The second of a series of five theme talks on 'Walk Your Path with Joy' by Catherine Coyne, with opening prayers by Cody Coyne, and a story told by Kate McKenna. This year Catherine is attending her second Hucklow Summer School and is now completely hooked on the experience. She came to Unitarianism through her husband Cody, minister at Cross Street Unitarian Chapel, Manchester, where she organises music recitals and directs the chapel chamber choir. Catherine studied music at the University of Liverpool and, following her studies, worked with her supervisor on his projects to complete unfinished works by Debussy and French composers of the late 19th to early 20th century. From 2007, she worked as a peripatetic music teacher in North Manchester. During her time in education, Catherine was part of a performance with the Halle Orchestra and schools from north Manchester. She directed several flute and wind ensembles of students from all performance levels. Other interests include medical science, psychology and Columbo!

Margaret Kirk says: "I'm a retired minister, previously at York, now leading occasional services with congregations in the north east of England. I have pastoral oversight for the Flowergate Unitarian Chapel Whitby where, in recent times, I have enjoyed creating weddings for the Goth community. Education and training are important to me so I have enjoyed organising and co-facilitating the foundation step of the Worship Studies course based at York. The Engagement ethos where members of a group are able to listen, share and disagree together in a safely facilitated space, is one of the most precious spiritual practices Unitarians can provide for each other and I have been fortunate enough to co-facilitate workshops at a number of RE Summer Schools and was theme speaker in 2006." The fifth of a series of five theme talks on 'This Changes Everything'. John Harley is a teacher, minister and the GA youth coordinator. He enjoys leading creative retreats for Be Here Create and has recently trained as a dramatherapist. On his retreats he attempts to bring together creativity, mindfulness, gentle movement, outdoor experiences and playfulness. He has been involved with the Art and Spirituality Network for around 20 years and until recently was their chair. He is especially interested in developing intergenerational worship that draws on ritual, stories, the senses and participation. He loves cycling, long distance walking, camping, writing poetry and cartooning. He has lived in London for 18 years; later this year he will be moving down to Dorset.

The fourth of a series of five theme talks on 'This Changes Everything'. Maria Pap graduated from the Protestant Theological Institute in Kolozsvar in 1995, as one of the first two women to graduate and be ordained in the Transylvanian Unitarian Church. In 1998-1999 she was the Sharpe Scholar, studying in Manchester and Oxford. In 2003-2004 she studied in Berkeley,CA as Balazs Scholar. Currently she is working at the headquarters of the Hungarian Unitarian Church in Kolozsvar, as the secretary of the Bishop's Office. Previously she has served two congregations for 17 years and in the last 8 years had been the dean of the Haromszek-Felsofeher District. She is married to Laszlo Marko, the media relations officer of the Hungarian Unitarian Church and they have one daughter, Abigel.

The third of a series of five theme talks on 'This Changes Everything'. Jef Jones says: "I've been the Lay Leader at Brighton Unitarian Church since May 2010 and a member since 2001. I was born in Middlesbrough in the north-east, and grew up in nearby Redcar. In my twenties I was a community and youth worker in Leamington Spa and then worked in sexual health promotion for the NHS from 1987 to 2010 in Sheffield and South London. I've collected rocks and fossils all my life. Consequently I have a lot of rocks and fossils."

The second of a series of five theme talks on 'This Changes Everything'. Raised Catholic and never entirely at home in the faith, I became a Unitarian soon after our son was born 21 years ago. I wanted him to grow up in a religious community which believes there are many paths to the divine. For me, the process of opening my mind to a free faith has made it impossible for me to go back to a creedal religion. I have been a member of the Octagon Unitarian Chapel in Norwich for 13 years. Previous to that, I lived in Syracuse, New York, where I was a journalist, with assignments in Somalia, Haiti and Peace-process Belfast, among others. I am part of a Muslim family, which helps me see things from different perspectives. I am the Editor of The Inquirer, the national magazine for British Unitarians. I attended Summer School once before and remember it with great fondness. I look forward to being in that community once more.

The first of a series of five theme talks on 'This Changes Everything'. Danny Crosby says: "I grew up in the village of Birstall in West Yorkshire. There is a huge statue of Joseph Priestley in the market place. He also grew up there. We only knew him as the great scientist as kids. The man who we used to jokingly say "invented oxygen"; I never knew how important he was in the history of Unitarianism. Sadly Birstall has in recent times become known as it was the place that the MP Jo Cox was brutally murdered. I did not have a particularly religious upbringing and certainly for most of my adult life I was an atheistically inclined agnostic. I saw religion and spirituality as irrelevant. Things began to change around the early years of the new millennium. Around about 13 years ago I began to have life transforming spiritual experiences that changed my whole experience of life. Following which I became what I have heard described as a spiritual seeker. I was seeking answer as to what had happened to me. This eventually led me to the doors of Cross Street Chapel, Manchester, over 12 years ago. I instantly found myself at home with Unitarians. I became increasingly involved and loved being part of the community. Following a devastating personal tragedy I began to be drawn towards the ministry. So I commenced leading worship and applied and was accepted to train for the ministry. I loved my time training and have loved the last 6 years serving the people of Urmston and Altrincham in Greater Manchester. The work is tough but deeply rewarding. It has brought me closer and closer to both God and life. I have not yet found answers to the questions that my experiences brought to me and I do not expect I ever will. That said, I have experienced far more than I ever dreamed was possible. I look forward to the journey ahead, whatever it may bring."

The fifth of a series of five theme talks on 'Between the Dreaming and the Coming True'. Sarah is a minister with Kensington Unitarians and is involved with our national training for ministry and leading worship. Having attended the first summer school at Hucklow back in 1995 she writes that "Summer School forms an important part of my Unitarian community life. The connections I've made at Hucklow over the years have helped to deepen and strengthen my life. There's always something new to learn and experience and I look forward to another week of exploration together in the midst of the Peak District landscape, which I so love. I'll bring to our theme talk my interest in using systems thinking as a way to understand congregational life."

The fourth of a series of five theme talks on 'Between the Dreaming and the Coming True'. Cody Coyne is the minister at Cross Street Chapel, Manchester, although his journey doesn't start there: "I was raised in Flushing, Michigan as a Unitarian-Universalist, and became active in my church's music programme while in school." Cody attended the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York, and continued his church involvement at First Universalist. He crossed the pond in 2006 to study in Manchester, though found life taking a different direction. "I had intended to find ministry later in life, but ministry caught me early! I now feel able to share my spiritual explorations more fully with the world."

The third of a series of five theme talks on 'Between the Dreaming and the Coming True'. Rev John Clifford, GA President, is probably known to most British Unitarians from his 13 year spell at Essex Hall (1989-2003). He has ministered with congregations in England, Wales, and Scotland and held administrative posts with the GA, with the International Association for Religious Freedom, and with the International Council of Unitarians and Universalists. Born in the USA he came to the UK in 1970 with a strong Universalist background and identity and a keen internationalist spirit. Married to Barbara for 13 years, they have 5 children and 7 grandchildren (and another on the way) between them. His background in maths and languages has had a large effect on his approach to ministry and congregational relations.
