Overall I'd say that this was a good read. The overall plot was a bit unrealistic but aren't most. Good job Alers
    I loved this story!!!!
although it began very sadly, the love that was revealed through the story was overwhelmingly awesome!!!!!!!
    Distracted by Mispronunciation
What did you like best about Sweet Deception? What did you like least?
I stumbled upon the Eaton series. I do like serials as they can give a reader an opportunity to learn more about characters (or, in this case, a family).
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
A little unrealistic, but still entertaining.
What didnt you like about Erica Loves performance?
Although animated and great voices for the characters, Ms. Love mispronounced quite a number of words and mixed up the genders for personal pronouns (saying "he" when "she" was appropriate and vice versa). Occasional mispronounced words can be overlooked, but I found the frequency distracting. This was the second audio book narrated by Ms. Love that I have experienced this same problem.
Do you think Sweet Deception needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?
I know there are more about the Eatons. I will read them.
    Enjoyable but...
This book was a good listen. It was too drawn out. The plot could've been better. It was a little to unrealistic for this day in age especially set in my hometown of Philadelphia.

A Billionaire' s Redemption (Vengeance in Texas Book 3)
Gave five stars----Cindy Dees did an outstanding job with writing this story----wonderful love story between the hero & heroine(Gabe & Wilia)---love the romance & the suspence of this story!! Highly recommended for everyone (this book & the series)-----some sexual scenarios that are for mature adults, this is strictly my opinion!!!!
    DARK but Sweet
Personally I loved it. I haven't read any of the other books in the series and there might have been a few things left unresolved that really probably should have been or just kept out all together. At times I felt I was watching an episode of NCIS. An ending that might have been a little rushed and annoying but the twist at the end was... interesting. It wasn't entirely unexpected, I'd had my hand in another pot but I would have been happier if a third person had actually done it... someone mentioned in the story, or even one that was briefly touched upon. Or even this other person too could have worked well. Or that one. There were many good choices some more unexpected than others, as someone said, she has a lot of enemies in the book. Not all of them warranted and I find it hard to believe that she doesn't have any friends, her mother had friends and she was more of a recluse than Willa was. Willa worked at a school, went to college and all sorts of other things for crying out loud! Although thinking about it, if she hadn't had a job it would have been easier to swallow. Anyway the no friends thing when she's that rich and that influential of a family seemed... a little naive in how everyone turned against her especially as they still had money and power. Let's just say there was a lot of things jammed in here and that's really the only down side. It's dark and deals with a lot of complex issues. I've been reading a lot of those recently so I think that romance novels have taken a turn and are actually dealing with real matters as well as having the HEA. Which I'm glad for. I really enjoyed this book, it was sweet, and it was honest and even if I didn't agree with all of the main characters' actions I could still understand them and not judge them TOO harshly for it. The author did a great job at keeping things real and on a good pace. There was only one point I really felt I wanted to skip ahead and it caught me up again a paragraph later. It was a nice blend of romance and plot, both were there throughout and the plot wasn't pushed aside while they worked out their problems.

