How to Reduce Our Consumption of Single Use Plastic (and Why)

Nearly 300 million tons of plastic is produced each year, half of which is for items we use once, then toss, like straws, coffee cup lids, and plastic bags and bottles. Only a small percentage of the plastic produced is recycled or repurposed. What’s left is slowly degrading into smaller and smaller pieces that we’re finding in our soil, water and even the air. On The Point, we discuss ways to reduce our consumption of single use plastic in our homes and communities. Steve Junker hosts.
