  • Gagged Over Drag

In honor of Pride month, this week's episode is all about drag! Bryn and Laura may be gagged over drag but you don't have to be an avid fan of Drag Race to enjoy this episode. What exactly is drag and how has it evolved throughout the queer culture over the years?  Can these performers really be positive role models for the queer youth of today? Queens Bryn and Laura dish about their nerve wrecking experiences dressing in drag for the first time as none other than "Big Boulder" "Patrick Peacock" for a special at home drag show. But is drag just a 2 way gender bend? Is there more to it than just drag queens and drag kings? These ladies break down the incredible education drag can provide to the world watching while emphasizing on some of the boundaries this art form can progressively push even within the queer community itself. So don't be a drag, just be a queen and listen with us!

  • Black Lives Matter

Black Lives Matter. On May 25th 2020 a Human Being by the name of George Floyd lost his life at the hands of a police officer. The world watched as this despicable act of racism unfolded and yet there are still so many surrounding us day to day who still feel that racism is not a deeply imbedded issue in this country. In what feels like a world full of hatred, how do we come together to find the empathy needed in gaining total equality?  Bryn and Laura sit down with a couple of friends to discuss their view of the Black Lives Matter Movement while sharing some of their own personal experiences around racism and bigotry. Adrian Clark and Shelby Walsh join the podcast as we talk about some anxiety inducing topics. At what age does a person of color start to feel judged and unwelcome? What is it like to grow up being the only "token Black friend"? Do you ever truly feel safe going out in public as a Black man? Conversation is a must on this subject and as allies, we would like to dedicate this episode to BLM and all of the Humans who have lost their lives at the hand of police brutality. • Human Connection

One of the most magical parts about being human is the connection we find in others. We all want this sense of reliability and acceptance but not one human is made alike. We reflect the those beautiful differences in the way we act, feel or think and it is what makes us the individuals we are. But in today's day and age, so many of us tend to naturally ostracize ourselves from our neighbors due to these differences creating this great divide within our communities. It becomes a challenge to have hard conversations and push the boundaries of our comfort zone when we loose touch in having such raw human connection. This week Bryn and Laura talk about some of the connections that they've made along their way in life including the connection they call a "frequency". Some of the included topics on this episode are: the innocence of making childhood friends, learning how to cut out toxic people, feeling vulnerable, covid induced social anxiety, reconnecting with friends, staying curious and much more!

  • Mental Health Behind Bars

Mental Health not only matters, but it matters for every human being across our society. That includes those who find themselves behind bars with some facing some of the lowest points of their life. So who's job is it to help these inmates? And who helps the human who handles this kind of job to stay in a good mental place themselves? Special guest Leanna joins the podcast as we take a closer look at the role mental health can play throughout our prison systems. Being a licensed independent social worker, Leanna finds herself waking up everyday to lead the mental crisis team for a local county jail.  No two days are the same nor does this woman ever get bored with her incredible work.  Especially when you find yourself communicating with humans across all walks of life who are in all sorts of disturbing and off the wall situations causing them to step into the jail system. Her job is to ensure the mental wellbeing for each and everyone of the inmates on a daily basis. Sometimes that means focusing on the mental health of  a child molester or maybe a mass murder. It takes a special kind of human to do the kind of work our dear friend does and so we would like to share her unique perspective of what mental health looks like behind bars.