    Language: English
    Release date: 04-19-13
    Publisher: Audible Studios
Ratings: 4 of 5 out of 11 votes
    Genres: Mysteries & Thrillers, Suspense
    Publisher's Summary:
Peter Ackland is ordered to rest by his Doctor. He travels to Cornwall and is greeted by Henry Braddock at the door of a cottage below the 'skytip'. Braddock has a revolver in his pocket. Ackland also comes across Nathan Murrison and his valet, who divide their time between exploring the 'skytip' and propping up the bar of the Green Dragon; a charming young lady who, on behalf of a Member of Parliament, tries her hand at burglary; other less charming characters who try their hand at blackmail; and a stage that is all set for murder.
Eric Ambler was born into a family of entertainers and in his early years helped out as a puppeteer. However, he initially chose engineering as a full time career, although this quickly gave way to writing. In World War II he entered the army and looked likely to fight in the line, but was soon after commissioned and ended the war as assistant director of the army film unit and a Lieutenant-Colonel. This experience translated into civilian life and Ambler had a very successful career as a screen writer, receiving an Academy Award for his work on The Cruel Sea by Nicolas Monsarrat in 1953. Many of his own works have been filmed, the most famous probably being Light of Day, filmed as Topkapi under which title it is now published. He established a reputation as a thriller writer of extraordinary depth and originality and received many other accolades during his lifetime, including two Edgar Awards from The Mystery Writers of America (best novel for Topkapi and best biographical work for Here Lies Eric Ambler), and two Gold Dagger Awards from the Crime Writer's Association (Passage of Arms and The Levanter). Often credited as being the inventor of the modern political thriller, John Le Carre once described Ambler as 'the source on which we all draw.' A recurring theme in his works is the success of the well meaning yet somewhat bungling amateur who triumphs in the face of both adversity and hardened professionals. Ambler wrote under his own name and also during the 1950's a series of novels as Eliot Reed, with Charles Rhodda. These are now published under the 'Ambler' umbrella.
    Members Reviews:
Good story, well narrated, tedious exposition
Though Eric Ambler is identified in the Shop blurb as the author, he actually co-author the novel with Charles Roddy, and it was published under the pseudonym Eliot Reed.

    Publisher's Summary:
A novel of mystery, videogames, and the people who create them, by the best-selling author of Soon I Will Be Invincible.
When Russell joins Black Arts games, brainchild of two visionary designers who were once his closest friends, he reunites with an eccentric crew of nerds hacking the frontiers of both technology and entertainment. In part, he's finally given up chasing the conventional path that has always seemed just out of reach. But mostly, he needs to know what happened to Simon, the strangest and most gifted friend he ever lost, who died under mysterious circumstances soon after Black Arts' breakout hit.
Then Black Arts' revolutionary next-gen game is threatened by a mysterious software glitch, and Russell finds himself in a race to save his job, Black Arts' legacy, and the people he has grown to care about. The bug is the first clue in a mystery leading back 20 years, through real and virtual worlds, corporate boardrooms and high school computer camp, to a secret that changed a friendship and the history of gaming. The deeper Russell digs, the more dangerous the glitch appears - and soon, Russell comes to realize that much more is at stake than just one software company's bottom line.
Austin Grossman's debut novel Soon I Will Be Invincible announced the arrival of a singular, genre-defying talent "sure to please fans of Lethem and Chabon" (Playboy). With You, Grossman offers his most daring and most personal novel yet - a thrilling, hilarious, authentic portrait of the world of professional game makers; and the story of how learning to play can save your life.
    Members Reviews:
YOU might want to try a different book
Sadly, You could have been so much better, but as it stands, I don't recommend it unless you are really interested in the history of personal gaming computers and games. I picked up the book because someone said it reminded him of Ready Player One which I loved even though I'm not a big gamer. Be warned, You has almost nothing in common with RPO except that video games factor in the story. The plot lines of the two books are not similar at all and YOU is strictly fiction not sci-fi/fantasy fiction.
The plot of You is one of its problems - Russell, the main character, is struggling to find himself and his place in the world. By going to work for a video game company started by his old friends he tries to reconnect to his past and work through his existential questions while exploring the games as part of his job. The title YOU comes from the large sections of the book that are conveyed in second person as Russell works through his questions and problems as an avatar in different games. Example: You are a 14 year old girl, you are on a space ship, you encounter a cave, etc. Its not that the plot is dull, it just sort of seems to wander around and I found the second person sections a little confusing and tiresome after a while. In addition to trying to resolve his own identity crisis, Russell attempts to delve into the mystery of the death of his genius friend, Simon. If Grossman had made the resolution of mystery a larger part of the plot, that might have helped create more tension in the narrative, but ultimately, the mystery takes a back seat and the book leaves many related questions open.
In addition, the characters, although interesting, are difficult to relate to.

