The ice went out on the main channel of the Mississippi River near Guttenberg, Iowa.  But the best ice fishing spots are in good shape with plenty of thickness.  

You can put the boat in and stalk Walleye and later go back to your warm hut on the ice and haul in crappie, bluegill and ring perch.

A HUGE Walleye was caught on the barge below the dam in Guttenberg this week.  Bob calls it a "Five Hundred Year Fish"  We think it was released after measurements.  Would love to talk to the fisherman who caught it.
