silly. And going on a horseback ride date when its freezing outside in a SKIRT? Give me a break, and then five minutes later Thorne has Nicole STILL outside UNDRESSED and ready to have sex, didn't say anything about a blanket at any time so I'm assuming he just put her down on the cold dirty ground and went at it, AND he was still completely dressed. Wow, that is just too stupid. If youre going to write a scene like that it should have been in the summer, not in blowing freezing weather. This book needs to be rewritten so it makes sense.

Sorry, but this is a DNF for me at 62%. It could have been a good story but the author didnt even bother to think of what she was doing. I wonder if she ever went out in the kind of weather she wrote about and got undressed and thought about having sex, or did she see how fast she could get dressed again. Its ignorant for ANY author to write an outdoor sex scene when its freezing out.

As to the narrator: He kind of suck! No emotion, hardly any change when he did a womans voice. AND, believe it or not, his mens voices sounded feminine sometimes. I cant figure that out.

I love me some men from the Play by Play Series!

Thrown by a Curveis the fifth book ofPlay-by-Playseries by Jaci Burton. This book is like the others in the series which always ends with a delicious HEA. A romance with steamy scenes and likeable characters. This story continues with the Riley family and focuses on Alicia "Gavin's cousin" and Garrett "hot baseball player". Alicia Riley is a physical therapist who is assigned to hot shot ball player Garrett Scott's shoulder recovery. Garrett is the typical star athlete... arrogant, confident, and extreme sexiness.This story was a pretty straight forward romance. There wasn't very much drama or conflict. I loved the pace the relationship took to progress. It was a slow gradually build from friendship to something more. I could still feel the chemistry between Alicia and Garrett from the very beginning. In fact, there were lots of sexual innuendos and flirtatious banter between them. The sex is postponed while the author focuses a lot on building the romance & chemistry between Garrett and Alicia. I will rate the book 3 stars, simply because it was good, fast and a easy listen. However, it was missing the typical intensity found in the other previous 4 books in the series. Keep in mind, it wasn't a bad book just not my favorite. I definitely look forward to listening to book 6 soon.

Unexpected Violence

Until the last 10 minute, Thrown by a Curve was a cute if predictable romance between baseball pitcher Garrett and PT therapist Alicia.

Unexpectedly, Garrett hit Alicia right after declaring his undying love and unexpectedly Alicia accepted the physical abuse as "sexy & exciting". What crap! No man would deliberating hurt a woman he likes or respects. And Alicia was not written as a weak, pathetic bimbo who would let a man degrade her.

For most of the story, Alicia was helping Garrett heal from a painful injury. After suffering for months, it didn't make sense that Garrett would inflict pain & humiliation on the person who helped him get better.

Oops

I listened to and loved Driving With the Top Down so I took a shot at this one; wish I hadn't done that. I gave up on this one after an excruciatingly long seven hours. Even when broken down into hour long segments even those seemed to drag on intermediately and in excruciating detail about a woman who even according to her lives a boring in a small boring town. Well now that's just great, so glad you decided to share it with us but I could have done without the insomnia cure.

Beth Harbison is usually an excellent writer and Orlagh Cassidy's has a smooth pleasant voice and does a good job with this audiobook. Though in retrospect that might have been part of the problem; her voice was so smooth that it further flattened the story. I enjoyed Driving With the Top Down enough to take a shot at another of her novels on audio but this one ain't it.

Good story, but not great

I truly love Beth Harbison books, but this one seemed to drag a bit, slow. I will still read others of her work though!

Not my usual expectation from Beth Harbison

I usually love Beth Harbison books but I guess I favor the ones that have multiple main characters. I wanted to hear more of a story but this book mostly focused on the character's inner emotional progress more than anything. Not that it was bad just not what I feel like I typically hear in a Beth Harbison book.

Beth Harbison's books tend to fall more under women's fiction than my normal straight romance genres that I like to read, but every once in a while, I grab one on audio for something different. I absolutely adore the title of this one which is definitely what grabbed me and the story sounded intriguing.

Quick Read

If you could sum up Stop the Wedding! in three words, what would they be?

I enjoyed this book. It was a good romance without the raunchy sex scenes. The story line was good & it was somewhat believable. It is a fiction book so who cares if they fell in love in a week.

I don't know. I would have to read reviews first.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

First of all on the front of the cover it states romantic comedy. There was nothing funny. I expected to at least chuckle, but nothing. So I guess to add more comedy.

What about Carla Mercer-Meyers performance did you like?

She was very pleasant to listen to.

Yeah it was ok.

The story was good. The only thing I didn't like was this book was listed as a romantic comedy. I think the author forgot the comedy part. That's my opinion anyway. If you like romantic with a little sadness this book is totally for you. Happy reading!

One word ---Boring

So boring and so so slow. I did not care what happen to the characters. This is not worth your credit.