    Editorial Reviews:
In Green Hell, coolly narrated like a certified tough guy whos seen some hard things by Ray Porter, the listener continues to follow the exciting and dangerous exploits of The Rat Bastards, the hardest combat unit that crawled through the steamy jungles of the Pacific during World War II.
When the combat action gets heavy and things start getting real, The Rat Bastards are the guys that push forward rather than fall back; the ones with a tenacious iron-willed spirit that no enemy fire can touch. A fascinating listen of hardcore soldiers at work.

    A waste of time...
Is there anything you would change about this book?
Yes, pretty much everything. The plot was not cohesive. The main character has some weird kind of memory condition (cannot forget anything) that honestly makes it seem like she's jumping around in some kind of personal time machine: totally distracting to the main story, and really unbelievable if you ask me. How could this person even function in her day to day life? Most of the characters were just plain unlikable, especially her assistant-what an idiot! I could go on and on--it's bad writing, just BAD. The narration just seals it's fate in my opinion. As I already mentioned the plot just jumps around too much and repeats itself. For instance, mentioning a stupid blue car over and over and never getting to the point! Instead of moving at a pace to tie things together, it's very disjointed, kind of like a bad dream that doesn't make any sense, you just want it to be OVER.
Has And She Was turned you off from other books in this genre?
Not at all. I love truly good suspense/thrillers, this just wasn't good, suspenseful or thrilling.
How did the narrator detract from the book?
Sadly, the narrator isn't very skilled at male voices.
Did And She Was inspire you to do anything?
    Turn it off.
    Any additional comments?
I tried to like this book- I really did, but almost three hours in, I decided enough was enough!

    Geschickt gestreute Irritationen!
    Was passiert mit Eva Rossbach?

Just Trying To Give a Different Perspective
This audiobook has gotten pretty terrible reviews on Audible and Audible UK, and I expect it may be enough to stop people buying the series. I just feel compelled to write something on the book and series from a different perspective.
Yes, I agree that some people may have listened to the first books with a different narrator, and not liked the change. However, taken on his own merits, Ralph Lister did a more than admirable job, and was able to convey different voices with nice distinction. I enjoyed his narration.
And the story. Well, I'd suggest listen to all three concurrently. They form a whole story. And it is a fantastic tale of a man thrust into the world of the supernatural. I definitely feel compelled to listen to this book again in the future.
I'd definitely recommend considering this series. And if you want a more balanced review on the story themselves, check the large numbers of favorable reviews for the books, including this one, on Amazon. They are a fantastic series, and I'd hate to think of people missing out on them just because of some oddly negative audiobook reviews here.
    best of the 3
its much darker than the first couple books and it has a very satisfying conclusion
    Too Slow
I couldn't get into this book as hard as I tried. Too much talking and not enough action.
    Great Story
I have listened to all three of this series - unfortunately the first two were narrated by Paul Thornley, so when I tried to listen to this, although Ralph Lister is good, I just couldn't carry on - it wasn't Jack Nightingale! After just one chapter I bought Paul Thornley's version. Now I'm looking forward to the next.

    Dont start at ten PM.
Tops in a survival, yes, but also a topnotch thriller. The book is non stop interest. Garfield has written many fine books, Hopscotch being maybe his personal best but this one is one to keep you up at nght.
Fear In a Handful of Dust
I felt at times I wanted to push them. Push them forward- the characters and the author.
It seems the author knew a lot about desert survival or perhaps it seemed that way because I know nothing of that.
There were times I appriciated the collection of words put together by the author. Example: In descrribing a professor through one of the characters-'Enormous and shabbby and old, a grey eminence crowned by a violent eruption of tangled hair.'
I wondered why through the whole time a mentally ill criminal along with his 4 kidnapped victims were in the desert no one ever looked for them.
There was a satisfactory outcome for the characters but the book ended with a question leaving the feeling there should be a sequel.
    Great Desert Survival Handbook
The plot was interesting but needed a little push of action. The book was well-written and if you are going to the desert, take this book with you because it has some great tips for survival! Otherwise, it was kind of boring for the most part. It's an old book but I watched the movie on Netflix (80's drama). I liked the movie a little better.
