    Publisher's Summary:
Speaking to saints from heaven might be rare, but in these times, more and more people are starting to experience it. In biblical times, Jesus had a conversation with Moses and Elijah on the Mount of Transfiguration recorded in Matthew 17:1-9. Then, in Matthew 27:50-53, as Jesus died and the temple veil was torn, Scripture records in verse 52-53, "...and the graves were opened and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised...and coming out of the graves after his resurrection, they went into the holy city and appeared to many...."
We are living in times where known prophets are speaking of encounters they have had with departed saints. For many years, Matthew has been having visitations, and more recently, Jesus commissioned him to interview five saints that the Holy Spirit brought to earth. These saints, part of the great cloud of witnesses mentioned in Hebrews 12:1, all answered the same nine questions. These included:

    Hearing God
This book is mind blowing in some ways and yet, nonsensical in others. The author claims to have been visited by five saints who are in heaven whereby he asks standard questions. Each reply with their views and share their wisdom to the world. At first, I was a little skeptical because I don't want to be deceived and want to be certain to entertain the right spirit. However, each of the respondents provide scripturally sound guidance and advice.
I was also intrigued by the notion of being surrounded by a cloud of witnesses. The scripture has provided a mental image of those who have passed on and cheering us on to finish our journey according to God's plan and purpose. I had never considered that the saints would be cheering on mankind but it makes perfect sense!
I am blessed by the book and trust it will be a blessing to those who seek a deeper spiritual walk with Jesus. That is my desire and that of the author.

    Title: Nomadic Text
Subtitle: A Theory of Biblical Reception History
    Author: Brennan W. Breed
    Narrator: Lynn Benson
    Format: Unabridged
Length: 11 hrs and 30 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 06-26-17
    Publisher: University Press Audiobooks
Ratings: 5 of 5 out of 2 votes
    Genres: Religion & Spirituality, Christianity
    Publisher's Summary:
Brennan W. Breed claims that biblical interpretation should focus on the shifting capacities of the text, viewing it as a dynamic process rather than a static product. Rather than seeking to determine the original text and its meaning, Breed proposes that scholars approach the production, transmission, and interpretation of the biblical text as interwoven elements of its overarching reception history. Grounded in the insights of contemporary literary theory, this approach alters the framing questions of interpretation from "What does this text mean?" to "What can this text do?"
    Critic Reviews:
"Offers a new approach to reception history - and a well-thought-out and persuasive one at that..." (Mark Brummitt, Colgate Rochester Crozer Divinity School)
"Brennan Breed's Nomadic Text is...a reevaluation of text criticism and its search for the original text...He makes a compelling argument that all biblical interpretation is reception history." (Journal of the Bible and Its Reception)

    Insightful and Profound
What made the experience of listening to Nomadic Text the most enjoyable?
Dr. Breed takes a wide range of knowledge from the Bible and various disciplines, and puts us on a new path for understanding faith and culture through multiple lenses.
What did you like best about this story?
For a scholar in the humanities, Dr. Breed has an incredible grasp of scientific (and other) analogies which he uses to great effect in layman's terms.
What about Lynn Bensons performance did you like?
A book like this has a lot of specialized terminology which Benson navigates well.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
The book climaxes around an exposition of a passage from the book of Job. The stories shared about the historian as redeemer were particularly powerful.
    Any additional comments?
This book won a 2016 Manfred Lautenschlaeger Award for Theological Promise, given only to a first theological publication of an author. Dr. Breed indeed does have a promising career ahead of him.

    Narrator: Chuck Shelby
    Format: Unabridged
Length: 6 hrs and 3 mins

    Publisher: Quoir
Ratings: 5 of 5 out of 1 votes
    Genres: Religion & Spirituality, Christianity
    Publisher's Summary:
While millions of believers around the world are finding their understanding of Christianity to be outdated and untenable, Matthew Distefano has managed to paint the gospel in such a way that even an atheist could appreciate its beauty. Rather than a message of rapture, or rewards and reprisals, Distefano presents the good news of what God has done in history to stem the tide of our own violence and evil - inviting us into a whole new way of living and being in this world. By integrating Rene Girard's "mimetic theory" and Ernest Becker's "death anxiety", Distefano is able to diagnose the root causes of human violence and then offer the life-giving solution in the person of Jesus. Both the struggling evangelical and unbeliever alike can take refuge here, finding in this gospel the thing their soul - and the disintegrating world around them - is thirsting for.

