We Want To Hear From YOU!

We have to learn to accept the truth, however it comes, for exactly what it is. If we could grasp that,  I could close out this message with those words alone.  

Write this down, and tape it on your bathroom mirror or your car's dashboard. Put these words somewhere where they’re consistently in your face. “Truth, however, “it” comes - accept it for exactly what it is.”

In John 14:6, Jesus utters, “I am the way, the truth, and the life.”  When Jesus says I am the way, it indicates a directive when you are lost and can’t find your way.  When you embrace that He is the way, your actions, reactions, moves, and groves will emulate His.  Do you all remember some years ago, the craze was people walking around with bracelets and t-shirts that read, WWJD, what would Jesus do?  We have completely pulled away from that concept. Imagine what this world would be like if the masses adopted that concept as a way of life, not just a slogan.

Jesus goes on to refer to Himself and the truth.  Ok, it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure this out: if Jesus is the truth, meaning all truth aligns with who He is, how He lives, and what He spoke, then anything contrary to His principles, His examples and the words He spoke is a lie.

We Want To Hear From YOU!

I pray you all had a happy Thanksgiving and spent time with loved ones. For me once I get in that praise and thanks mode, it is hard for me to shift, so if you all will stay in that praise and thankful mode one more day, this morning, I want to give God praise and thanks for some things that we’ve made it through that might not of seem appropriate to bring up at the Thanksgiving table.

As we look back over our lives, we can stand this morning and declare we made it.

You have those who want to be so deep and don't want to acknowledge Thanksgiving, call it a pagan holiday, and then want to give you an American history lesson concerning the foundation of the holiday. If truth be told, I don't know about any of you, or if it's by chance by the way that I'm wired, but on Thanksgiving Day, pilgrims and Indians never enter my mind because my soul has been programmed when I think of Thanksgiving, I think of the ultimate one worthy of my things.

Sometimes, we can get so caught up in the semantics of the antics of humanism instead of basking in the dynamics of the power that we possess to choose our perspectives in what we embrace.

I don’t know if any of you may have heard that a month ago in Macon, GA, four prisoners escaped, and as of 2 days ago, all were recaptured.  Now, I am not advocating for their escape; I am not even sure of the crime that landed them in jail.  

But when all of them were captured at different times, all were still within the state of Georgia.  I immediately began to think why they would go through the trouble of planning an escape, pulling it off, and staying in the state, making their capture inevitable.

I then begin to think how we, too, do the same thing: we pray for change, say we desire different, are tired of this, bored with that, and not satisfied with whatever.

This morning’s topic is Lazy Faith.  Something that all of us have been guilty of at some point in our lives. Lazy faith is easy to slip into and we find ourselves in and out of a state of laziness when it comes to our faith.

We have a tendency to pray, instructing God what we want, and what we want done, when and how.  We actually take to God the problems, issues and tasks we don’t want to deal with or we don’t want to do, not because we can, just because we have no desire to deal with or complete.  

We give God instructions as if  we are the Creator, as if we offer God salvation instead of recognizing that we are His servants and that we are to bow to the Creator of all things, the only one who can offer us salvation.

We pray the Lord will visit this one at the hospital to heal their bodies, but we won't take the time out of our schedule to go to the hospital and visit.  We pray that the Lord watch over my children, my grandchildren, order their steps, but never taking the time to sit down with them to open up the Bible and share the word of God, so that they recognize godliness and ungodliness when it's presented.

I want to deliver to you the basics, as I talk to you about something so basic, so obviously important to a believer, but also so casually addressed, and so wavering in our consistency.  I am talking about the reality of God. 

Some of you are likely saying Pastor I believe in God, you don’t have to convince me there is a God.  And that’s good but sometimes we have to be reminded of the depth of the very essence of God and what that actually means to us as believers.

Many of us believe in God and don’t have to be convinced there is a God but can’t talk to a skeptic or unbeliever about the character of God outside of what He has done for us.

Yes, be happy, and share your testimony, but know that God is so much bigger than what he’s done in your life.  He was here before each one of us and will be here beyond each of our lives and it is important that we are able to share God, the very essence of His being with others.  It’s our conversations that are essential in the building of the Kingdom of God
