Jezebel - an impudent, shameless, or morally unrestrained woman. 

The portrayal of black women as lascivious by nature is an enduring stereotype. The descriptive words associated with this stereotype are singular in their focus: seductive, alluring, worldly, beguiling, tempting, and lewd. Historically, white women, as a category, were portrayed as models of self-respect, self-control, and modesty - even sexual purity, but black women were often portrayed as innately promiscuous, even predatory. This depiction of black women is signified by the name Jezebel. -Dr. David Pilgrim

Sometimes the missteps and indiscretions of our past shape who we are today in a positive way. In this episode, we talk openly about tales of shoplifting and how those experiences have given us a heightened sense awareness, and ability to recognize shoplifters while working in retail. Sex is an integral part of the human experience. And for far too long, the topic has been clouded in stigma, shame, and judgment, particularly from a religious stand-point. Sex positivity is a movement hoping to change that. Being able to have open and honest discussions about sex and sexuality and everything in between. But what happens when you bring abstinence into the conversation? Is it possible to be abstinent and sex positive? Absolutely.

A few thoughts about women and sexuality. How religious or conservative upbringing can compromise femininity and sexuality. And the double standard women often face when it comes to expressing said sexuality. In the book, "Untrue" it states that women go through a "ho phase": a right of passage; the sexual liberation of exploring your options. Why must it be labeled a phase for women?

This episode was supposed to be a production session on how we plan our episodes but we got into the topic of friends and conversations. Often times, we just want to express some of the frustrations or emotions we may be experiencing, simply to let it out. We don't necessarily need advice. Most of the time, we already know what we need to do. All we really want is a sounding board. But this can be a challenge when the friend you are speaking with wants to impart advice, unsolicited advice. What's more is that this advice is something they should be taking themselves and you are left more annoyed than before. Our friends have good intentions, for the most part. But a good rule of thumb is if you aren't specifically asked for advice, don't give it. Do you agree?