This book will change your theology for the better
As a father with young children, I often have to go to obligatory birthday parties. Every parent knows what Iâm talking about - my son brought home an invitation to the event and pleaded with me to take him. So, my son and his introverted father went to the party, which happened to be at a bowling alley. He bowled while I made my way to the bar to sit with the other dads.
I made small talk with them. As an introvert, Iâve learned to ask a lot of questions, which keeps the attention off of me and onto others. But I soon ran out of questions. Thus ensued the dreaded Awkward Silence. A sense existential angst poured into my body as I knew what was about to happen.
âSo,â my conversation partner began, âwhat do you do for a living?â
And here is where I came to my dilemma. Do I tell the truth, which is usually adds to the Awkward Silence, or do I make up something really exciting - the FBI, CIA, or Video Game Tester?
âIâm a pastor,â I replied, âand a blogger for the Raven Foundation and Teaching Nonviolent Atonement websites.â
Yep. Our friend Awkward Silence came for a visit. Few know how to respond to âHi. My name is Adam. Iâm a pastor and a blogger.â But words soon began to fill the silence. Another dad sitting next to us heard the word Atonement and wanted to talk.. I was completely surprised when he said with a great deal of passion, âI donât think Jesus should have done it. He shouldnât have gone to the cross. He should have resisted.

I've been living for God a long time
    (I'm not tired yet)
I've been praying to the Lord a long time
    (I'm not tired yet)
It's an uphill journey, but all I've got to say is
    (I'm not tired yet)
The old spiritual song lifts you, but you are tired. Or maybe you're bored. You're still going to church. You're still praying. You're still serving. You're still giving. Deep within you, faith remains. But you feel a longing.
You're not seeking fireworks. You're not a pew sitter, safe in some spiritual comfort zone, looking for a thrill from the Lord. Your trust in God is secure. But you feel a longing for something more, deeper, fresher.
If you've ignored these innermost feelings, thinking they're no big deal, this basic yet dynamic program that Bishop Vashti McKenzie has implemented in more than 200 churches with astounding results is for you. Individuals who have had many years of Christian life discovered a renewed sense of calling and purpose. Even new believers were invigorated in their faith-building process.
Bishop McKenzie prescribes very small changes - such as adding a mere 30 seconds of prayer daily - that lead to radical closeness to God. And building an enjoyable, meaningful relationship with the Almighty doesn't mean striving for perfection. Small steps - but meaningful steps - collectively evolve into intimacy with God. And the big-deal result is greater ability to biblically address life's challenges. The big deal is that you're even more available to serve family, church, and community: truly in "no ways tired". Increasing spirituality is incremental, not monumental. Mustard seed-like increases in positive actions (and corresponding decreases in negative ones) yield mountain-moving growth!
    Critic Reviews:
"Bishop Vashti McKenzie amidst the many organizational demands as the first female Bishop of the AME church, still takes time as the Christian soldier she is, to give both profound and practical tools to guide the sheep to the brook of still waters. Her words are penned to guide us all to the cool waters of real discipleship! Her inclusive approach refuses to leave behind those sheep tied in the thicket! It's a must read." (Bishop T. D. Jakes, CEO of TDJ Enterprises and New York Times best-selling author)

    Publisher's Summary:
Jesus lived with his disciples for three years and taught them life lessons in a relational atmosphere. After three years, he commanded them to "go and do likewise" (Matthew 28:18-20). Our God, the Trinity, is a relational God. He lives in perfect harmony with the other members of the Godhead. His word is full of exhortations to love and serve one another. This book will tell you how. The isolationism present in the western world is creating a hunger for community, and the world is longing to see relational disciples in action. This book will encourage Christ followers to allow God to use family, friends, cells, and mission communities to mold and shape them into relational disciples.

A wonderful new read by Joel Comiskey. So different!
What a genuine pleasure to be the very first person to review this new release by Joel Comiskey! I've enjoyed every Comiskey book I've read (and there are plenty!) but this one is different. Joel bares his soul in this book in a way he's never done before in his other books. He shares stories from his own discipleship relationships that drive the biblically-based principles home in a powerful way. From struggles to breakthroughs, you'll appreciate Joel's honesty and transparency about how to disciple someone through a deep relationship and in the context of a biblical community, not some cognitive book.
    Practical and Theological
Just read relational disciple. Easy read and full of great theological truth to help us be true disciples of Christ. This is a great guide to becoming a healthy disciple, which leads to healthy cells! I highly recommend this book to every follower of Christ who wants to be more like Jesus and make disciples Jesus' way.
    Good book!
I'm happy about this book! It shows, what Discipleship is all about.

The problem isn't sex. God designed sex, and sex is good. Sex is a powerful union that brings men and women together. But when sex is distorted by sin, the misuse of our sexuality can alienate us from one another, causing immense harm and pain.
Enter pornography - the most prevalent distortion of sexual sin in America. Pornography is not only a problem in terms of personal morality but a social epidemic that is making the possibility of sexually fulfilled marriages harder to achieve. It is rewiring our brains to think about sexuality in destructive ways. We have a very serious problem, and it's not isolated to any one segment of culture.
So, what now? Editors Russell Moore and Andrew T. Walker of the Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission (ERLC) assemble leading voices to frame the issue with a Gospel-centered perspective. The Gospel for Life series gives every believer a biblically saturated understanding of the most urgent issues facing our culture today, because the Gospel is for all of life.
