● Warm up cold calling with some research. Find similar interests or something that you have in common like going to the same college, grew up in the same town, etc.

● Send a handwritten follow-up note to help you stand out.

● Stay in touch by sending an article they may be interested in.

● If you ask someone in person to meet, it's 34 times more likely to be granted, compared with an email or phone invitation.

● Be genuinely curious and authentic when helping people.

● If you have time to eat, you’ve got time to meet new people. Enjoy a virtual lunch or coffee with someone.

● “Consistently look for ways to either reconnect with people that you know or meet new people.”
