Know without a doubt that God is with you and stands ready to protect and guide you. He holds your hand, and He won't let go.
When Carol Kent's son was sentenced to life in prison without parole, Carol was consumed with grief, sadness, and despair. She was distraught wondering why God permitted this to happen. She had prayed for her son since he was a small child. He had been raised with biblical principles and daily prayer. As Carol tried to make sense of everything, she couldn't help asking, "Where's God when it hurts so much?"
In the middle of her sorrow, Carol turned to the place where she had always gone for comfort - the Bible. She was desperate to hear God's voice. She soon discovered that the best way for her to "listen" to His voice was to meditate on Scripture and then write out what she believed He was saying. She wrote it as if it was His prayer over her life, and it comforted her. It was as if He took her by the hand, as a father would guide a child, and He gently led her in the direction of unconditional love, renewed hope, and fresh faith.
He Holds My Hand is a 365-day devotional. Based on Scripture, this devotional is written as if God the Father is speaking His words of comfort and protection directly over you.
Listen to God's voice and put your hand in His. He is your Comforter, your Healer, your Teacher, and your Joy.
Remember He holds your hand, and He won't let go.

In this exceptional lecture series, you will explore how Jesus used this teaching method to preach the good news and address vital issues in society. You will journey through the most beloved parables: the Prodigal Son, the Rich Man and Lazarus, the Lost Sheep, and many more. As you do so, you will come to understand the message of the Gospel as never before. As Fr. Raymond Collins praises, "Andrea Molinari and Jack Conroy breathe new life into the parables of Jesus".
You will take two Scripture experts as your guides for delving into the word of God. Under their guidance, you will examine the literary and historical context of the ancient texts that incorporate parables. After exploring a selection of illuminating parables in the Old Testament and documents outside of the biblical canon, you will dive into the New Testament, looking at 12 of the most powerful and enduring parables told by Jesus. You will ask two essential questions: "What does the parable say?" and "what does the parable mean?" As you move through these lectures, you will more fully understand the teaching of Jesus and engage the word of God in your daily life.

    Genres: Religion & Spirituality, Christianity
    Publisher's Summary:
    This course is singularly outstanding.
Discipleship is expertly taught, with clear examples and an engaging style you will find moving and compelling. Your guide, Fr. Anthony Gittins, is not only a world-renowned scholar; he is also a charismatic presenter who for good reason was selected to deliver the 2012 Los Angeles Religious Education Congress keynote address.
What does it really mean to be a disciple of Jesus? In the Bible, Jesus says to his followers, "If you continue in my word, you are truly my disciples; and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free". Now you can discover this "truth" and how to spread his word through your own life.
In Discipleship, you will explore the two vital elements that compose discipleship: mission and evangelization. Mission is God's work - the heart of the mystery we call God, which has literally been brought to Earth and incarnated in Jesus. Jesus came to do the work of the one who "missioned" him through evangelization: the dynamic diffusion of the Gospel of salvation through everything he does.
One burning question remains: What will happen to this mission, started before time began and continued through the life and work of Jesus, when Jesus returns to His Father after the Resurrection?
The answer is, quite simply, discipleship. No one understands the meaning of discipleship better than Fr. Anthony Gittins, PhD, a man who has dedicated his life to mission. He eloquently demonstrates how New Testament discipleship can be applied to your life today. Through these absorbing lectures, you will come to understand how you are called to follow Jesus and continue God's mission.
Join Fr. Gittins and discover how to follow Jesus on his path today.

    Publisher's Summary:
"Thy kingdom come." Christians frequently recite these words. But what is God's kingdom?
Such a question has fascinated the faithful for more than two millennia. Throughout history we have pondered our ultimate salvation and the "end times", from St. Paul's eschatological epistles to modern best sellers like the Left Behind series.
Now, this brilliant course introduces you to that history and practice of eschatology, or the study of the final events in history. With an award-winning Catholic professor as your guide, you will discover renewed hope as you learn about salvation. By exploring Scripture, history, and culture, you will deepen your understanding of this topic.
You will begin by exploring Jewish beliefs and apocalyptic literature about God's redemption of the world. Next you will turn to the life and ministry of Jesus and the early church, which adapted those eschatological ideas to herald Jesus as the Messiah sent to inaugurate God's kingdom on earth.
You will then address the legacy of biblical hope in Christian history. How should you interpret the apocalyptic images of the Bible: as literal descriptions or symbols? This question has led to contemporary end-times speculation, which has deep cultural implications in Western culture.
Eschatology is thus as important as it is fascinating. To study this topic is to learn what it means to be a Christian - a believer filled with hope in the life of the world to come.

    Publisher's Summary:
Discover how the spirituality of Vatican II can ignite your faith today.
Fifty years ago, over 2,000 bishops, theologians, and lay participants from 116 countries gathered in Rome. This assembly of minds, "quite possibly the biggest meeting in the history of the world" (O'Malley, What Happened at Vatican II), was the 21st worldwide council of the church, the Second Vatican Council. Led by Popes John XXIII and Paul VI, what emerged was an intense examination of the voice and promptings of the Holy Spirit.
Vatican II radically shaped the spirituality and doctrine of the Catholic Church in the 20th and 21st centuries, and its documents are as relevant today as ever. Indeed, Pope Benedict XVI declared 2012-2013 as the Year of Faith to mark the anniversary of Vatican II. That year, he said, would provide a "new impetus to the mission of the whole church to lead men...to the place of life, of friendship with Christ."
Now, in The Spirituality of Vatican II, you will discover how the 16 council documents can shape your faith and relationship with Christ today. Presented by spirituality expert Fr. Anthony Ciorra, PhD, this audio program captures the energy of the council by examining the spirituality behind the council documents. When Vatican II opened on October 11, 1962, Pope John XXIII prayed for a new Pentecost for the renewal of the church that would bring hope to the world. Both timely and timeless, this course penetrates the heart of the council, providing a model of personal growth that will help you encounter the issues and concerns faced by church in the 21st century.

Holcombâs prose is concise and flowing, and the book reads like a survey course of two millennia of religious and philosophical readings. The authorâs contemporary interpretations, as well as his reflection on the metrics by which an extraordinary life can be measured and attained, are interesting and thought-provoking. If anything, the scope of the book is a bit too ambitious. The discussion of modern churches in the context of the New Testament felt didactic at times, and the ultimate call to action seemed âmillenial-centric.â I would recommend this book to all contemplative readers.
