The worst answer you can get in sales is a "maybe."
It opens the door to wasted resources and feature creep.
In sales your goal should be to get to "yes" or "no."
Yes means you have a sale! That's a huge win.
No means your product is not right for that customer at this time. In the future your product may improve to the point they want it, or they may be in a different situation that justifies your product.
Maybe leads to all sorts of ugly.
It can lead to an exhausting game of back and forth tag.
It can lead to jamming features into your product that may not actually help it function better. Those added features can start to add up to "feature creep" which may lead to more unexpected problems, delays, and issues you never intended.
In this episode you'll also learn:
π What an MVBP is and how it's different from a Minimum Viable Product
π Why some founders shouldn't be the CEO of their own company
π What you need to be a successful startup
π Why "no" is better than "maybe" when it comes to sales
π How to transition from networking and relationship building into selling
And so much more!

To be successful in business, you don't need to reinvent the wheel.
Apple wasn't the first computer company, Google wasn't the first search engine, and Tesla wasn't the first company to create an electric vehicle.
And yet all of these companies have thrived by taking an existing idea and making it their own.
That's what today's guest, Jesse Cramer, has done with the book "Money Mastermind: 30 Authors, 100+ Topics, One Essential Personal Finance Book."
https://www.amazon.com/Money-Mastermind-Authors-Essential-Personal/dp/B09NRGQSXX
He borrowed an idea from Tim Ferris, and brought together a collection of influencers in the personal finance space and made them a deal.
Repurpose or create the best wisdom you have to share, and we'll put it into a book.
The book pays out authors based on total sales as well as their own sales. With a higher profit margin favoring those who push and market the book to their audiences.
In addition to dissecting the book creation, launch, and post launch strategies, we also cover:
π How to build a successful blog
π The way you can turn your own curiosity and research into content to help your tribe
π The best analogy I've ever heard describing cryptocurrency investing
π Why the best business plan during the gold rush wasn't panning for gold, it was selling picks and shovels to those that did
π Why the national debt isn't as big of a problem as people think it is
π What the government might do when facing down cryptocurrency
And so much more!

When you're ready to start something new, how do you go about doing it?
Do you abandon your current career and go all in?
Alicia Ramsdell of Mindful Career Path recommends a different tactic.
Whether you're an entrepreneur or you're employed and considering another type of work, you can start small and build up a taste for it.
When Alicia worked as an accountant she knew she needed to be working with younger people, helping them and guiding them.
So she asked her boss and was encouraged to help the new hires find their place in the company. [Note to the bosses out there: help your people find the work they do best, you won't regret it!]
Eventually she referred to her work not as excel spreadsheets and accounting, but as helping people find their place.
This lead to more interest and a summer of the most intense power networking I've ever heard of.
Alicia talked with three people every day that were doing the work she wanted to do.
After nearly 100 conversations she took massive action, got certified and started her own business.
A week later, Covid hit!
Tune in to this episode to learn more about how Alicia started her own company, got her first clients, and started rocking, amidst one of the most trying times in the past decade.
You'll also learn:
π How your current role, whether you're an owner or an employee, can be a springboard into more passionate work
π Why authenticity and consistency are your best ways to benefit from your LinkedIn network
π How to help your employees explore work they love
π Why even a career coach has a side hustle
π How a couple months of power networking can lead to clarity and massive action in your business and life

We're at the dawn of a new digital era.
Web 1.0 meant access to basic information.
Web 2.0 was social sharing and connecting through a computer/phone screen.
Web 3.0 will be the blending of the physical and virtual worlds.
Web 4.0? That's where things might get really interesting.
In todays episode we hear from Brian Mastrosimone, a serial entrepreneur who has dabbled in mall kiosks, construction, real estate, and now an event venue at Lincoln Hill Farms.
Not content to be a run of the mill venue, Brian is bringing NFTs (Non-Fungible Token) and virtual reality into the fold.
By digitizing his venue and creating a new way for small bands to earn a living, there are many reasons to believe that Lincoln Hill Farms will be one of the premier venues in the state in short order.
Even if you have no idea what this new fangled tech stuff is, you're going to want to listen in on this one.
In this episode we explore and define:
π What an NFT is
π How NFTs will transform the music industry and be a particular help to smaller bands
π What Brian did to keep his event venue thriving during Covid
π How the deed to your house may become digitized in the not too distant future and the reshaping of finance and real estate industries
π Why tourism will be enhanced by the coming digital changes
π How his physical events and concert space will blend with virtual reality

Risk. Fear. Doubt.
These are the dark side of entrepreneurship.Β
They cause people to close up shop before they even begin. They drive poor decisions, procrastination, and apathy.
But what if that was all part of the plan?
What if the path to a successful business was with fear and doubt, instead of against it?
Melissa Davis of humanity inc. believes that entrepreneurs are the lifeblood of our culture. They drive innovation, change, personal growth, and are the financial engine of the country.
She is on a mission to equip these budding changemakers with the most powerful tool in the entrepreneurial toolkit: Clarity.
By understanding your values, those of your customer, and getting a clearer picture of who you're meant to serve, you'll unlock the secret sauce of success.
You'll also learn:
-How to get clarity on who you're meant to serve
-Why the difference between your aspirational values and lived values determines your level of success
-What your "two-way-street" values are and who you need to share them with
-How to deal withΒ doubt and fear
-What we as a society can do to help entrepreneurs through the gauntlet of the first two years of business

This episode is not for the faint of heart!
Randy Spurling founded On the Spot Cleaners and the next year started investing in real estate.
While the strategy worked for him, it's not for everyone!
Randy shares some tough stories of how his business wore him out and how, in the short term, several strategic errors cost him his most precious resource: time.
With every hard knocks lesson, there's a silver lining: Randy spent 12 weeks traveling this last year. He has trained his team to run much of the business without him (though he's still very involved). And he's invested in ways that allow him to create more time freedom in his life.
In this episode you'll learn:
π How to keep your ego from getting in the way of business decisions
π Why it's sometimes better to make less money in your business
π The reason you need to think big picture when it comes to advertising (and how you may have missed the most cost effective way the whole time!)
π Why Randy loves hiring former restaurant employees
π How and when to hire your first and next employee (and how to make sure they pay for themselves)
π Why teaching others to replicate your success is often more lucrative than the initial business you were in
π And so much more!

Today's episode brings together six(!) different leaders representing four podcasts, with each person covering what they are planning heading into the New Year.
Resolutions abound in January, but not all of them survive to make it until February, let alone December. Each panel member has a unique take on their goals and how they see their future into 2022.
The conversation takes a fun turn when we start to discuss WHY people tend to fail at their goals and resolutions.Β

There's free money out there, friend.
You just need to take the time to find it.
Grants exist to help further what the government sees as important areas of need. There's an ebb and flow to the types of organizations and projects that governments, localities, and agencies want to sponsor.
Emily Palumbos, owner of ESP Consulting, teaches you the two methods of getting grants.
There's the "Do It Yourself" method which is more time intensive and at first will come with quite a bit of a learning curve.
Then there's the "Done for You" option that comes with a price tag, but a better chance at success.
No matter which way you go, it's important to at least check and see what's out there that can help your business.

The salons of 17th and 18th century Europe emerged as intimate gatherings of diverse thinkers who exchanged ideas freely outside the constraints of formal institutions and hierarchies.β¦
HR.Salon carries this tradition into our modern professional context. Just as historical salons fostered movements that shaped culture and politics, we believe our conversations can meaningfully influence the evolution of workplace practices and human resources philosophy.Β
Join host Andrew Biernat as we explore the future of work, innovative organizational practices, and HR strategies you can apply today.
