She shares the melt-downs and other challenging behaviors that were present and what happened when she decided to pursue the path of medication to treat ADHD first.

She describes the pivotal moment that changed her perspective on how to treat ADHD that pushed her along a new path for her own life and career and support her son more fully.  Changes were made and tests were run and the result of the shifts led to him calming down and focusing better. • Exploring ADHD: An Alternative Approach (Dana Kay)

Dana shares the story of her personal experience with ADHD diagnosis for her son, and the relief she felt when it was diagnosed. Corbin and Dana discuss what ADHD is, how symptoms vary from child to child. She shares her opinions about why the number of children being diagnosed has drastically increased, and some of the potential causes of this.

The conversation shifts to the benefits of the ADHD brain, but she cautions that when the brain is too inflamed, these benefits cannot be harnessed. The body is compared to a trash can that collects toxins and when there are too many, they can overwhelm the body's ability to contain them and inflammation and intense symptoms can be the result.

How to detoxify is addressed, as well as more on how to improve the diet to fully support your child. She shares the impact these changes made on her son in a matter of weeks. The effects of gluten is also discussed in further detail.

Dana also speaks to the role of parenting specific to ADHD, when psychotherapy helps kids and when it doesn’t, and even how proper spine alignment can reduce inflammation and reduce symptoms

Finally, she confirms her conviction that ADHD is a real diagnosis, and is permanent for some people, but that when inflammation is addressed, the symptoms can be reduced or eliminated.

In this discussion, Jon shares his story and how he learned when he was young ot sweep the difficult things under the rug to keep them hidden. He didn’t learn to talk about difficult things in his life, back then, mental health challenges were stigmatized even more than they are now.

He talks about growing older and playing sports and working, and how he dealt with difficult struggles at home and in life through powering through,  pouring himself into soccer, using drugs and alcohol, but his mental health struggles did not go away.

  • Introduction to Psychedelic-Assisted Psychotherapy (with co-host Rachael Spyker)

This episode is a deep dive into the controversial psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy with Corban and today’s co-host, Rachel Spyker. They discuss the importance of having this conversation, the profoundly transformative effects of this medicines when used specifically and intentionally, with care and caution.

These therapies can help reduce rigid thoughts, support us in moving into primary consciousness states,  help us reflect on our relational templates, and aid us in becoming aware of our primary conscious awareness

They touch on the dangers of this therapy when doing it with a practitioner who isn’t well-trained, when a strong therapeutic relationship isn’t established, and when the treatment is not well-suited to the client’s needs and condition

Corban and Rachel define set and setting when preparing for psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy, and the importance of establishing them as the foundation for this therapy. They talk about two models of associated therapy, one being the Passive Sitter model, the other Psychedelic Somatic Intersectional Psychotherapy, and how the second model is based in part around learning safety around saying “no.”

Proper after-care in phychadelic-assisted phychotherapy is discussed, and the importance of stabilization. They touch on real risks involved in this type of therapy and that research and training has not yet progressed to help people with certain conditions.

Finally, they explore healing and connection, the type of connections we need to heal depending on wounding, and summarize with the statement: “good psychedelic assisted psychotherapy is good therapy, plus the right psychedelic plus the right dose.”

Rachael Spyker has a Masters in Psychology and is a Registered Clinical Counselor in Kelowna, BC, Canada. Michelle mentions how the culture places value on the idea that important things are "hard to do", but suggests that maybe not everything has to be hard. The discussion moved into resistance and flow, following passions, and different definitions of efficiency in regards the projects people take on.

Sustainable energy was touched on, as well as tailoring our lives to our unique passions to increase effectiveness and flow. She discussed how she supports her clients with this work, with paradigm shifts, learning to act out of trust and love instead of fear.

  • How Love and Trust Can Guide Us Into Transformation (Michelle Boule)

In this discussion, Michelle shares some of her story starting at the age of 16, when she was a dancer and dealing with an injury that some said would end her career. During this time she was introduced to a broader range of therapies and supports and was able to transition into dancing professionally. Still dealing with injuries though, she shares how she tried a practitioner who helped her to look at healing differently, including the importance of dealing with emotions such as anger.

Eventually, she found BodyTalk therapy, an energy and consciousness healing system and quickly trained as a practitioner, learning about the head, heart, and gut "brains." This modality of healing energetically asks bodies what the priority for healing is, and once that is addressed, she explains, the energy is then freed up to heal other parts of the person seeking help.

Michelle discussed next how all things seem to come back to love, such as accessing more money, connection to self, others and spirit, and healing itself. The vibration of love is touched on, and also the idea that the unknown is the only place transformation takes place. She suggests that love and trust are what allows us into the unknown.
