Been a while between drinks but Episode #38 of the podcast is finally here!
Get your Hip-Hop on with the amazing Ms.She.
Lydia [aka Ms.She.] is an MC/Producer from Perth, who's now based in
Canada. She's received airplay on JJJ, is to be featured on an upcoming
documentary on Aussie artists & even provides feature music for ABC drama
"The Heights": which is set for release in 2019.
Lydia's music & lyrics deeply reflect her personal experiences as an
Indigenous woman in Australia. We spoke about her family, growing up as an
Indigenous woman in Perth & I guarantee her story will open your eyes to a
lot of issues you [& I] weren't aware of.
Lydia is married to a man from the "Blackfoot People"; who are a group of
First Nation people in Canada/Northern America. It was great to learn about
his culture, & also sad albeit unsurprising to see that Indigenous Canadians also deal
with their own sh*t sandwich of discrimination.
We talk Hip Hop, first show jitters & song writing & have a good ole yarn
prior to her long flight home to Canada.
[The episode features: "Same Crime" & "White Dust" by Ms.She]
